Pruitt talks offensive struggles

It's completely insane the disparity between our skill players and the O-line. I think we have one of the best "big 3" group of WRs in the SEC. Our RBs are great. JG is very good. But the O-line is worst in the conference. You replace our O-line with Georgia's or even Missouri's, and we're competing for the SEC East; or at least making a pretty good bowl game.

It is difficult to determine how good the RBs and QBs are when the OL is this bad. I would not classify the RBs as great. We still have protection issues from the backs. The RBs may be good or maybe even a little better than that, but I need to see them behind a true college OL to determine how good they are.

You clearly see only what you want to see. We have been throwing the ball down the field more and more each game. We had a long touchdown tonight again. And as far as triple coverage on that pass play you don’t know what you’re talking about but it fits your narrative best. When he threw the ball it was one on one and the defender fell down making Palmer wide open. JG was hit as he threw it and it stayed in the air for 4 seconds they said. That allowed other defenders to get there.

Who did we play tonight?
How many touchdowns did our great leader JG lead us too?
JG got a 65.5 QBR rating against Charlotte. Do you think that is acceptable?

As far as the triple coverage ... there were other plays he did the same thing.. He needs to learn how to look beyond his primary receiver but I don't think he can and I don't think the coaches think he can either and that's why they have him throwing screens and short timing routes.

Just pause a minute and think about this... we have an O-line that cannot block squat. How is that even possible after all the hours of film study, weight room, and coaching on and off the field. To see a guy whiff on a rusher over and over... he just looked completely lazy. You have to ask why is he getting playing time. It is getting to be a joke... some of the players effort is beyond embarrassing. I really do feel for Pruitt.... and think less and less of Butchie for the mess he left.
Then you look and realize that Pruitt is being paid millions of dollars to fix it and then you feel less sorry for him.

Today, was an embarrassment for our team. We all know the OL is not good, but at least they should put forth an effort and fight for their QB and the rest of the team. They played like they were in the middle of the second week of two-a-days. The OL showed no fire, no passion, and seemingly no desire to compete.

He knows how bad the OL is. No SEC caliber starters and zero quality depth. In reality the only reason our rushing numbers looked so good in 2015 and 2016.

When did Charlotte move to the SEC.

Out starters are plenty good enough to beat the crap out of Charlotte. Regardless of hownmych the play by play team pumped them up they are not some great juggernaut. Go look who has beaten them. The players on our sideline should run then out of the stadium.

Now I understand why no decent coach wants to come here. Tennessee has dug itself in a whole that it can not get out of. Our best bet is to stick with Pruitt no matter how long it takes. I.E. Clemson with Dabo. Stoops with UK. Gonna take a while to get back to being competitive in the SEC
Thank you Casey Pruitt. Why do t we give him an extension this year for being honest and telling us like it is in so many press conferences. Havent you heard- Pruitt hasnt lost a Press Conference this year as a head coach

All our o lineman would struggle to win a starting spot for Appy State.
I hope the fix is in... at some point it has to come around. Like it has been mentioned many times here, how long can this go on. Need to recruit hosses for the O-line... big uglies, like the old days.

I think some folks are waiting on Will Friend to take the mic and say hey this line has hit its ceiling and it’s not going to get better until we get some reinforcements on the roster, just to validate what everyone pretty much knows anyway at this point. We don’t have the depth yet to lose Brandon Kennedy and then Trey Smith, and playing Smith out of position in the first place tells you all you need to know about where we are in developing a line. When you’re talking about disguising things, that’s as close as you’re going to get to saying you have weaknesses that your roster just doesn’t have answers for. Maybe I’m wrong and our line has been capable of blocking for a power running scheme all along and Friend just isn’t coaching them up. My money’s on we need several hundred more pounds of just plain ill-tempered disposition on the line.

I'm waiting for Friend to take the mic and announce his resignation. This o line performance is shameful.

Yeah, the talent isn't there on the offensive line to compete against the upper echelon teams.

But the effort wasn't even there today to push around or marginally disrupt a team like UNCC.

Like I post in one of the other topics, should have made a QB change in the 2nd half to see if it would create a spark. If it didn't work, he could have went back to Guarntano.
Qb is irrelevant to the real problem.
The question is how do you replace **** o lineman when you don’t have anyone else

Ok then explain why our talented players couldnt execute oroperly enough to beat the crap out of Charlotte. Why couldnt the OL blow holes open? Why couldnt they properly protect? Why couldnt the TEs and RBs help block? Why are these players failing week in and week out with simple things that even HS OL can do? But hey, blame the coaches for everything if that makes you feel better. But you would be wrong.

He is not used to having the type of players we have. On a positive note. He has taught this team to strain and play with heart. They are not great but they don't quit and they have improved. The D played a good game tonight. The O line is our biggest problem and we have help coming next year.
Our offensive line is a sack of woe. JG should be screaming in their face after every run or pass. Good god those guys suck.

You could have put Travis Henry or Jamal Lewis out there today with a high school offensive line and they could have rushed for more than 20 yards. Sometimes a back has to make someone miss. It's not 100 percent on the OL. That was a complete stinkfest by everyone involved on the offensive side of the football.

Can you blame him?
Yeah but feeling depressed and showing it when you are supposed to be a leader are two different things. I like Pruitt and think he can turn it around given time but he can't sound like he's given up on his team. That is some learning on the job as a HC. It's tempting to go with #1 but I don't know if we can protect well enough to keep a QB healthy if we throw it that much.
Well we are inside 4 games now so technically we could get everyone of them killed like we are trying to do to JG.
