Pruitt Confidence level?

Started out zero and hasn't changed. If he can somehow swing a top 10 signing class after this, I'll be somewhat impressed by his ability to recruit.
To think there was all this talk about SEC COY is utterly preposterous. To get blown out and never have a chance in so many games against second tier schools tells me a lot about the man in charge.

They can't fire him for 2 or 3 years but my confidence level is ZERO. His team quit on him and they have shown no improvement in the 11 months he and his staff have been on the job. NO talent, no heart, no technique.
These are the same 5 star heart players Botch brought in.
Hard to win a horse race with a bunch of slow ponies.

Confidence is somewhat lower than after game one when he was still unproven. I'd say there's probably an 80-85 percent shot he's not coaching to start the 2021 season. We finished embarrassingly bad. We were making the exact same mistakes in game one and game twelve. The team regressed rather than improved. Had something to play for today and fell absolutely flat on its face. The Vegas win line was 5.5, so he finished worse than that.

Wonder if he's going to recruit the next few weeks or go help Bama win another title?

I have less of it than i did after UK i know that. I don't know. He needs a monster class, i don't think he's going to get it. Good class not the kind of class he needs. Going to be a slow process with him like it has been with everyone else. People will run out of patience with him about year 3 including me if it doesn't look night and day better than what we've seen.

Makes you wonder what Pruitt was thinking hiring Helton. It should of been crucial to hire a proven OC

I agree, if im a defensive specialist I am hiring a oc that can run things so I never have to worry about that side of the ball! OC is terrible, you can tell a big diff in rb's with weinke since last year(missing holes, fumbles, don't understand who to block) ect, an oline is bad but should be better by the end of season and they are not. Upgrade these three and recruit and pruitt can do very well!

Rookie AD? If Fulmer was hiring the golf coach, I’d be nervous. But if there’s anything he understands, it’s football.I’m not confident in Pruitt yet. But if he can learn the nuances of game management, hiring and firing and the off the field crap I’m very confident in his coaching ability. Because all he’s ever done is win. He didn’t play trumpet or make some extravagant dip.
I’m confident in the play of Taylor and Thompson and they have gotten better all year. The mitakes they’ve made we’re freshman mistakes.
Listen, I hated tonight more than you know. I live in the Nashville area and have to put up with Vandy fans all year. They are insufferable. But we’re stuck with Pruitt for at least 3 years and that’s about the amount of time he needs to perfect his way. If he doesn’t win 9-11 regular season games by then, let’s revisit this topic then.

Knowing football and hiring a great football coach have little do with each other. If it did Ex football coaches would be the only ones running AD departments or at minimum they would be the "search committee".

Pretending a guy who got fired because it was deemed he lacked the coaching acumen or the ability to hire the right position coaches all of a sudden knows how to hire the right HC is kind of silly.

After seeing them in person today I realized just how mediocre the talent level is right now.....it's going to take a complete retooling

Well, 5-7 first season closed out with back to back embarrassing losses. Honestly makes me wonder how tf we beat Auburn and Kentucky. What do guys think of year 1?

I know the reasonable thing would say “he just doesn’t have the players yet.” And that is 100 true. But no UT coach should ever lose to Vandy, let alone get beat down by them. It has honestly made me question him a lot. How do you be a competent coach and even let this happen?

It's good to let off steam, you can do it for the entire year, but you will not...Unfortunately for you....

When you return next season to support the Vols, The HC will be Jeremy Pruitt.....hate it for you/

This is a 26 senior vandy team that took Notre Dame to the end, next year we smash them with freshman and sophomores. I'll reserve judgement for Pruitt for 3-4 years, I think this staff is capable of evalutating and developing SEC talent unlike the previous staff.

That is awesome. So we are now at the level where we have to wait for Vandy to be in rebuilding mode to beat them??? That is awesome!!!

The timeout when he couldn't do simple math in his head says it all.

There are some people that shouldn't rise above coordinator level. Great football guys, but not smart enough to be head coaches.

Calling out the fans for the orange and white game was not bright. Getting caught up in the heat of the moment and saying you need to recruit over your current players was incredibly stupid. Saying coaches can't challenge plays anymore was outright scary.

