Official Jon Gruden Thread 35

Hasn’t Gruden said UT is his dream job? If so, he has to be giving this serious thought because I would think this is his very last chance. We’ve gone through all of this before with him, this time even more, so it seems like if he ever wants to coach here, this is the moment. I wouldn’t think UT would ever go through this again. I don’t think people could take it. So this has to be his moment one way or another.

I don't know squat about either of these posters on TOS, but thought a bit of positivity around here may help:

I don't have Swain on to confirm, but he is being quoted as saying the UT plane stayed in Tampa overnight).

He just quoted every thing I read here yesterday nothing new

I’m really curious about the Blackburn element. So he steps down as AD from UTC last June? To “pursue other interests”...... what’s up with that? He comes forward basically endorsing an open door for Gruden on the Hill yesterday. He was Gruden’s bud when Gruden was GA under Majors. And Gruden seeks his advice re:NCAA compliance.

To me, this is HUGE and represents the conduit for the “back channel.” Help?

I'd like to believe VolinExile. I'm waiting for Currie to say it first.

I'm still expecting us to get some nobody. That's what my gut is telling me. Lol

Ditto.

It's like driving by a construction project without a sign, and you keep waiting on enough of the building to be up so you can tell what it's gonna be. You want a nice restaurant cause they neighborhood needs one. Then the day comes when you drive by and see the sign for the new auto parts store. :cray:

Funny thing about that post by UTLEGEND from TOS.

It said nothing about anyone saying Gruden wasn't interested, just that some that know him said they'd have to see it to believe it.

But, Patterson said he wasn't interested.

"See, Hubbs said Gruden ain't coming. All you guys in the know don't know anything. Let's concentrate on a realistic candidate like Patterson. Him saying he wasn't interested is just a smokescreen. Currie has been talking to him."

If we sliced up ever deliverable from the media personalities, they ALL contradict one another in some way at some point...whether it’s about Gruden, Patterson, Norvell, or whoever. Whennone guy says 1,2,3...the other says 2,4,5.

I’m sticking to Hargis and Blackburn.

cliff notes...

The guy involved in the pic of Currie on the airplane and the pic of him on the list of him to Chicago...confirmed he boarded a private plane in Chicago....and eventually ended up in tampa

more....they guy who took the pic....actually had a conversation with Currie and said he was a nervous wreck. Currie told him he only buys one way tickets to throw off the crazy tracker folks. That guy actually saw him purchase the Chicago ticket on his phone....hince the later pic of the TV screen

You need to get your massive bomb indicator recalibrated.

Officials at the US Geological Survey are reporting a dramatic increase in indicators for significant seismic activity. The vast majority of the indicators are located in the eastern Tennessee region around Knoxville. One scientist told us "Using our advanced mathematical extrapolation programs, we believe a major earthquake will occur along the banks of the Tennessee river in downtown Knoxville. We believe this earthquake will be so severe, it would register 10.2 to 10.4 on the Richter scale. I know there are many who will scoff at the possibility, but I've been vetted, check my stats!"

Another scientist we spoke to, Dr. Elmer Grumorsniffer, told us the impending earthquake will send shockwaves throughout the entire southeastern US and could be felt as far away as Columbus, OH and Ann Arbor, MI. Dr. Grumorsniffer also warned of severe psychological trauma as a result of the earthquake. "We've already been in contact with Emergency Management officials in Tuscaloosa, Athens and Gainesville to warn and prepare them. Citizens of those locations have demonstrated a severely depleted ability to cope with challenges of this magnitude and we want to get the word out early to aid in the preparation". When asked to describe the type of psychological fallout he expects to see, Dr. Grumorsniffer replied "Wailing and gnashing of teeth would not be an overstatement!".

When asked if he could provide any additional words of warning, Dr. Grumorsniffer told me, "Soon people, very very SOON"!

I’m new to all this but why would Hubbs have COMPLETELY different information regarding this than everyone else. Many insiders are on here saying done deal and that it’s so close but Hubbs posts that there have been no formal talks with Gruden yet.

Why is that?

You need to check the status of the insiders on Volnation. Some of the same ones saying it was a done deal in 2012 are saying the same thing now.

I would put more stock in Hubbs than anyone here. That's just me. Out of this whole ordeal, Jimmy Hyams has been the only person with accurate news.

He kept telling us Butch wouldn't be fired when our insiders said he would. Then, Hyams said next loss Butch is out. Sure enough, he lost Missouri and got fired.

Just don't turn into Fox Mulder with our conspiracy insiders. :)

Since this is the official Jon Gruden thread...I'm gonna put this here, then DUCK..!!!
I just don't see the reason for all the "Gruden worship".
I don't find the kind of Head coaching experience IN COLLEGE that justifies the over-the-top excitement some folks have about this guy.
There's no question, we're going to pay millions of dollars for a top coach, so perhaps we need to look at what we are hiring if it's Gruden.
NCAA head coach record: NONE
NCAA recruiting record: NONE
OK...Pro record...???
Looks like he has been the very fortunate successor to a couple of good teams already built by someone else. When he did build a good team, it looks a lot like he went out with his bosses checkbook and bought it by finding the best free agents available and paying them whatever it took to come on over.
That's not recruiting great kids all while operating within NCAA rules...that's hiring mercenaries in a league with VERY few restrictions (relative to NCAA recruiting rules).
Just my opinion, and worth what you paid for it.

So your saying Jon can coach at the highest level but not at the Vols? Really say it out loud and think about it. That's like saying Saban can't coach high school or Lebron James couldn't play in college. Now GTFO

I've gotten a little cold feet. Let me explain why without being told to "get out"

I think Jon Gruden would be an outstanding coach for the University of Tennessee. I'm absolutely 100% sure of that. The huge concern I have is whether or not his heart will be fully in coaching, initially or two years from now?

You see, for most of the coaches in college and pro football, all they can do his coach. All they want to do is coach. It's who they are, and that's all they can be. Whether they have arrived at their final destination, or they are climbing the ladder, they give everything to what they love to do, because it's all they can do and all they want to do.

So what if Coach Gruden doesn't find the success or Joy that he wants in coaching? Would he be honest about that and resign? Or would he 'phone it in' like Jones did this year and get the buyout and retire or go to the pros?

I think you have to admit that is a legitimate concern. If his heart is fully in it, he will be a great coach or Tennessee. If not… my concern is that we are forcing the issue instead of letting Coach GrUden walk down the path he wants at his own pace.

Same thing with Dan Mullen. Dude straight up denied Tennessee and said he was happy and comfy at Mississippi state. But he’s more realistic than Gruden who fiddled and fumbled words when asked about the job. Lolol.

People are crazy.

Gruden will always have an opportunity to work in tv.
Why can't he just save our beloved university and
give us 5-10 years. Now. "PLease God I implore you.
The Hindus spoke of karma. Give us break!"

You consider that massive? Idk...that's not even a tremor, imo

well it confirms the pic was true...and that the chicago flight was a diversion....and that Currie was a nervous trainwreck. Yeah...I realize its not a huge deal...just another piece to the puzzle. Just like all the plane tracking stuff
