I want Gruden but other than that I don't go in with preconceived notions. I'm sure some would be disappointed with results but I wouldn't.
Mullen actually has a history of significant over performance but Im very concerned about his ability to recruit. Petrino, similarly, has at points been the single largest over performer that Ive ever seen, but his recruiting is stable and mediocre.
As all coaches are tethered to their talent, just with varying degrees of rope, those cats would win many games they shouldnt (and certainly have net gains) but not enough to consistently challenge for championships. Having Petrino at UT would be an amazing experiment, I think. If he could keep recruiting in the top 15 it could be magical...before the potential implosion.
