This too, the Lemonte deal soured me a fair amount with Gruden. Reminded me that sometimes you can fly too close to the sun. Gruden IMO is a USC kind of coach.

Kiffen has spent his career trying to emulate Gruden. With Kiffen the flaws are easy to see somehow because he's a lesser talent. Because Chuckie has a cool nickname, Superbowl ring and MNF the flaws are harder to remember.
Those things are impossible to ignore unless of course you choose to. I like to hear both sides of the story and make my decision but that is just me. :)

But you are citing hubbs that he wanted more control. Hubbs also said no negotiations took place. The stories dont add up for a clear cut answer that he didnt want the job.

I am not citing hubbs. Yesterday before all this brought I was told about a number of the things dealing with gruden and his unwillingness to accept anything we offered and I was told we offered an astonishing amount.

First of all I feel strongly that gruden never wanted the job but only the attention but for the sake of answering your question I will assume he did.

If gruden wanted full control over his compliance department like was rumored there are many ADs that would have chosen to pass on JG. If he indeed wanted full control over compliance I am really thankful we have moved on.

I don't think he wanted full control of compliance. Maybe he wanted the knowledge that he would receive more support than previously demonstrated by Cheek. I think a lot of the control talk is a red herring. Jon Gruden could win at UT with or without Chancellor's help.

Amen Gman!!!!

The word needs to be spread.

Let me ask the Hart supporters and Nega Gruden's a question.....

What Athletic Director in this country would not hire Gruden if they had the chance???

Ask yourself this, how many have ever succeeded of the DOZENS that have tried......

people want to believe in gruden so bad i think we all forget he may not want us

It is considered a good coaching job because we pay good money

That's it huh? Nothing to do with top notch facilities, passionate fan base, playing in the SEC, and great history? Paying good money is only part of the equation. My God, sure glad some of the guys in here aren't making the calls. We would just shut down the FB program and go home whining to mommy. Maybe I'm one of the few that still think we still have something to be proud of. We do need a home run hire here, I agree. I'm still naive enough to think we still have a shot at Gruden. Or dumb enough, not sure...lol

He can't breach confidential negotiations. BUT, he can at least say something to set the record straight.

Thats what im saying , he can let it out in a way that the fan base would know. The problem is at this point I'm not sure who believe anything out of hart's mouth.

So who said he wanted more control?

I don't think he truly wanted that control either because he never was going to take the job. I think it was all part of an egotistical plan to see how far he could get before having to say no.

I have thought that it is done for a while. Nothing has happened to make me change my mind. I'm not asking for blind trust. Just giving my honest opinion.

What has happened that has made up your mind that we will get him?

What "dozens" of programs are you referring to? Sources please.

I trust you Lex. I say there are things that we have heard recently that just don't make since. So I am in
this until someone else, other than Gruden, is at the
podium accepting the job....Thanks for being a voice
of reason!!!

I'm a simple man and I like simple answers. If Hart is the only holdup there is no holdup. If Gruden wants to coach here he will, assuming he has been reasonable on anything at all. So either the brakes were applied to provide time for some thing he needs or he doesn't want to coach here.

In my mind that's the whole uncomplicated story.

I would really like to believe that Hart is a pimp daddy that is just taking one for the team and buying Gruden more time for something....what I don't know.

Either that...or the control was about Hart convincing Cheek to move money around....which has happened by all accounts, and is just one more reason that things smell fishy.

Control may have always simply = money. Usually does.

So who said he wanted more control?

A high ranking AD member said that with every negotiation that was made and conceded to our our part other demands arose. In his words gruden wasn't going to accept any deal. That's why they had to walk away.
