Negative? Stop focusing on your personal animosity towards me, which is negative BTW.

I have no personal animosity here. Just calling what I see, which is you taking every chance you can to cast a negative shadow on the program in anyway you can.

Player sign in Feb. How would you know for certain whether a player would qualify or not?

I'd like to know the whole story. UT definitely elected to stop recruiting Brown. Now, perhaps he would not have qualified. He obviously was NCAA qualified and Ok qualified.
Little question he has some bad feelings about how this was handled. I do too.

Justified or not he is entitled to his opinion. I would like to know how this affected your life enough to have negative feelings 2 years later.

I question the intelligence of anyone who refers to another as hoss.
Question for you. Has Brown's character and intelligence been questioned by posters in this thread?
A yes or no will suffice.

It has, but not by me. And while we're on the subjects of character and intelligence, seriously beginning to wonder about yours....chief.

You seem hellbent on the ideas that ...

1. Butch did the kid wrong....

However, Butch desperately needed Brown, an OT, especially after Dooley signed zero OLs in 2012. And he didn't exactly replace him with another 4 star OT if your argument is that he gratuitously cut Brown loose for a better recruit. We may have "replaced" him with Jayshon Robertson, who came to UT as a DEFENSIVE tackle.

2. Brown had no role in Tennessee's decision to let him go....

However, Brown's academic standing was a constant topic of conversation in his recruitment and ultimately became THE reason why he's not a Vol.

3. All schools have the same academic requirements...

However, my kid had a 4.3 highschool gpa, made a 28 on her ACT...got into to Tennessee no problem....Dartmouth however, not so much.

4. No 20 year college students are immature or if they are, they all throw beer bottles at cars and rape coeds.....

However, my 20 year old daughter is mature in a lot of ways, in other ways she isn't....just like about 90% of all 20 year olds, and I'm certain she's neither thrown beer bottles at cars nor has she raped anybody in her sorority.

So, you can continue to ignore the facts around the Brown situation and continue to believe that Butch screwed the kid or not, I really don't care. But I would suggest you at least work on your abilities to reason and apply logic for your own good...Champ.

Clear? I don't see how it's clear. He was cleared by OU, Big 12 and NCAA. Thatvis clear.

At that point in time, Jones nor UT had the luxury of signing an academic risk. Remember? Their grades had sunk to the point where they were in danger of losing scholarships. Jones needed OL's that were sure to qualify even if they weren't quite as talented as someone like Brown.

It appears in retrospect that he probably would have made it in to UT and been a contributor. But the risks were too high at the time.

I don't deny that as a very real possibility.

Chief, hoss. Brilliant.
i'm not the first person to say so regarding his recruitment. Brown had been a commit for a long time. UT chose to offer him, and they waiting very late in the process to pull his offer, which his family had a problem with. He was very devistated by this. Who wouldn't be?

Perhaps you remember the DE out of Florida last year, that was allowed to make a self-paid unofficial (one of many), only to have his offer pulled a few days later? If you don't think that's low rent then I don't know what to say.

Brown has been accused in the thread of slacking, being immature, etc. Why don't you address those people if you are so concerned with the facts? At least be consistent.

Strawman. I've made no such claim. It is wrong for posters to throw this kid under the bus as a lazy POS because he WAS NCAA qualified to play football, and WAS admitted to school. That's why I've repeated it. Many here have acted like this kid is in prep school, publicly blasting UT. He hasn't. A teammate likely spoke out of turn. And so, Brown has been accussed of publicly blasting UT, which he hasn't. He is and was upset with how the staff parted ways with him. Period. Butch demonstrated last recruiting cycle that he can and does handle some of these things poorly.

Your reply is evidence that my reference went totally over your head. Again, posters were name repping Brown as lazy and immature and in the wrong. I sighted bottle throwing and rape as some REAL examples of bad behavior, for comparison. Sorry you didnt get it.

Wouldn't mind at all, but also would love a home and home with Ohio State. Always wanted that.

I got every one of your very simplistic, elementary points. As s matter of fact, I addressed a couple that you evidently didn't recall making.

You go ahead and address the guys you have a concern with, I'm only interested in recalling accurately what happened. Kid didn't qualify to get into school at Knoxville so, even though UT desperately needed and wanted him on the roster, so they had to let him go....he created the issue by not handling his business in the classroom, so expect people to take offense at what appears to be severe dislike of the school thst wanted to provide him a free education has he been mature enough to do what scores of other kids on our current roster have done. But, whatever....Nancy?
