Pruitt just said offensive coordinators are overrated

What does he say when asked a question on that topic that "helps" us?

He certainly doesn’t have to answer it, many coaches dance around questions. This isn’t the first time he has been in a press conference but he acts like it is every time he holds one

Makes sense. Fulmer ignored what he brought to the table and made him stick to vintage Fulmer. Thanks i never new that.

That’s because it isn’t true, Hamilton did not force CPF into hiring Clawson. He didn’t retain him when he fired Fulmer. It’s possible he was given some assurances that he would be the head coach in waiting

Your post title is only a teaser of the actual quote. He also said, at his time, recruiting was more important than signing a new OC. That makes it easier to put his statement in his current list of priorities.

So you've never had a full conversation with someone and left wondering what they meant by something they said.

Huh. There's people that believe speech is what it is and has no interpretation. And those same people think they are smart for thinking that. Interesting.
Of course, but that's not the case here. He clearly said "some", yet some members here, either refuse to acknowledge it or simply has no idea of what the word "some" means. It's like the Democrats/Liberals, regardless of what is actually said and in what context, they will spin it to match their narrative regardless of the consequences. If you're in the Pruitt "ain't the guy" camp you disregard the "some" and make it a definitive "Pruitt said OC's are overrated" indictment of his Coaching acumen. Completely disregard of the context. No matter how logical or factual one is he/she will never win an argument/debate with a liberal/Democrat. Same with a never Pruitter.

The full video is attached to the article, scroll down....You are absolutely correct. Much to do about nothing.

"The offensive coordinator sometimes is overrated." These are stupid words to escape the mouth of any head coach at a press conference when asked about his search for an offensive coordinator. Should Pruitt be fired for it? No, and I haven't seen anyone say that he should be. Nonetheless, it is a very dumb thing to say, I am sure he knew it as soon as he said it, but he kept a good poker face. That's trial lawyer 101, if you say something stupid or if a witness says something bad, you keep a poker face on and keep going. It's also trial lawyer/public relations 101 that you don't waste time arguing and thus expending your credibility trying to convince people of something they are likely never to be convinced of anyway, e.g., the sun does not rise in the east, the sky is not blue, or that saying "the offensive coordinator sometimes is overrated" is a whole lot different than "offensive coordinators are overrated". However that is precisely what has been happening the last 5-6 pages or so. I don't know what would be so hard, if you were inclined to defend the statement, or why it would make you a bad Vol fan to say: YES, I THINK PRUITT CHOSE HIS WORDS POORLY HERE, THIS IS WHAT I THINK HE WAS TRYING TO SAY: That's a lot better than just berating everyone who disagrees with you.
The trial lawyer point has merit. It boils down to this for me. I wanted us to hire a coach that could instill teaching and development. Schemes and playcalling are included of course and the net result is what I’ll grade Pruitt on. If I wanted to parse out sections of PC’s and interviews and second guess use of phrases, I’d vote to bring Dooley back. He won PC’s just not many games.

If Coach Pruitt made a statement that "Pie is good", within a matter of minutes, there will be someone start a thread about it. Next thing you know, there will be outrage expressed because he didn't specify which flavor is the best, then 10 pages of the debate of which one is the best.

He doesn't like Pie, he likes cake. Why would he say pie is good if he doesn't like it? He's stupid if he said pie is good.

That was so irresponsible of him to slow play apple. Just so colossally stupid...but I didn’t call him that. This decision probably ended his chances of success...but I don’t want him fired!

volfannbama prolly

And that gets picked apart as well. The simple point is that it doesnt matter how or if he answers that question.

The same people on here b!+ching and moaning would be doing the same had he refused or answered differently.

He's not winning or losing games at PCs. If he were he'd be the first.

The first replies to such a statement would be more like...

"Coach Pruitt is the greatest pie selector of all time"
"He just has no good pie makers around him but once he does he will be great"
"I agree with Coach Pruitt, ive never really kiked apple pie either.....even though ive eaten it at all holiday parties my entire life, now it suck cause pruitt said it sucks"

Knew you’d have an extreme opposite counter handy...thanks buddy!

Well he is arguably one of the top defensive coordinators in the country. Since he has owned just about everyone in his career as a DC, he prolly thinks OC's are overrated lmao
First time I read this I lol. Second time I read it, I still lol, agreed it is in fact true, and gave you a like. Well done sir. :p

Alabama owns everyone, every year, with whomever is their DC. The talent he has had with Bama, UGA and FSU was elite. That's why so many were anxious to see his D under less than ideal circumstances. I personally did not see much if any improvement on D this year.

Elite talent at UGA and FSU yet those two programs made HUGE strides and jumps on the defensive side of the ball under Pruitt. Smh. Love people trying to belittle the guy.

Well that is just brilliant. He's a great motivator. "One of the greatest Offensive minds couldn't move the ball with these bums but hey I am bringing in 25 kids this year to play along with my current scrubs and once I cycle out all these turds we can talk about an OC" "By the by, please fill up Neyland for the spring game and pack it up when we play at home even though it aint really gonna matter for now."
Come on man... tell me what Bill Walsh could’ve done different in this situation. We need the fans, even in the ****** times. Yes fill up the spring game and give Pruitt time. He knows what he is doing. We will make the playoffs during his tenure as coach.
