Because when Fulmer Majors Peyton and the rest announce him as UT Head Coach, no one will care what his agent said today except Jimmy Hyams.

There are still three weeks left in Gruden's current job.

I don't understand all of this either. It does seem really, really weird. Also still nothing official directly from Gruden or the UTAD....

I'm still holding out hope but unless hart dons his superman cape, I don't know how he can pull it together here. I'm an optimist though, so maybe it can happen.

If the cliffs note about fisher not being contacted is true, I just want to know what the eff hart has been doing for two weeks? Either he is a mastermind of deception to rival Houdini or he is the laziest SOB I've ever seen. Get a move on man!

I think that would be amazing but a lot less likely than this is still for Gruden.

I still am not buying that he would make his in-laws' lives a little miserable and toy with his wife's University. Doesn't add up. Could be wrong, but based on some of the facts ($18 million, timing of firing, connections to UT, so forth) I don't buy it.

Been doing a little thinking....
1) why fire Dooley before Kentucky, if you're just now starting to interview?

2). Why not come out and say SOMETHING about Gruden not being in play, knowing that 97.6% of Vol fans want him, and are talking about religiously?

I DO NOT blame Hart for this. I put the blame on Gruden for sitting back and enjoying the attention knowing he wasn't coming here. I no longer believe he contacted UT, and also no longer believe he ever had a contract or MOU in hand. JMO but its what I choose to believe looking at all the information. Take it or leave it. A little bitter I got burned, but cannot tell those people that burned me "Hey I posted that **** you told me online and now look ridiculous" lol.

Hart will get scapegoated but I bet when its all said and done and everything comes out it will prove that UT has infinitely more interest in hiring Gruden than Gruden ever had toward UT.

Tennessee has to decide if it wants to be a football school anymore or not.

It's really as simple as that.

As the assistant SEC coach said in the cliff notes - UT needs to decide if they want to play big boy football or not. The SEC is as strong as ever - if you aren't shooting to win national titles, you aren't shooting to compete in the league.

I'm pretty sure after they announce another coach it will just be a part of the most elaborate smokescreen of all time. Hart deserves major props for such a massive undertaking.

I'm not interested in naysayers' opinions who just want to doom and gloom, but to all of you serious Vols: I challenge you to go and read Dave Hart's press coference when he fired Dooley. Specifically, read his responses to questions. Tell me who he is describing, and who he is speaking to when describing the coach he intends on hiring. It is absolutely not Strong, Fedora, Patterson, Fisher, Golden, Smart. If you seriously think a man with his job and legacy on the line would go 3 weeks before even speaking to a candidate, you do not need to be scoping football rumors, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about or how this process works. I'm in, more so than yesterday

Not slice but I'm still believing. Was in earlier saw the carnage and made the decision to back away for a few hours. Was catching heck at work but you should have seen their faces when I said it ain't over.

When they introduce someone who isn not Jon I will believe. Until then in Jon we trust....:salute:

He better be raising the 2 million needed to finish the deal. That is ALL that was required of him it seems.

I'm with ya Coasty. I don't have a grandbaby yet (hope I do soon), but I didn't get off the truck last night. This is just too mysterious.

This really sucks! I have been a lurker since Gruden I and have been here throughout the days and nights.. even though I didnt reply much.. It has been great hanging out here.. Learned a lot about a lot of folks.. and I would enjoy to see Jake's bar in Co when I go skiing.. Anyone remember the name of his establishment?

I would love for this to be true, but all indications point to this being false.

All rumors were either about money or control - never about interest... until today.

I'm having a couple of beers watching thethe bball Vols at Buffalo Wild Wings to recover from this thread. I've been straight up addicted to it for the last few days.
