So you and I are professional acquaintances in, say, the construction industry. We've never worked together on a job, but we know each other and have mutual respect. We've known each other a long time, like 20 years or so.
The past eight years, I've been kind of out of the field, caught up in a local radio program about home improvement. Spend most of my time doing that, though I still do home inspections for friends, that kind of stuff.
Now I've decided to return to the industry, and want to get together my own team of professionals. You and your gang are the framers I'd like to have.
It's unrealistic to think that I've been talking to you about this for the past two decades, right? I mean, you don't form a professional association like this years in advance, have it sitting on the shelf just in case, do you?
I don't think Gruden's been sitting around hosting MNF for 10 years while keeping an updated black book of his future coaching staff, much less staying in touch with the folks on that list to keep their interest dialed in.
That's just not human nature.
So sure he has to put a team together now. And has to contact folks to determine whether they're in.
Hope that helps.
