I'm a simple man and I like simple answers. If Hart is the only holdup there is no holdup. If Gruden wants to coach here he will, assuming he has been reasonable on anything at all. So either the brakes were applied to provide time for some thing he needs or he doesn't want to coach here.

In my mind that's the whole uncomplicated story.

Pretty good assessment IMO

Either that...or the control was about Hart convincing Cheek to move money around....which has happened by all accounts, and is just one more reason that things smell fishy.

Control may have always simply = money. Usually does.

Not sure i follow exactly what your saying here.

Hubbs who is really careful as we know about what he says stated that he had heard that Gruden told Hart to come with a contract or not at all. Now, if Hart is as hard headed as some have reported then I could see a scenario where Hart told him that he was interviewing others and he was only interviewing Gruden. That would be enough to pi$$ Gruden off.

I agree. I'm just having fun talking about all of the possibilities. In reality the answer is typically much simpler. Either Gruden has a signed MOU to UT or he doesn't, at this point.

I'm not so foolish as to believe that he or his agent feels any obligation to protect UT...at this point.

I trust you Lex. I say there are things that we have heard recently that just don't make since. So I am in
this until someone else, other than Gruden, is at the
podium accepting the job....Thanks for being a voice
of reason!!!

:wavey: :wavey: :wavey: 4evervolfan How r u?

IMO a deal is done or like i said before this is the worst coaching search i have ever seen.

A high ranking AD member said that with ever negotiation that was made and conceded to our our part other demands arose. In his words gruden wasn't going to accept any deal. That's why they had to walk away.

I find this believable. It fits Gruden's MO way better than any other explanation.

No spin needed!

I don't think he truly wanted that control either because he never was going to take the job. I think it was all part of an egotistical plan to see how far he could get before having to say no.

Thats interesting, what does he have against UT?

Must be pretty bad to drag them through the mud nationally.

Jayson Swain ‏@JaysonSwain

Sumlin, Richt, Muschamp, Petrino, Miles, Meyer are all coaches who have won in the SEC WITHOUT SEC experience. Get a good coach period!

Jayson Swain ‏@JaysonSwain

Mark Richt is playing in his 5th SEC championship game in 12 yrs. Oh yeah I forgot, no SEC HC experience. That can't be right..

I know we are all trying to figure this out, but could it be something as simple as timing? Not sure, what the timing would hinge on. Maybe ESPN, check from Tampa, SEC championship game, or some sort of family matter. Maybe just one of the previous mentioned or a combination of all of them. I'm ok with watching this play out for the next couple of weeks. One thing yesterday did was quiet things down and took us out of the media as it relates to Gruden. To me that's not a bad thing.

First of all I feel strongly that gruden never wanted the job but only the attention but for the sake of answering your question I will assume he did.

If gruden wanted full control over his compliance department like was rumored there are many ADs that would have chosen to pass on JG. If he indeed wanted full control over compliance I am really thankful we have moved on.

You are saying that Gruden wanted full control over compliance which IS BASED ON A RUMOR per your own post!!!!

How much "control" do you think Saban has? His control was unprecedented and Hart was there to see it! I'd say that Bama has been well served by giving Nick Saban "full control"! Control is not the issue and never was!!!

And FYI every coach in the NCAA or prospective coach knows and fully understands that they must comply with NCAA rules on recruiting, academics, etc!!!

I'm embarrassed to say for a moment I bought into the he wants to come home nonsense. Recent days reminded me he's just a power hungry prick like all of em. A talented one, but one nonetheless. There is no love loss for UT for him. When Liper talked about the sheep letting the wolf lick but not bite I think he hit the nail on the head.

No one in the media has mentioned anything remotely close to this statement!!! And if it were true, that supposed information would have been leaked to Hyams or Hubbs or some other member of the Knox media!!!

If Gruden is going to happen, than this being out of the media is a great thing IMO.

That's it huh? Nothing to do with top notch facilities, passionate fan base, playing in the SEC, and great history? Paying good money is only part of the equation. My God, sure glad some of the guys in here aren't making the calls. We would just shut down the FB program and go home whining to mommy. Maybe I'm one of the few that still think we still have something to be proud of. We do need a home run hire here, I agree. I'm still naive enough to think we still have a shot at Gruden. Or dumb enough, not sure...lol

That is the only reason. We don't have a ton of talent in the tennessee. Our tradition is old news that nobody cares about. ask fulmer. Im holding out for gruden. If ut was a elite coaching job we wouldnt be in the position we in

You spoke to the high ranking ad member or was this reported by somebody?

I agree, where did you hear this?
