Pruitt about to land an epic recruiting class...

I don't know, but if two or three just don't give a chit, it doesn't just effect those two or three. Replace those two or three? Do it. Do it. Lol

People like me haven't decided Pruitt is our answer or not, but I trust him enough that he's thought about teaching these guys tackling, alignment and snap count and he knows how to teach them. I mean, do you and hog, and others really think he is that bad?
I cant speak for others. I dont think he is horrible. I also dont think he awesome. I have posted about my concerns. I have posted praise of improvement.
So, what is my intent, then? I just want to discuss the team and coaches. I dont believe discussing his successes or failures is harmful. There's nothing said on VN which will decrease his tenure at UT.

I harbor no animus against him. Im also not in love with him.

No I don't think he is a bad coach nor do I know if he will be a good HBC it's still too early to tell. I was hoping to see more improvement in fundamentals than we have seen and hopefully next year he will blow my socks off.

I just don't understand the coach worship, everyone should be looking at him and his staff with cynical eyes until he proves himself.

Well it dang sure cut Schiano's short!!!!;)

I know this is Captain Obvious material but he’s gotta beat Mullin and Kirby on the recruiting trail on a frequent basis or its gonna be hard to surpass them at the top of the SEC East

When and what is the Timeline? This year or next? or 2 yrs out?

Example. Do you think that certain 5*s get a pass at Florida and Georgia that wouldn't get a pass here? Yes. I believe they do.

Do You think that the Administration has facilitated a positive attitude in the past for Student Athletes to attend school here?

How long do you think our miscues with coaching hires, a dysfunctional Administration, past recruiting failures and mishandling of previous 4* & 5* athletes (Kamera, Hurd) carries over?

A lot of hurdles to turn this around and when do parents start putting UT back on the board for their children to come here and play...

Pruitt will have to establish himself as the Coach and as an Elite Coach in the SEC. It will take time but it starts above......with support of the Administration and Fan Base.

I just hope he can hold it together, so far this team is no better than last year, there are 4 games left that can change that. If I'm a recruit, and I don't see improvement, I have to think hard about coming. The only thing that makes me feel good about having a struggling coach is CPF to show him the way.
Even if we finish 4-8 this years teams would destroy last years team. Last year they had no heart to compete. We have already 1 conference win to last years 0. We have a better offense and defense. So we go 4-8. Big deal. The team has improved and recruits can see that. The fans that cant just need a reason to keep up their PATHETIC bitching.

This forum had nothing to do with Schiano not being hired. We could have ranted and raved for days on end to no avail. Charlie Egan, Charlie Anderson, Raja Jubran, and a handful of other outspoken boosters are the reason Schiano wasn't hired.

UT only hears the voices of those who consistently write large checks to the university.

Okay. Hog made the comment about tackling, snap count and alignment and McDadio made a sarcastic remark about it, which is allowed, haha. But, I see comments similar to that on other things and it just seems some of you guys think he's stupid and just haven't came out and said it. Jmo.

I mean, if he doesn't just suck, then what could possibly be the reason for the tackling, snap count and alignment issues? You guys, or at least hog said its not mental error its coaching, if it is in fact coaching, I'd say the coach sucks.

I said coaching can fix mental errors and so far that has been lacking. Maybe our guys are just dumb as a box of rocks, maybe teh staff are not good at teaching fundamentals I don't know for sure yet but you can't automatically use teh excuse "it's Butch's players". CJP is getting his chance to show what he can do and he'll be a success or he won't, I just don't want to go down that rabbit hole of "next year". Costs way to much money.

Yea, you're right, I was thinking about this...

"He’s shown some encouraging signs but he sure hasn’t shown much. 8 games in and we still have way too many mental errors. Mental errors are not talent related."

And, you just said "maybe our guys are as dumb as a box of rocks", IMO that's kinda what some have been saying.

We got JJ Peterson enrolled...start there.

He may be stupid. He can be a great DC and not know how to put gas in his car. He can also be a great coordinator and suck as HC (see wade phillips, norv turner et al).
I dont know the reason we're still having those mental issues. If i did, I'd be a millionaire consultant to sports teams.

Run the stats, I want bother.

You don't take an Aspirin to Cure a Cancer.
Must use Chemotherapy and Radiation.
Pruitt and Staff are the reality Check for Tennessee Football.
They are the ones tasked to clear the Cancer and will be for the next several years.

Fact: I think it can easily be assumed that Pruitt and His Staff (with turnover) will be here for the next 4 to 5 years. CPF as AD will ensure that this happens bar something out of the extraordinary. Really no need to do a total evaluation 10 months into this mess. You can moan and groan all you want but CPF wants his choice to succeed, he will provide all the necessary tools to do so. Moaning, nitpicking, and Groaning at this stage of the process is senseless and wastes a lot of board space.

What's more, CJP forfeited some of his pay to put together his staff. I hope both succeed and both stay in their positions for years to come.

CJP is on a learning curve, but he also knows very well what the End State of this program must be and what he must do to get there. It ain't happening tomorrow, so quit pushing the rope.

I was being a little facetious, our guys are not that dumb. No dumber than any other SEC school.

Okay, but hog said it was coaching and you seemed to agree with your comment and liking his. I don't really give a chit, I'm just trying to understand what some of you guys actually think.

Anyway, I think I better understand now. Thanks.

I was thinking about JJ Peterson when I posted.....GA and/or FL would have worked around what we had to push through in this process.
And ended up at the same spot...him enrolled. Don’t personally care about the histrionics around it...just the end result.

I could substitute “Kiffen” or “Dooley” or “Butch” for Pruitt and it would describe the program for the past decade

Always the dog chasing its tail.

Until we find a coach that can develop players on the field, we are going to continue to be talking about next year.

I don't know about you, but I see development by this staff.

cause there has been. it's easy and lazy to point at the box score and say "see we suck, just like last year, nothing's changed".

there's several players that have gotten a lot better last year to this, and even since the beginning of the year.

it's not enough to matter a whole lot to the score board unfortunatley...but it is happening.

I really like these discussions. So, thanks Behr.

At the end of the day, it is about coaching. CJP will be judged by the performance on the field over the years.
