To the OG's: Thanks for everything you brought to the board. I was wanting info and you provided that. Never doubted you. I hate what Hart has done to UT and fear we are going to be a long time recovering from this.

I guess we're now all going thru the shock-anger-acceptance process. It may take a while for me!

I would like to know why the top coach candidates for the football program act like UT has leprocy or something! The media seems to believe that we are a mediocre program that thinks its at a premier level. Was it the fact that other top candidates didn't want to be 2nd choice behind Jon Gruden? Maybe.

Instead of a sure thing, we are now left with hope. We hope we have found the diamond in the rough. The good news is that he can't do worse than Dooley, so the program will improve.

I've been obsessed with this thread for the last three weeks. Now I can get finally get some work done and start my Christmas shopping. I'll miss the personalities that I had come to enjoy on this thread. I almost hate to see it come to an end!

Well, to the guys on this board I started with...don't want to try and name each of you I might forget someone...it was fun keeping hope alive regardless of what anyone says. What else did we have? My logical side said weeks ago that there was plenty of proof UT would get it wrong and NONE that they would get it right. Sorry that my emotional side didn't win this one.

I truly feel sad for Butch Jones today. Through no fault of his own he's getting roasted as a pariah because fans didn't get what they wanted. Sad that his first impression of this university it's that the fans are jerks.

I was getting positive info as late as yesterday from a couple if sources. I've been told Gruden reached out in spring with interest. I was told a week ago that Gruden to TN was the worst kept secret in the NFL.

We'll see what comes out, but I'm hearing that Hart went off the rails from the pressure the boosters. He did his own thing in the dark of night to make this happen.

You really should have gotten a degree in something other that fraternity studies. Reports that I am hearing from "sources" (i.e. media) are that the Haslam's cooled on Gruden and that is why it didn't go through. You just don't get that Hart was a puppet in the Gruden deal and that everything was done behind closed doors WITHOUT him. How do you think that any details that there were, were kept so closely guarded? If Hart had been jetting around we would have known about it immediately. I would imagine Hart was told to sit still and work on the contract and that the "negotiators" would handle it. They handled it and they stopped the deal. Stop blaming someone for your inability to have a life other than UT football and for not being able to spell.
