Pruitt Confidence level?

This is a 26 senior vandy team that took Notre Dame to the end, next year we smash them with freshman and sophomores. I'll reserve judgement for Pruitt for 3-4 years, I think this staff is capable of evalutating and developing SEC talent unlike the previous staff.
You are dreaming

Bunch of idiots in here, so he’s suppose to take a crap roster, with a mediocre recruiting class and suddenly be competing for the east?
Your gonna hate it but what about UF

Same goes for FSU only they have far more talent being wasted
EXACTLY!!!! How the hell are we supposed to overcome this Vandy juggernaut? Its Vandy damnit. THE BEST OF THE BEST!! Fans need to chill. We will get to Vandys level in due time. A couple of recruiting classes and I'll bet we can keep it close with these guys.
Lol

Vandy sux!! we just suck more, can't run, can't pass, can't stop the run or the pass .Only have
a few plays and have used the same crap all year that will not work. Think I need to throw up
from all the embarrassment !!!! Think Tennessee football is done !!!

No confidence in Pruitt but it is not his fault. If we had a competent administration at any point in the last decade; Pruitt would have never gotten a sniff at the head coaching job. Now that we are here; we have no choice but to give him as much time as he needs to learn how to be a head coach and hopefully turn this mess into something that resembles an SEC football school again.

Agree with most but Pruitt isn’t an innocent bystander

A team that could have beat Notre dame you mean? And should have one a few more? That same old it's Vanderbilt bs doesn't work anymore. They aren't terrible.
This is the Sad part. UT fans trying to prop up Vanderbilt's resume to prove a point. LOL They suck and always will. WE just suck worse.

I’m confident in Fulmer to evaluate the kind of coach TN needs to return to dominance. Pruitt was his choice. Pruitt hired an incredible staff of elite recruiters and player developers. Someone already said it but a losing/quitting mentality can take root in a person/team and when it does, it’s hard to get out. If Pruitt lands a LEGITIMATE top 10 class(not a BJ kind of class) after this garbage over the past 2 weeks, then he will no longer have the “play the right way” excuse. We may have more talent than Vandy, but we are a team chalked full of kids who’ve been programmed to quit. Just my opinion.

Not worries yet but wouldn’t hate it if CJP gives a postgame locker room speech just tell the group that 10-15 of the boys will be looking for new homes next year...happy holidays

But I still despise them with a passion. They are the only team in the SEC that I will NEVER pull for in football or basketball. Baseball is another story......just sayin.

He should at least be competitive against vandy. There is no excuse for this performance. Period!

This is the same team that didn’t win a single SEC game last year minus the players that had NFL talent and replaced with a second rate recruiting class.
Idiots need to quit living in the 90s and wake up to reality.
At the start of this year we were a 3 win team and they managed to pull out 5 wins. Anyone saying there was no improvement has no idea what they are talking about and anyone saying we were anything but a 3-4 win team at the beginning of this season are stuck in the 90s and are too stupid to realize a new coach doesn’t equal a whole new roster.

It is a crap roster. Recruiting rankings don’t mean **** if the players were never developed but still. Even with a crap roster, UT cannot lose, let alone get blown out by Vanderbilt
Isn’t it Pruitt’s responsibility to develop them? I don’t think we have seen much improvement throughout the year.

Well, 5-7 first season closed out with back to back embarrassing losses. Honestly makes me wonder how tf we beat Auburn and Kentucky. What do guys think of year 1?

I know the reasonable thing would say “he just doesn’t have the players yet.” And that is 100 true. But no UT coach should ever lose to Vandy, let alone get beat down by them. It’s honestly made me question him a lot. How do you be a competent coach and even let this happen?
It's a different time and age now.. vandy actually went out and got a coach ( not to say that ol dude at candy is a world beater but..). James Franklin started it and Mason took over and the rest is history.

5-7 was not the record most of us expected.. however, let's get real for a moment. You had back to back laughing stock coaches with one of those guys, blowing huge leads and had a chance to do something for the first time in nearly 20 years (at that time). Pruitt can't win with players that do not respect him as coach OR just don't give a damn.

I put this on Fulmer. He should have hired a coach that matched the type of talent we had . Pruitt came in and tried to beef up this team thus eliminating whatever speed we had. We look real slow against SEC teams. He wants us to play the Alabama schemes with less physical players and it was never going to work.

A finesse coach would have been more successful with the roster that we had in place.

It also hurt hiring a coach with no head coaching experience.

A coach like Brohm would have been a much better match for our situation.

Why so confident in a rookie AD who had never hired a HC before? Same reason you're so confident in Pruitt? Blind orange optimism?

It certainly isnt for any logical reason.

Well.. considering the guy had only 9 months to "Develop".. This is better than what the record could have been. Year 1 coach with a dusty cupboard..

The record is where i thought it would be prior to the season, but it actually feels worse than I expected, given the "hope" after the Auburn and Kentucky games.
Best DB (Gaulden) and best Defensive Lineman (Kirkland) left from a team that went 4-8 last year.

Tennessee is now a bottom of the conference team that occasionally catches the other teams sleeping or "plays up" for them.
I guess there is always next year.

I have 0 Confidence in the Coaching Staff, UT's Administration, and this group of players.

I tell employees, We Open at 8:30. That doesn't mean you show up in the parking lot at 8:30 and open the door. That means you are at your station, your computer on, lights on, Doors unlocked, ready to do business.

The Kentucky game is the only game this year our team came to work ready to play. We would have likely lost to East Tennessee State had not it thundered in Maryville and they called an early halftime. The coaching staff has yet to this year come to the game with the team ready to play. We have played plenty of teams with equal or lesser talent than ours including Vandy and Missouri and in neither of those games did we act like we wanted to play on either side of the ball. Our Defense SUCKS, offensive line sucks, and our quarterback is very questionable. We had that year a few years ago where the quarterback apparently threw the Vandy game to keep from having to play in a sorry toilet bowl game and it appears the same happened this year.

UT's Administration has mismanaged the hiring of coaches the last 3 consecutive and it's killed the program to the point that if we pulled out of the SEC and joined Carson Newman's league we'd just be one of the bunch not the elite. We have to have a coach that knows how to motivate players that are not otherwise motivated to play. We have to get players that want to be here and want to play for the Big Orange. It's been since Eric Berry that we've had that to a big extent.

I'm disgusted.
