Orlando Brown

This kid is an idiot. They hand passing grades to football players at Peachtree Ridge. The teachers give them a lot of extra attention. All they have to do is go to class and not act disrespectful when they attend.

What the...the writer completely left out the "dumb as a brick; can't use" part of the story! That's not balanced reporting! That's not journalistic integrity! That's not...oh, Oklahoma Daily. Never mind. Great article!

Oklahoma football: Orlando Brown returns vengeful to Tennessee - OUDaily.com: Sports

In reading this article, it seems to act as if we handled his situation dirty. If I remember correctly, he didn't qualify academically and had to look around, nothing to the fault of UT.

Nothing like having sour grapes about UT, when really the fault lands on yourself. Looking forward to a big win over the Sooners.

At the time, it didn't appear that he would meet the SEC standards for admission.

It's important to note that the BigXII standards are lower and he met those.

We could have had Brown and 6-10 330 lbs Dan Skipper from Arkansas on our OL right now.

CT,

What are most Sooner fans expecting of this game?

Can't speak for most Sooner fans but I'm making the 900 mile trek to watch two storied football programs play a close fought football game in a storied stadium. I think a non-conference game between traditional powers like OU vs Tenn is one key elements that make college football the epitome of all athletics endeavors.

OU attempts to do this annually. We have played on a home and home basis Oregon, Miami, Washington, FSU, Notre Dame and Tennessee in the last decade. The next two years we play Ohio State followed by UCLA, Nebraska, Michigan and LSU.

Maybe Orlando isn't the brightest star in the galaxy...if UT had gotten him maybe they could find a way to blame him for firing a coach with a 152-52 record so they could hire Lane Kiffin. :)

(Oh yeah, I forgot...OU got rid of Barry Switzer and hired Howard Shnellenberger and John Blake. Tie!)

Considering the BigXII took WVU, Im surprised they have academic standards!

Earlier posts are correct. Butch and Tennessee wasn't/still isn't at the point with depth they can take kids who end up not qualifying.

Saw same article last night and jumped over to the recruiting forum to find out what happened. Typical kid, blames others and not himself. He knew his grades were low and in need of improvement and still didn't make it happen.

Don't know how they will call it but I think as is the case with most non-conference games, excepting the Pac12, the visiting team's conference provides the officials. last year the SEC provided the refs.

MushMouth Moore and his SEC crew called the game in Norman last yr. Moore thought Sooners were bamer (same color) and OU got every call. I remember a couple of close calls that all fell OU way. I don't expect much from the BigXII crew either.

At the end of his time in Norman, they had guns, hookers and coke in the football dorms...hardly a Fulmer situation.

Teams see and know with great certainty what a recruit's highschool transcripts look like. Kid was a risk we couldn't take IMO. We desperately needed a left tackle in the 2013 class. Seriously doubt we told him to hit the bricks unless it was absolutely necessary.

He certainly got in to Ok and was cleared by NCAA.
Also, who did they replace him with in that class. Answer: no one.

He got accepted into a big 5 school and cleared by NCAA. What the heck are you talking about?

I don't like to judge any kid on his chose of schools, but if it was all true about his academics its nobody's fault but his own. He needs to man up and quit blaming everyone else on his poor academic decisions. The funny thing is that he would be a Vol right now if it was all up to him. Let's hope our boys give him a taste of what he missed out on.

Always doom and gloom from you, I bet your a real hoot to hang out with! Smh.
Facts aren't doom and gloom. Focus on facts and stop taking personal shots. It says more about you than me.

MAny in this thread are taking shots at the character of this young man as if he was a dumbass who didn't apply himself. He isn't at remedial school. He was accepted by OU and qualified according to NCAA standards. Those are facts. It's also a fact that Jones did not replace him in that signing class.
