Stillwater AD in chaos right now

Via third party, but one I trust and one that would know being where he got the info from. Don't ask me how well placed, but it's well placed.

Doesn't know outcome at this time.

The Drive just said Pickens is quoted as saying Gundy is gone. Unconfirmed. But that’s what they just said.,

Sad that UT is reduced to being so desperate to throw ridiculous $$$ at any coach willing to listen. Whether the school rushes to overpay someone or gets turned down again the school look like a joke. They need to slow the roll, regroup, and launch a proper coaching search with somebody other than Currie in charge. Whoever it is, I hope they can find success but frankly none of the names mentioned lately excite me.

Wait, so you're mad that UT is finally going to throw top money at a possible top coach? Who has shown he can win at the college level.

But you weren't mad to offer $10M or more to a guy who hasn't coached in what 15 years?

Wasn't it pretty much agreed by everyone that it would take ridiculous money to get a top coach from a sitting P5 school here?

I get the allure of Gruden, he'd probably make a good/great hire, but there are more questions about him and his ability in the college game than there is Gundy.

Gundy has been at Okla State from 2005-2017

ONE conference championship in 13 YEARS ??!?! ONE !!!

you're excited about THAT ???? SMDH

You must think Mark Richt is a coaching GENIUS then
He won TWO conf championships in 15 YEARS !!!

You do realize Currie is in full blown panic mode? I would bet that the smart a$$ smirk is gone.

Look around the country. What league has the best coaches? I'll give everyone several hints, it's not the SEC. The SEC has Saban. The ACC, Big 12, Big 10 and Pac 12 all have better coaches than the SEC outside of Saban. This was spelled out yesterday by Cowherd. The best coaches no longer want to deal with the level of passion SEC fans have, so they have been going to other conferences.

Well... its not like we have A.D.D.... I mean we love our football....

...Oh, look a moose.

I respect where you're coming from punch, I just have to disagree. Any coach at this point is Haslam buying time for himself and his guy. It is absolutely bigger than hiring one coach. I know this for a fact.

Currie HAS to be gone first. And he can be, we just have to give the big money time to get it done. Vol Nation can do this.

Fire Before Hire.

This is absolutely correct. The Governor was the last of my contacts yesterday. I'm sure the email never reached him, but here it is. I believe Jimmy Haslam is in nuclear CYA mode because of his exposure from Sunday. Hence the stupid offer (amount of $) to Gundy and the attempt to saddle Peyton with Schiano. We need not only the big money folks to get this done, but we need a good investigative reporter pushing from the political side. I believe there is more than one angle to force the dis-association of Jimmy Haslam from UT. Jmho...

Governor Haslam,

Your brother's involvement, in concert with Director Currie and Chancellor Davenport, in the ill-conceived and deliberately deceitful attempted hire of Greg Schiano; has created a conflict of interest with respect to your position as Chair of the UT Board of Trustees.

These three individuals, not the UT students or fans outraged by the irresponsible behavior, have damaged and embarrassed our University through their actions. Director Currie stated the next coach would be of the highest character.

Coach Schiano is unfortunately associated, whether complicit or not, with the most heinous scandal in the history of college athletics. Ignoring that fact, his reputation as an NFL coach was of questionable integrity. This is far from displaying the promised, high character.

There can be no doubt that these individuals placed themselves and their interests before the interests of the University and therefore the State.

As chair of the BOT, you have a responsibility to protect the University. Your brother, through Currie and Davenport, attempted to manipulate UT leadership to achieve their own agenda. In so doing they tarnished the image, brought reproach upon and financially damaged UT.

As I see it, you have two options to remove this obvious conflict of interest. You can:

- Resign, or

- Require resignations from Directory Currie and Chancellor Davenport and announce the formal dis-association of your brother from the University.

Neither inaction nor allowing the current regime to hire a coach remove the conflict of interest. In fact they constitute an attempt to cover up the conflict for the purpose of personal/familial gain or protection. I urge you to put our State first and announce the resignations and dis-associations forthwith.

Sincerely,

So the fans should just give in and be okay with a maniacal decision by an inept AD and boosters. Again he isn’t worth 8 million. More along the 6 million mark is what he’s worth. While you’re at it. Just raise it to 10 and see if we can get an even better higher.

I’m glad you’re not the decision maker. Oh wait, we already have one in Currie that thinks Schiano is an okay hire.

Do you somehow not realize the situation we're in right now? I mean did you sleep through the weekend? We have two choices. Open the wallet for a proven hire, then add a few million to that because of Sunday or get coach McGoogle and ride the bus again in 3 years.

I’ll post this again. I have a friend at MSU who’s friends with Chad Morris. TN is conducting a phone interview wih him as we speak.

I've seen this post three times in two Duff threads And all three times you said your friend Morris worked at a place he does in fact not work at. Chad Morris is at SMU

let me ask this...IF gruden deal was agreed upon as stated before, then why could that deal not happen at this point? If he wanted the job before per the boosters, and even currie said the deal was looking like Gruden what would stop him now from going that route

Just a thought here. If Gundy says yes- an MOU will have to be signed by two before anyone leaves the ground in IT jet. Anyone k ow where DiPietro or ""Sally" are today?

I agree, but as I said yesterday, even in this one thread this message is not getting thru - much less on the whole board and even less on Twitter. Everyone talking about the potential hires. The ONLY thing that will bring down Haslam et al is to put the whole Gruden story out in public with verification. If that's not possible to do, then people look at us that believed like we're delusional - thus the rest of the story of urgency to topple Haslam falls on deaf ears.

Either way, our final destination remains the same, we are going to be an average to sometime above average to maybe a chance at SEC East winner once a decade.
