Oliviyah Edwards requesting out

Maybe DW should interview the players to find out exactly why they are leaving. If she is mistreating them then that would be a good reason for firing her. If every player dislikes her, why in the world would he not fire her. This is all about him, and the various fans that have posted that scenario seem to be right in their thinking. Maybe he should be fired first.
When players went to DW he discounted their views and brushed them aside, so they hit the portal and slow trickled the news that they were leaving. UTAD then put out a hit piece against assistant coaches that has since been shredded in the court of public opinion.

Compare that to VA who conducted an internal investigation and fired their coach who just took them to the first sweet 16 in something like 17 years. UTAD is actively trying to hide and deflect what happened in this program. That’s despicable.

Says on X Virginia is going to make a push for Kenny Brooks or Close of UCLA say they are willing to pay the money it takes to get one of them.

What are the views which were the main concern of the players? Coaching incompetence? Mistreatment of players? Verbal abuse? Playing style? An indifference by Caldwell to their status/value as players and people?

It's hard to get a read on what exactly has gone wrong here with all the innuendo and talk. Clearly, the buck stops at the top, but some issues may be fixable and others probably won't be. If Caldwell doesn't have the knowledge, temperament, and people skills to handle high D1 basketball, then this is all fruitless. If she's merely very, very green, then there's some optimism. I tend to lean to the former, but I don't know much of anything other than what I see and hear from a distance.

Virginia even had me looking at their salaries and open jobs yesterday 🤣
I know they are going to need to pay a lot to get either of those coaches named. Close is only making 800 k and Kenny is about 1.5 million all together with the deal he signed with Kentucky.

IF he did what you say with the players then he threw Kim under the bus which is hard to believe since he is the reason she is coming back next season. Your story just doesn't make sense he would do that.

I don't see Cori leaving LA, but she would be a great hire and I would be super jealous.
She should be in for a big raise out there if not that is the only way she might head East. It also does change the travel some to the better. They do have some West Coast teams but most of the ACC is bunched together.

I do absolutely see Kenny leaving for a pay day tho. He and his teams are not built for the SEC.

I think Serena Williams and her husband are big time benefactors for the women’s sports at UVA. There’s a possibility they could pay enough.

Cori Close is a native Californian whose mother -- affectionately called "Mother Bruin" -- is a regular fixture at home games. I can't imagine a 54-year-old wanting to leave gorgeous Los Angeles, California, with its perfect weather to go back East to Virginia to start all over again. And what about her mother?

Kenny? Yeah, I could see that.

She had a promising 1st year punctuated by the UCONN win. Followed by a monster recruiting class.
But this season D1 teams with a pulse figured out her gimmicky system. The top teams embarrassed us in front of national audiences. It all spiraled unbelievably fast.

QUESTION: couldn't DW make the change now, make a "splash" hire, and still save some of the roster (and recruiting class)?

That’s IF there is a splash hire guaranteed.

If we don’t and we try to make the move, we risk looking like a program that won’t commit to a coach and can’t land a quality coach.

Even if next year is a bad one, it gives more time to filter the back channels for someone.

That’s really what it boils down to. Do we have a true splash hire available. If not, I’m not for a coaching change.

Kenny is a hometown guy from right over the mountain. I could see him considering it especially if the money was right. UVA has plenty of money to offer either one of them too. They still have to be kicking themselves for not getting Dawn early on.

I can't imagine Cori Close, who just told the press last week how tired she was being a head coach, will take on a new head coaching post clear across the country.

I don’t think we need a top coach, just someone tha runs a normal system and can put together a roster. As long as we’re Tennessee and have money to pay we‘ll get recruits.

You know, from what I saw of Kellie Harper, through her 3 National Championships as a player at Tennessee, and through being the Head Coach, she really cared about, and genuinely loved the Lady Vols. She has such high character, that even now, after everything DW has done, I don’t believe Kellie is laughing at what has happened to her beloved Lady Vols.
Still think Kellie Harper got a raw deal.
I will always think her husband as an
Assistant was her downfall. Jmo

I agree need a knowledgeable coach that understands the game enough to adjust during a game, but anyone running a normal system can win with the right players.