The offense is poor and the play calling is predictable. The defense plays well at times but other times can’t get off the field. The schemes on both sides of the ball have to make you question this staff’s ability to develop into an elite staff.

I'm not sure what our love affair with the 50/50 ball is. Either JG doesn't have the arm to hit receivers in stride, or the WRs we have do not have the speed to create separation. Of course, it is more likely a combination of both. You don't score touchdowns just throwing the ball up for grabs when the DB is right there to take the receiver down.

Additionally, I guess screen plays to our RBs are simply not in our play book either. It's the best way to slow down D linemen when they know they can beat their man anytime they want.

What Pruitt seemingly doesn’t understand is media appearances and his team’s performance are all we have to judge him on, and neither are good. Fans and the press will turn on him fast if he doesn’t show on field progress next year

50/50

Same as the beginning of the year. That number changes drastically after next years UF game and again when that season ends.

Confidence is very low based upon the performances of his team this year. Too many blowouts to mediocre teams and no blowouts against the cupcake teams we played this year.

We are at that point because of all our past mess ups. I think it's just the reality of this season like a perfect storm, candy is loaded with a bunch of seniors and our best players are true freshman and a junior lb and wr. I think candy goes back to candy next year and UT is vastly improved. I'll be here if I'm wrong, been here from the beginning 🤙🤙🤙

I know it makes everyone feel a lot better to blame the coach, but I honestly don’t know how you hang it all on him.

If you actually watch the game, the players just flat out lose the individual matchups the vast majority of the time. It’s just the facts.

OL’s are getting physically beaten by the other team’s DL.

We can’t pressure the QB with four guys because they lose the individual matchups against the opposing OL. You can’t blitz Because the DBs can’t play the ball. They lose matchups against opposing receivers.

Our receivers get separation at times, but the QB doesn’t make enough throws.

You can blame it on the coaches or the play calling, and maybe better coaches could have made a more palettable chicken salad out of the CS they inherited, but at the end of the day, the players have to make plays, and they just don’t make plays.

You can point to whatever reasons help you get through all of this, but right wrong or indifferent, the players on the team right now are good enough to win in this league.

I have no confidence in Pruitt after this game. I can understand getting blown out by Bama, Georgia, or even Florida. There is no excuse on this planet for getting dominated in this fashion by Candy.

The team didn't want to be there and had already mailed it in before the game started.

I have no confidence in any part of the football program at this point. The mantra leading into this game was that UT would be playing for pride and hopefully the opportunity to go bowling. After watching this game is is quite obvious that this team had no pride or desire and didn't really even look like they wanted to be there.
To put on the display they did this evening was the first time that I can recall in 50 plus years of being a fan that I can truly say that I am ashamed of them for the lack of effort and non competitive spirit they showed.
They do not deserve to go to any type bowl so maybe the time that would have been spent practicing for a bowl can be better spent further weeding out who really wants to be there via S&C program and recruiting.

This is the same team that didn’t win a single SEC game last year minus the players that had NFL talent and replaced with a second rate recruiting class.
Idiots need to quit living in the 90s and wake up to reality.
At the start of this year we were a 3 win team and they managed to pull out 5 wins. Anyone saying there was no improvement has no idea what they are talking about and anyone saying we were anything but a 3-4 win team at the beginning of this season are stuck in the 90s and are too stupid to realize a new coach doesn’t equal a whole new roster.
That was not a well coached team on the field in Nashville tonight. I believe you could use a reality check.

Very Low. He gets three years before he is really judged but to this point if your confidence in him is high its based on pure blind faith. He hasnt shown very much at all. Thats fine if folks want to have blind faith in a guy for the sole purpose of being hired as.Tennessees coach.
Hope he has a top recruit ready to sign tomorrow..
Unfortunately for him, his recruiting class isn’t gonna be one bit better than anything Jones brought in here, and not as good as his 2014 and 2015 classes. Pruitt is just next in a long line of failed head coaches here. He should be cut some slack though, since no one has success at Tennessee.

Makes two of us. I’ll be here to take whatever heat I deserve in any posts. Been here too long to leave. And would be glad to eat crow.
