Pig Howard dismissed from team...

I apologize for getting heated when I see hundreds of people attack a friend of mine because they think they know how to fix him. People can't be fixed. And I would be there for him, but I'm in another city now and he is very quiet and closed off. He doesn't talk about his problems. Now you are defending yourself by trying to act like I'm crazy for getting up in arms when a group of 40 year olds try to villainize a friend of mine without knowing anything about him. I'm done with this website. I apologize for trying to bring what info and personal experiences I have seen, but you guys don't want the info, you just want to be right. Enjoy your speculation. It's really helping

Sorry to see you leave. I hope you noticed i never attacked, vilified (think that's the word you meant by, 'villainize'), offered to fix, or mocked his problems.

I also understand your desire to protect your friend.

I hope Alton gets his demons mastered.

Oh lord. Here we go again. He hasn't done jack squat for this program all season. He clearly has some attitude issues.

Pig has to be smart enough to stop or try and get help. I don't care what he has gone through, there are plenty of people who have gotten depressed/hurt and NOT turned to drugs as a crutch to lean on. If I saw a friend of mine struggling for a long time, I would reach out and help him. Or find someone to help him. I wouldn't run to a message board, talk about him, and then wonder why everyone is disappointed at him for getting kick off. Pig got some good years at UT. Hopefully he finished/can finish his degree soon, and maybe even have a pro career if he is able to.

You can only reach out to someone so many times before you realize it's in his hands and his hands only. Some people want to be helped, some people want to figure it out on their own. Unfortunately Pig falls into the latter. I believe in him.

Couple of rumors out there:
1. He has been off the team for 2 weeks. Butch has been lying about injuries.
2. Pig chose to leave, he was not kicked off the team until he did not show up for practice for 2 weeks.
3. Pig left because of coaching issues. I do not know if this is position coach or head coach.

These are all rumors. I do not know if any are true. If they are true true. these would be signs of a sinking ship!

4. And finally, there is rumor that folks are making up rumors.

Man most of the time it seems like it's bad news anymore. I can't believe that Pig is off the team. He had a lot of chances to to stay on the team. I really wish he would have kept his head on strait. But if it was just weed that caused him to fell his drug test, that sucks! I know that it's the NCAA rules, but in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with smoking a little bit of Weed. I just hope he's finishes school & maybe someone will take a chance on him in the NFL.

Just checking in, so it's all just hersay and rumors as usual right? Nothing concrete on Jones beating down Mack or Pig putting down the pipe? OK cool, I'll go back to my regularly scheduled programming. Let me know when we have some truth...

Also the fact that he had the balls to question Butch's coaching methods didn't help him. This is ****ed tho. He was a good kid and our best wideout imo. I'm sure butch was a bit of a manchild ab it since pig did challenge his authority when he prob could've brushed the failed dt under the rug.

Edit: and some of yall are with the **** wishing pig good riddance. He was a baller while he was here, and I wish him the best in his future endeavors. Some of yall act like it's just that easy to be clean and pass a dt. It's not that easy for some, and I guarantee everyone of you has someone in your fam with a substance problem whether you know it or not, and I can only hope you're more understanding with your own flesh and blood.

I am sorry but this is a total BS excuse. If he wanted to be clean he could, no excuse. Like my dad always told me, "How bad do you want it?". IF this is the reason he prioritized this over his football career, personal choice and have absolutely no sorrow for sum1 when they do it to themselves KNOWING the consequences. Hope he can get his life back together before it's too late.

Sure. And if he needs thc to alleviate pain he has options.

Is he in unremitting pain or are you speculating?

I'm speculating. I've known people with chronic back pain due to spinal injuries that only got relief from pot smoking. They tried prescription drugs but the drugs made it impossible for them to function because they were too strong, and anything less wasn't working. The only other option they had was a surgery that potentially could end up leaving them paralyzed. I'm just saying that in rare situations medical advice may not always be the right advice. And again, I'm not condoning what he did because I don't have all the info, I'm just reading between the lines from what has been reported by Deerpark and his friend here.

If that's the case he probably should have taken a medical.

Left handed cigarettes are a problem, and smoking them repeatly is a violation of team rules and state law.

Some of you guys will look for any reason to bash Butch. This one is likely on Pig. He should have to face the consequences.

I'm upset with Butch's game day abilities as much as anyone. But to crucify him for this is plain silly. If the concussion deal was really BS, it shows Butch was trying to protect Pig from all the speculation as to why he wasn't playing. There comes a point that you can't help someone any longer and you have to let them go. Just like D Williiams at Auburn. They tried everything to keep that kid on the team. This isn't the first time Pig has been in trouble. Far from it. Those saying we shouldn't assume it was weed are correct. It may be worse. We should hope it's weed and not a more addictive drug or rape or something worse. Pig ran out of a chances and was given ALOT of chances. I didn't see how anyone who doesn't have an agenda can blame this on Butch. There's lots of things we can blame on Butch, but Pig being off the team isn't one of them.

I agree. Deerpark's post makes it sound like he has a pretty severe concussion. If his injury occurred during the BG game and his symptoms got worse during a practice for Florida, then that's pretty bad and not something to take lightly.

He didn't play in the BG game?? Was suspended for team rules...

This^^. Regardless of personal belief, it is still the law. I don't think I should have to wear a seat belt if I don't want to, but got a ticket for it. I don't think weed should be illegal as long as alcohol isn't also. But it is. We are required to adhere to the laws and rules whether we agree or not. It doesn't excuse someone for breaking the law, just because it's a stupid law. Paying taxes so that others don't have to is stupid too, but try not abiding to that law.

Since we're speculating, I personally feel that pot is a lot less risky or harmful than most of the crap you can get by prescription.

The reason for the use is less important than the violation of rules.
