I was getting positive info as late as yesterday from a couple if sources. I've been told Gruden reached out in spring with interest. I was told a week ago that Gruden to TN was the worst kept secret in the NFL.

We'll see what comes out, but I'm hearing that Hart went off the rails from the pressure the boosters. He did his own thing in the dark of night to make this happen.

I was informed that they had finally gotten money for certain assistants and deal was all but done with Gruden. My source even identified certain coaches that Gruden had hand picked. Total Deal was $11 mill.

Screw UT!!!!

I really don't understand how you let this slip through your fingers especially, when you have two opportunities to get the guy. That's why you never put someone in a high position that has a HUGE ego!

Sorry if anyone feels like I lead anyone on. I was just relaying the info as I got it. I told you all I believed Hart would make the right decision, knowing he had a second shot at the guy, but I guess he is too set in his ways.

When I told you yesterday my friend who is the director of the news had told me a name this was the guy, but I thought surely they wouldn't hire someone that's been beaten by Dooley!

I can tell you a lot of boosters are going to be very upset including myself. I just really hope this doesn't kill the one thing UT still has. The best fans in the country! I will still donate to the school, but I can't speak for everyone. I really hope this doesn't get really ugly

Been a lot of fun. I'm a vol to the core. This guy is an upgrade and may be a legend before it's over but it is a pr nightmare created by Hart. Let's get behind our school and our new coach! Gruden and Strong are now enemies of the state.

Hart was not going to make a hire that would jeapordize Bama's spot in the SEC. Dave Hart and Jimmy Cheek should be fired and run out of town Battle style.

Directly to jail, don't pass Go. Hart is the worst thing that has ever happened to Tennessee football. Way worse than Dooley. Hart managed to hire the one guy Dooley owned.

To be honest, I appreciate you guys. I felt more apart of the process than ever before and enjoyed your insights. I don't remember any of the OGs posting 100%, so who knows what happened to kill the Gruden deal. We know it was real at one time due to the Stephen Hargis article in the TFP. It also gave me hope that my alma mater was not as inept as it was being reported in the media. Butch Jones could end up being a great coach, but the way this hire was made makes me feel like we are settling. Tennessee is better than that and hopefully some things change to fix it.

Please stop acting like spoiled kids who didn't get their way. Either you are a Vol fan or not. Some will choose to go cheer for other teams like A&M, others will continue to support UT.

I truly feel sad for Butch Jones today. Through no fault of his own he's getting roasted as a pariah because fans didn't get what they wanted. Sad that his first impression of this university it's that the fans are jerks.
