Please stop talking about the buyout

Out of that you get that they have to pay him 2 mil. Per year black and white? The language in that one paragraph alone would suggest that it is not black and white.

Read the statement under #7 above the paragraph

$2 million per remaining contract year.

Seems pretty black and white to me.

Was his original MOU voided by the extension? Because that contract says we owe him a flat fee of $3M for firing before 2/16 + $2M for every year left on the contract.

no ticket revenue is pretty stable..in fact we had more revenue in Dooley's last year than this year
NCAA | Finances | USA TODAY Sports

The ticket sales haven't dwindled because we had hope..,,, do you see a lot of hope in this fan board?
Do you see a great deal of belief in this fanboard?
You bet your silver tongue there WILL BE A DECREASE not only in ticket sales, but also merchandise, and donations.
All of these were artificially inflated because we wanted to believe we were moving ahead ( Weren't we supposed to win the east this year?).
We are not improving, we are regressing, and now it's known in the public and media.
OUR NUMBERS WILL TAKE A HIT.
so go tell your buddies in the pr department to spin a new fallacy. This dog won't hunt

For the 100th time. If this argument held water the previous 3 hires would not have been Kiffin,Dooley, and Jones.

Leadership on the Hill isn't interested in having a football coach with a name big enough to lord power over them.

Kiffin was probably the biggest realistic name hire available at the end of 2008. Him or Butch Davis. Kiffin had the advantage of being able to assemble a really impressive staff. Dooley was a panic last ditch effort of an AD that was hanging on by his fingernails. Jones was a result of a jerk of an AD not getting along with boosters and having to settle for a last minute cloak and dagger hire for which he had to basically borrow money from Jimmy Cheek.

There is dysfunction and discord to overcome, but if it gets sorted out, a big name can be obtained. The line of thinking that the previous three guys sucked, so the fourth can't be good is blown apart by Alabama's hires from Stallings to Saban.

It's UT's fault for their money situation. They bring in coaches on the cheap, give them large buyouts, and have to pay out those buyouts because they bring in coaches on the cheap. It's an endless cycle with them.

Again hope!
Everyone knew he was gone.
Buy low sell high right.
Dooley era was a good time to get tickets,
When I was growing up you had to be willed tickets to have a chance at them.
Don't preach to me about ticket sales I've been here a while.
You are selling a product that is going to suddenly be in less demand. You can fight it and lose or help promote your product.

so if we know that Butch will be fired next year..the sales will go through the roof!
Ticket sales have been between 31-35 million the last 10 years..not enough to make a difference

For the sake of argument ( not because I think it smart or feasable) what do you think our ticket demand, merchandising, etc would have been if Gruden had come?
Now same question if we picked up a chip Kelley?

Another question- how did Bamas' sales hype merchandising change when they brought in Saban?

In short, don't be silly, you are making excuses. The captain of the ship definitely directs fan interest and financial backing!
You best give up this bogus argument. You will not/ cannot win it!

If UT finally makes a big name hire you will see an explosion. If he starts winning even more so.

( most of us had to look Butch jones up on google when his name came up- doesn't exactly make you wanna whip out your check book does it?)

All of you FIRE BUTCH TODAY posters are wasting a lot of your time that could be spent with members of your family, or following the Kardashians.

Butch is not going anywhere. He will be the head coach next season.

More money for the alcohol needed to watch this team attempt to play football

You may be onto something there.
Selling alcohol to drown the pain will generate revenue.....
No they still would go bargain basement. Nevermind
