While I'm in the boxing business, I have been involved in these type deals many times as well. Maybe its apples to oranges, but the statements from Lamonte and Gruden do not feel familiar to me at all. I don't think they want any part of this.

Im with ya, I dont get jumping ship at this point. Since Wednesday when Gruden was on Mike and Mike, nothing from the press or Grudens camp makes any sense. The assistants salaries excuse makes .ei. no sense and as was posted somewhere in a Gruden thread, Hart wants to look good in all this so suppose this flight is to meet with Gruden "one last time" and tomorrow during the SEC championship buildup they're talking about the Gruden to Tennessee deal being back on, maybe, and we're not pissing Slive off announcing a hire but getting plenty of air time. Then I think Monday prior to MNF Gruden takes the job, big buildup for ESPN and MNF. Way too many sources Isaying its been done and way to much BS that doesnt make any sense to make me doubt it, I'll believe until someone else is announced at a press conference.

I totally agree nothing fits..doesn't seem right gotta believe game is on.

Carter... asked several times in last thread but it was moving too fast.

Have you talked with your a/v guy that supposedly set up the press conference equipment in the locker room? Did he take it all back down or is it just sitting there?

Worse day evey. Got a flat tire on way to work, all this " no gruden" talk from the media. Come home to a sick baby and wide meets me at the door and says my Bassett hound died had her longer than I have been married, then after I get done burying her I walk in and see that finish to the basketvols game then walk back in the room and see the Alabama highlights

Is it to much to ask to get a coach so that tennessee dont end up on the ******* I n g highlights anymore I'm tired of this $hit.

Constantly get picked on up here in OSU land do you guys. But the Myer hire people up here the same way that we UT fans are with gruden. A lot of local media denouncing it also well connected people to the program saying it wasn't going to happen he retired and his family and all that jazz then outta the blue he was the next coach.

Still have hope gruden is comming.

This really feels plausible. I can't believe I just typed that. This really does make sense.

I appreciate the support. and InVOLuntary - anyone who has ever dealt with high level negotiations before read what you wrote and knew there was something there.

I don't know for sure, but the very thing we're speculating about ad nauseam is almost a carbon copy of what I deal with at least once a week.

I want Gruden, I believe we can get Gruden, but I am not trying to prop anyone or anything up. Just calling it like I see it.

I think this is what happened, just speculating but this is the place for this. Imagine this:

Dooley is failing. A big money guy finds himself in a position to meet Jon. They converse about UT football. Then Dooley is failing worse, booster a calls booster b and talks about the Gruden conversation. They contact him to gauge his interest and then to know what sort of package he needs Gruden calls a few people to see what their salary demands would be. He also speaks of concerns about recruiting and the red tape in the college game. He tells booster a and booster b a ridiculous salary number to not seem like he is closing a door maybe, but high enough he expects a no. They get the money together and start talking "done deal" because of this.

Not at all saying what happened is anything close to this but its possible Gruden got hung up in a Booster fantasy and was forced to say no.

There are tons of scenarios where Hart is not the villain here. Just trying to be reasonable and think what could have happened.

Definitely plausible.

I am sure he has his reasons.... but I was believing the impossible before he came into the thread... I am sure he has great contacts but my money has always been on the $$$$ people and not the AD office.

I may be proved wrong, but it will be when they hire a new coach not named Gruden... not because of some tweet, internet post, or Jimmy Hymns report coming from Hart

I still think bcarter was a victim of controlled leaks.

I think this is what broke my heart the most. That his agent, supposedly, speaking on his behalf would say such derogatory things about us as fans and UT. It hurts to think that a man who was given his first GA job here and has family with UT ties and professes to love UT would treat us that way. Its like getting a divorce and finding out that the ex's family never liked you. I have a hard time believing that Gruden would want that impression of him out there.

Perfectly said. My exact reaction to the news. So call me a party pooper if you want. Me and all my 8 posts are staying (til I'm banned anyway) and you can take your aggravation out on Gruden's AGENT, not me.

Where do you guys come up with this stuff? This is so far off the map you're on another planet.

Why don't you enlighten people. If you have nothing to add, why comment?

I am not trying to be mean at all. Unlike others, I suspect that you may have knowledge about it. Maybe you can't tell what you know. I get that.

But that doesn't mean it's ok to post vague comments or insult other people's intelligence.

It makes people not like you. Maybe that doesn't matter though.

It does sound like they are trying to distance themselves from this rapidly almost as if they felt that they were done wrong.

So what happened then?

After UF game the big boosters had a secret meeting with Gruden. Asked him what he needed money wise and admin wise. Fast forward some and after many more talks a deal is agreed upon and an MOU is signed agreeing upon the terms needed for Gruden to coach at UT. These meetings were between Gruden and the boosters and no one else. The boosters take this to Hart and tell him who they want and what is needed.

That is the gist of it. Believe it or not but jay and OV can back me up on that. This all happened and is 100% fact.
