I want these players to get as much money as they can ... even if I think this systems stinks.I can't really blame Jakobe, tbh. He wasn't guaranteed the starting spot, and he doesn't seem to be on any NFL GM's radar. This is likely his last chance to make money playing football. If he can get an extra $100k or $200k, think about how that could change his life. It could mean he'll never have a mortgage payment, for example. And if managed properly it means he can retire a lot earlier than most.
That was definitely true before Heupel got here but for the past few years I feel like it’s been mostly positive. This was the first time I’ve heard him in a long while sound legitimately frustrated. It’s also a consistent thing that everyone surrounding the program is always looking for the negative. Always. Including many fans here.
Idk if Swain is like that bc I don’t listen but all the pods/reporters that I’ve heard are and it’s annoying.
Him or Burris would be good. Wonder how we’re looking with the latter.- Hubbs
If Heupel knows his roster is in trouble, he needs to lobby boosters for more NIL money, like other coaches have done. This is the downside of the new dynamic, but it's up to him as HC to adjust. His job is to win games. One bad season won't cost him his job, but multiple bad seasons might. I want Heupel to succeed, but I don't believe in making excuses before the season even happens. He's the head coach. Everything ultimately falls on his shoulders. This is why it’s ludicrous to say if Heup has a bad season that it’s the beginning of the end. This isn’t 2015 recruiting anymore.
Look at FSU coming off 2-10. Pay and players will come. Doesn’t matter if you go 0-12 the prior season.

And then we have a bad season? That's probably worse, because he didn't see the problem to begin with. My hope is he does see the holes that need to be filled. My hope is that those of us screaming for more are wrong, and that he's right. I ALWAYS want what's best for Tennessee. If Heupel is the coach I want him to be, he knows what needs to be done, what needs to be fixed, what needs to be addressed. Winning is what matters. Winning is what is best for the team. What if he doesn’t think his roster is in trouble and that’s only a belief held by those not on the staff?
I see what you're saying and it tends to be a popular opinion. However, I get the feeling people greatly overestimate a college student's ability and/or desire to manage large sums of money responsibly.I can't really blame Jakobe, tbh. Love your dogs.Nico leaves we were paying $2.4M, we had $$ for the portal PRIOR to Nico leaving, so that means there should be additional portal $$...Aguilar did not eat up Nico's $$...
We had 2 unknown QB’s at the time . We didn’t actually think the 3rd one would be dumb enough to take a $2million paycut to play for a 3rd rate B1G school before the Spring game. This staffs biggest failure was not getting a WR in the December portal. No one wants to come here to catch passes from 3 unknown QB’s
