Been following VN several years and never posted until this year. I supported Jones until the FL game. I now see the light, please forgive me for holding out. However, Jones did help to start rebuilding the program (i.e., laid the foundation, but never started laying the brick by brick), but his time has come. I also provided my thoughts on new HC options in another thread. But jeez, after reading this one...you all made me rethink my original HC options...I now also say Gruden or bust!!! Hopefully he will be Tennessee's new "sheriff"...SOON?

Boom!

Said no competitor ever. Get out of here with that afraid crap. Most coaches would look at this as an opportunity to go down as a legendary coach that won a Super Bowl and a college national championship. You actually think someone like Gruden is afraid of competition?

I absolutely agree from the competition standpoint. However, anything less than championship football at Tennessee would impact his future earnings outside of coaching. That’s the 7-10 million dollar question.

No it wouldn't. You honestly don't think he could go right back to announcing? And you honestly thing he would think for a second that he would fail? That's not how competitors of his caliber think. If they did they wouldn't be where they're at. That and he's already a multi millionaire in his 50s. He could prob retire now if he wanted to.

Ok, tired of lurking in the shadows. It's time to step out into the light!

I want this to be true so desperately! I can't stand to see my beloved Vols mired down in mediocrity. I want us to be relevant in the SEC and national stage again. I long for the glory days to be restored! (Springsteen singing in the background)

GBO!!

Soon...

Anyone that's half a coach beats SC by at least 3 TD's yesterday. IMO he just didn't care. He just looked like he had given up already

He cared. He and his staff just do not have at capability to make in-game adjustments to counter the defense's in-game adjustments. It is his biggest deficiency, and it is what has caused us to cough up so many second half leads during his tenure.

Sadly, mediocrity would be an improvement.

Did you have the TV muted yesterday? They trotted out Tommy Tuberville...aka Boomhauer. They’re bleeding! Any credible talking head with a larynx ain’t worried about getting a broadcasting job.

Don’t insult Boomhauer that way!

He even looks a little like Tuberville 😂

We’re agreeing on the point that competitive nature would want the challenge of bringing championships to Tennessee.

My point is that as a mature man in his 50’s who is already worth millions and is currently sitting on a known golden egg, do you risk that?

To be clear, I REALLY hope he does. But from a strict business/finance/future perspective, I have my doubts.
