I know the reasonable thing would say “he just doesn’t have the players yet.” And that is 100 true. But no UT coach should ever lose to Vandy, let alone get beat down by them. It’s honestly made me question him a lot. How do you be a competent coach and even let this happen?

^This is my sentiment exactly. I don't care what Jones left there is no excuse for this. Before the last 2 weeks I actually felt pretty good about Pruitt. I think now that he is more than likely a 3-4 year coach and we will be doing another HC search. The cycle never ever ends.

I was close to feeling that this last year vs Vandy, but I at least saw a false glimmer of hope on the horizon with the coaching change. I just can’t fathom we get ran over by Vandy like this.

Old Vanderbilt doesn't take playoff teams to the wire. It's just the climate of the SEC. Until we are elite on the field Vanderbilt is interchangeable with any other team in the league and capable of beating anyone else.

Pretty low after this debacle. There is no reason the University of Tennessee should ever lose to Vandy in football.
They were unprepared, unmotivated and uninspired. That’s ALL on the coach and his staff. Your playing for a bowl and they look like they’d rather be anywhere but there.
I’m sick of watching 2 yard passes go for 10 because of missed tackles. Tackleing is taught and they have learned NOTHING about it this year.
Hopefully when Pruitt gets “his players” it’ll be a different story.
If I have to listen to Tim priest complaining about the qb being late on another throw I’m gonna lose it. He’s said it on every pass play. Throw the ball on time. Once he’s open, you’re late.

No confidence in Pruitt but it is not his fault. If we had a competent administration at any point in the last decade; Pruitt would have never gotten a sniff at the head coaching job. Now that we are here; we have no choice but to give him as much time as he needs to learn how to be a head coach and hopefully turn this mess into something that resembles an SEC football school again.

Yes he did. So did Jordan. There were some bright spots for sure. Our line play was the worst I think I’ve ever seen. I am biased having grown up watching the VOLs of the 90’s but still.

Long post here.

I have all the confidence in Pruitt. His defensive system is solid and he just doesn’t have the talent to actually be consistently competitive.

In terms of Helton and Offense, same can be said. The one thing that does disappoint me is the lack of creativity in terms of the offense. Kiffin arguably had less talent behind the line and at receivers and still had a decent offense. Only thing this team has that is worse is offensive line and QB is an even wash. Helton will be fine when he gets the horses up front and an actual QB competition. He ran the prolific offenses with Darnold and can do the same here. 1000% believe it.

The one and only time that shook me in terms of confidence is Pruitt not benching JG tonight and letting KC get a series or two to open the second half to “spark” the offense. However with that said, I 1000% absolutely believe Pruitt just wanted to get thru this season as fast as possible. I don’t think he’s gonna be losing any sleep over missing a bowl game. He had a crap roster outside of 3-5 players. I mean I sorta thought that but when he said he needed “to get 25 more guys in here”, I firmly believe he was already writing off this season the minute he took the job.

He stole some good wins this year and had some great moments but this year was never supposed to be a leap year to actually surprise people. Amazed at the people stupidly saying they have zero confidence because we lost to Vandy even though UT is in the gutter and the fact Butch literally left trash on the roster.

LOL seems to me your the only idiot here defending this dumpster fire. No one expected him to win the east, but I sure as hell expected him to have a team that could compete with Vanderbilt.

I'm at a 4 out of 10 on Pruitt. Had some doubts going in and this year has not helped. A few players showed growth this year, but the leap was not enough to make me comfortable. I wouldn't bet a dime either way on the future of JP.

Whether im confident or not doesnt matter. He's here for 3-5 years at minimum. I predicted 4-8. He coached us to 5-7. My win was over Vandy.

We hired another experiment. Maybe we got lucky...but that really isnt the UT way, is it.

Who in the hell is saying anything about competing for the East??? We can’t compete with Vandy. Why don’t you go and compare TN recruiting classes with Vandy’s and then come back and report what you find.
