This is one time I am very comfortable with the news... I do not believe the date has anything to do with anything....

Butch met with Currie tonight and his fate was sealed.... He is gone.... Now it is just a matter of timing... I believe this has as much to do with being in an intern type position for him as anything else.

Relax.... the deal is done....

Soon!

Coasty ... you serious? I'm freaking out, and you, of all people, are telling me to relax and the deal is done? Okay, but I've been out so, if you would be so kind as to fill me in as to what changed your tune. I need some hope bro. help.

I want to believe. Got burned last go around on Gruden. Can't keep up with 20,000 posts. If we swing and miss here, UT football is doomed for 10+ years. Hope it happens SOON so we can salvage a recruiting class. Haven't watched since about the 3rd quarter of the Georgia game. Weird fall to not have football on all the time. Yes this is a stream of consciousness, that's what happens to passionate fans since we fired Fulmer. God help us.

I am of this same opinion, Coasty. I am actually more confident and more at peace at this moment than ever before in this process.

If we didn't have our guy right now (like UF), wouldn't it make sense to go ahead and fire CBJ in an attempt to save face and appear to be "out in front" of things? Swain even said as much earlier. It would directly benefit us to come out and pretend we had it all together even though behind the scenes it was pure chaos.

To the contrary, if we've already got our "boom" guy, it doesn't really matter how or when the "boom" is announced or how many people get ticked off along the way. Once the "boom" is announced everyone will be saying you're a genius/hero and commending you for getting it done.

In the words of Aaron Rodgers, R-E-L-A-X people! Soon!

Butch and Currie met to go over what they’d discussed a few weeks to ago to make sure they were on the same page. Your done here and will receive X amount of dollars. In exchange, we want you to coach one more week and keep the guys fighting for a bowl game, going to class and finishing strong. Are we clear?

That’s my guess.

I don't disagree. Another theory I had was if there is any truth to the Butch to South Alabama rumor they may have talked about that. Maybe South Alabama is requesting to officially talk to Jones about it. I could see a conversation between Currie and Jones about how to handle that in the public eye. Just a thought....

This! ALSO

Gruden is still +250 BUT why is this the ONLY futures bet on the site, also why is the cutoff Tuesday at noon to place a bet.

Also just because it is offshore doesn't mean it's solely owned offshore. UT influence?

Tuesday cut off is interesting

Read this last statement carefully:

"Head coach Butch Jones and athletic director John Currie met Sunday to discuss the future of the Tennessee football program, sources told GoVols247 Sunday evening.
Barring any unforeseen developments Sunday night or Monday morning, Jones will coach Tennessee (3-5, 0-5 SEC) this week against Southern Miss (5-3, 3-2 Conference USA), those sources said, but the fifth-year head coach's future beyond Saturday is unknown.

The situation remains fluid, as sources have told GoVols247 that Jones's fate has been decided, with only the timing and the announcement of his firing to be settled.

Looks like a Done Deal to me... We all cool guys.... RELAX, drink some prune juice and it will all be fine in the morning//////

He knows what he's walking away with. Whether he leaves tomorrow or at the end of the year (which won't happen). He knows his number already.

Of course he does. It’s literally explained in the contract.

Now, if you’re suggesting there’s some other deal that modifies his contract (that remains to be seen, but isn’t impossible) your initial response is interesting in that you were insinuating my understanding of his contractual buyout is incorrect, when it isn’t (unless the link I posted actually isn’t his contract).

What have I missed? I took a break for a few hours to carve a pumpkin for my son. So the Griffith leak is a sham and Currie doesn’t know how to tell we have an incompetent football coach?

My 2,000th post!!!!

I was hoping to save this for a happier post filled with Peyton dancing and all other manner of celebratory gifs. However, here we are. As Vol fans it feels like yet another kick to the nuts every second that Butch is the head coach.

Here is where I have a case for optimism. I have NO inside sources and NO inside information whatsoever. This is simply my assessment of things I think "could" be happening right now.

Every day they trot ole Butchy out there as our head coach is nauseating for us. I get it. Here is why I think it is better for us in the long run. Florida fires their coach who has won 2 straight East titles. They are now "officially" on the hunt for a new coach. They can form search committees, talk to agents, etc. They now have a head start on us in that regard. That would seem to be a bad thing and put us behind the 8 ball since everybody and their brother knows Butch won't be here next year. Why would Currie let him dangle like that and waste time searching for the next coach? This tells me that we have identified our target and could/should be working to get that done. If we didn't have a target in mind, we would have to go through those same steps like everybody else. So, each day we have Butch is a day I tell myself we are working to get a deal done with our #1 target. I wished he would have pulled the trigger after Bama and let an interim take us the rest of the way, but there is obviously a reason to let him dangle.

Now, all of this could be trumped if it turns out Currie is a complete buffoon and doesn't know his butt from a hole in the ground....which could end up being true. If so, heaven help us.

very nice post this is exactly the only hope I have remaining. It just feels like such a let down every time I see ol butchey and now esp since Florida seen that things were going south and took IMMEDIATE action. I dont care if were stalling to make things right and get our #1 Grude but if were stalling and end up putting google magee on the podium I dont know if I can let it go.

Power T has a good observation. Let him meet with the team in the morning and resign at noon. That’s what I’m believing for. No way he coaches in Neyland Saturday.

This would seem plausible except Freak received message from UTAD providing Butch's availability to media for both Monday and Wednesday. Why tell media he's available Wed if he's resigning Mon?

I do not know tthe significance of it but Fulmer and Majors both fired on a Tuesday night. At least that was when the media let the cat out of the bag.

Also after MNF, also closer to 11/3 (and happens to bemy bday), also two days after butchs media supporters publicly outing a admin meeting to discuss future.

Well this is truly pathetic. How come Currie is treating Butch with more respect than he did with Fulmer? How come this administration has treated this fan base like complete s*** for the last 10 years? If he trots Butch out there in Saturday I’m gonna lose my f***** mind. This university and program is by far the biggest laughing stock in the whole country. If they trot out another up and comer, I’m done. If Butch is out there Saturday, I truly hope there’s a half empty stadium with more “Fire Currie” signs than “Fire Butch” signs.
