Quality Class & OC Situation

What are we talking about, recruiting or on field results? We are still talking about football aren't we? If not, trade out on court results for on field.

No sugarcoating, I WANT THE TRUTH!
We all want success, and recruiting is a very important part of that. As we've seen from the Jones era, development and coaching is what sharpens the finished product. I'm not proud of losing.....it hurts and it's intolerable at times. I am an optimist, but I like to know where I stand at any given point in time. We need results whatever the case. The court is a much more fun place to hang out right now.

Why do so many of us think this? I know that's what we've been told but is it accurate? Sure didn't work in year 1. Most of the talent that CJP has coached was outstanding to begin with. Saying he coached up Bama, FSU and UGA is kid of like the guy who is born on third base and thinks he hit a triple. I have not seen any evidence that this staff are talent developers.
Then you have Chip Kelly...who made UCLA WORSE. But he won NC’s too...nm.

Maybe, but Chip also ran a great system well ahead of its time, before defenses caught up. Will be interesting how successful he is. 1st season sure wasn't one to remember.

So maybe, just maybe and this is just me spitballin here, Chip Kelly will be more successful when he gets guys that will fit and buy into his plan and vision for UCLA?

We're never going to out talent the likes of Bama, UGA, or Florida. The absolute best we can hope for is that we'll be relatively close to them or even talent wise. So we're going to need good solid coaching to finally start beating them.

Never say never...

I want something better than a low-tier program that is based on more than words. What do YOU want?

Please Please Please sell you tickets and move on. Of course I am probably incorrect, you have never purchased Season Tickets.

i.e 2 stars getting “coached up”? We’d a loved that! 😉

Hmmm, so since the class isn't finished so there is that. Why is it so hard for you to except the lack of talent premise? Just use the eye test. Let's even go back to 2013. How many players have we had on either side of the ball that would start around the SEC?

But I see where this post is leading. Your usual it's all coaching 🙄
Isnt this class about in line with other recent classes?

OCs are not overrated....

On a serious note, id love to get the opinions from those that agreed with Pruitt using lack of talent as an excuse for poor performance last season. This class is currently ranking close to or worst than 3 of the last four. 2018 being the exception. It also ranks in the bottom tier of the sec. So how them to we come to the conclusion that things will improve?

You think the team we fielded last year was the 13th best squad in the nation? We currently have the 13th ranked class and stand to 2 or 3 more quality guys which should jump us up even higher. Not to mention these players are recruited to fit CJP's system which makes a big difference

I agreed with Pruitt. I like all of our players, glad they chose to be VFLs. But unfortunately many of them were/are not SEC level players last year...doesn’t mean that some can’t be developed over the next few years. I hate saying this and nobody wants to hear it but it takes time.

Maybe this is a great place to insert this IDK...but on Saturday I attended the Vol game in Memphis with a close friend who is one of the largest donors at UT and has been for 40 years. He has connections EVERYWHERE but is a wonderful man. He told me one of the Alabama coaches told him THERE IS NO OTHER PERSON IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY THAT CAN EVALUATE TALENT LIKE JEREMY PRUITT. He said its uncanny.....So until CJP has his players in place and fails with them I'm going with CJP instead of all of us (me included) talentless evaluators….TIFWIW...
I concur that I am a talentless talent evaluator of talented and/or talentless talent. Huh.. does that make sense? Anyway, I had Peyton 4th on my depth chart after the O&W game in 94. I am obviously a rocket surgeon as a talent scout.

I'm trying to rein in my expectations for next year. They were obviously wildly out of hand for last season. If I can keep my expectations in check, then that will be a successful season for me. But, I can trace most of my football acumen back to videos like this one:

Oh man,,Thank You! That' is a classic,I haven't seen this in ages!

For some reason, it seems that some do not realize that national signing day isnt until February.
Although given that 75% + will be signed in Dec it is more like Signing day is Dec 19 and last chance Day is in Feb. This is the new normal I'm afraid. Hopefully a couple more good signees will finish us up in top 10.

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but how is being 6th out of 14 teams or 13th out of 129 teams put us in the bottom tier in recruiting?
Also,,,Chip Kelly has to get his players in to be successful but Pruitt doesn't get that chance? He is already judged a failure?

And I would agree as well:).

Would it be safe to assume most sec classes would do the same?
Most everybody will add some pieces yes.

UT is waiting on 2 players specifically that would push them up the charts a few spots.

Most of the experts are picking UT for both.
