People need to understand that if Maurer was the better QB then our coaches would start him

At this point I don’t see how getting the back ups some game reps can hurt. I can see why they wouldn’t play against BYU, and the Ga St game never opened up enough to get them in. Surely they will get playing time against Nooga.

That's it, just because JG looks good at practice he is starter and I've saw 2 yrs of same HE FREEZES UNDER THE LIGHTS ON SATURDAY I agree it wouldn't hurt
to take a look at someone else...……………..
Same excuse for why Worley starting ahead of Dobbs, and we all know we would have stood a better shot with Dobbs

I actually do believe that JG is our best option currently, but does anybody think we will win anything that matters with him? This season is over already and we aren't going to make it to a bowl game. You might as well see what the other kids look like behind him. I don't know what they look like, but I have seen enough to know that JG isn't the answer going forward.

That thought process goes for a lot of positions. Might as well play the young kids as we are already playing for next season. It might be worse, and it most likely will be. Sometimes you have to take 1 step back to take 2 steps forward.

This idea that coaches dont play the player that gives them the best chance to win is as ludicrous as that guys story about Ryan Johnson.

This is not a defense of CJP, but only Butch would be stupid enough to do that.

Absolutely! No way in Heck that CJP would ever make a mistake identifying talent!

I honestly hope he sticks with JG and it cost him his job. Hopefully recruiting doesn’t have to do with it...

Has Maurer or Shrout played actual game time to compare to JG’s game time?

That answer is no.

Until they get live reps, you don’t know what you’re talking about and should stfu on the subject. Lmao, it’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Maybe this instead of the obvious..we have exactly 3 scholly qb’s. Pruitt opens up qb tryouts today. He decides to go with Maurer. Maurer plays well. What’s likely to happen with our luck? JG hits the portal. How you gonna go with a freshman and red shirt freshman thru the sec schedule? And why would JT hang around with the Maryland qb and Bailey coming? It’s tricky

Let each of the 2 backup QBs play for a solid half of the Chattanooga game. See LIVE action response. Bet money you'll know afterwards if you have a gamer OR JG really is just the best we have. That sets you up for Florida KNOWING the best option. Damnit try the others, I'm not watching the practice MVP play another game.

I beg to differ. JG has had going on 3 years of experience of a head start in that layout. Giving them only a half to prove themselves is not only unfair but just plain wrong.

I agree with you, but sometimes when the lights come on some guys just play better. At this point it might be worth a try. I don't criticize the kids but JG is just not the answer.

Think you missed the point... half a game each versus just continuing with JG and never knowing.

You should read Pruitts quote on Maurer. I seen it in Twitter. Goes something like this.
“BM ran a spread, up tempo offense in Hs. He’s an athlete. Runs probably a 4.6 or something. Gets the ball out of his hand.”

That was his evaluation without giving “too much” to make people wonder what the hell hes thinking because that alone is 100x better than what we’ve seen. That alone would have us 2-0 rather than 0-2.

Maybe I’m wrong for saying this and don’t mistake me for being anti- Pruitt because I’m not. But his qb evaluation is in serious question right now if he still believes JG gives this team the best chance. I like JG but his play over the last 4 games was among the worse I’ve ever seen.

I’m telling you the real issue is if he puts Maurer in he KNOWS that he likely seals up the job and that means we lose 2 qbs for next season in HB and JG.

Exactly!! We do not have a stable of QBs that can step up if needed. Most teams don’t either. JG is the guy until injury or next year. CJP is in a tough spot with this situation.
JG gets benched= Sure to transfer
TJS gets the nod and does well= BM portal
BM gets the nod and does well= TJS portal and the chance to lose HB.
HB decomits= WE ARE SCREWD!!!

Take our lumps this year and play chess. Not checkers...

No... I got the point and agree it’s better than nothing but being their first game and only giving them a half to settle in is unfair. Thats like maybe 4/5 drives. But truth be told I think it’ll be enough to overtake what we’ve seen from JG

Didnt people say the same thing about Dobbs when Worley was starting?
And kamara, my friends down here in Georgia are always asking me how we wasted a talent like kamara... I remember people clamoring for Kamara to get more action, I also remember tons of people mocking those people saying “ yeah I’m sure the arm chair QB’s know better than the coaches. Turns out they did.

According to reports dobbs was not a very good peformer in practice but when the lights came on we all know the story.

Seems to me if they put in the backup and they are better, that makes the coaches look even worse for not being able to tell they had better options. I mean didn't we blast Dooley and Jones for this kind of stuff?

Brian Maurer is far better than JG....
So Pruitt is in the same boat as Butch right now...
