Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIV

I want Gruden but other than that I don't go in with preconceived notions. I'm sure some would be disappointed with results but I wouldn't.

Mullen actually has a history of significant over performance but I’m very concerned about his ability to recruit. Petrino, similarly, has at points been the single largest over performer that I’ve ever seen, but his recruiting is stable and mediocre.

As all coaches are tethered to their talent, just with varying degrees of rope, those cats would win many games they shouldn’t (and certainly have net gains) but not enough to consistently challenge for championships. Having Petrino at UT would be an amazing experiment, I think. If he could keep recruiting in the top 15 it could be magical...before the potential implosion.

Serious question. How will everyone react if Florida hires Chip Kelly or Dan Mullen very fast, and we either keep Butch or fire him and hire someone just like him long after Florida makes their hire? I'm just curious.

Hey bub... Just FYI... You stumbled into the wrong thread. We are not buying what you are trying to sell.

Of course he does. It’s literally explained in the contract.

Now, if you’re suggesting there’s some other deal that modifies his contract (that remains to be seen, but isn’t impossible) your initial response is interesting in that you were insinuating my understanding of his contractual buyout is incorrect, when it isn’t (unless the link I posted actually isn’t his contract).

I think the net either way is still the same. He gets his buyout reduced each day because he is making his current salary. It appears to me that firing him today or in 2 weeks results in the same payment by UT.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!

Warning: Things that can kill a Grude-on

1) a negavol, troll, and plain dip$hit, and
2) the downhill portion of the rollercoaster, and
3) Butch giving a presser, and most definitely,
4) taking Daniela away!😡😡

Daniela is gone? Noooooo! Good thing I saved her to my phone...

Line in the sand making me nervous

Between AV, MIT, BCarter and the info I had shared with me about his buyout being finalized earlier in the week, COMBINED with Hubbs and VQ and WBIR saying he’s been fired.......rumors of meetings and the AD telling the press to be prepared.......he has to be gone tomorrow.

Nothing else makes sense.

Coasty, you ain't hit me back. I don't know why you're so chill. This statement contradicts itself. Note the Bolded Italicized portions:

so which is it?
future unknown or been decided/matter of time?

I'm not seeing it.

Sorry Preacher... Thought I already did

The first line I believe is referring to his exit date... they are unsure if he will continue to coach past next week but the second line refers to that FACT that he HAS bee fired

You know the next MNF after Butch getting fired will have EVERYONE watching lol

ESPN getting in on the negotiations. They obviously know how hungry VN is for it to happen.
Look at the boost in viewers they get from it.:zeitung_lesen:

You're right but this is Tennessee.

Appears that’s how it reads. But contracts, like anything in life, with enough legal maneuvering, can be modified by both parties—especially when in aggreance. And this definitely happened.

Eh, it doesn’t really take much maneuvering to modify a contract when both parties agree, but that’s beside the point.

Just to make sure I understand, Butch has agreed to leave under new terms? This new contract has definitely been modified to a fixed buyout?

Tomorrow has to be the day of exit for Jones. Literally no other scenario makes sense.

Then it HAS to do something with MNF or an announcement of the new coach coming before next Saturday. That's the only way it literally wouldn't make sense.

Or am I missing something? How else could it literally make no sense?

Yes...heard this last week.

I take it to mean how many future games beyond Saturday will he coach... the author did not know for sure... but that he was fired and his exit time is yet to be decided...
