Sorry to hear about the strep.
My sister has had that many times.
She suggests gargling with a mixture of Jack Daniels, Windex, and some of your own (it must your own) urine.
Two days of this and your throat will be healed and you can go back to swallowing anything completely raw with no pain.
She swears by it and she works in the worlds oldest profession. So, her throat is very important professionally.

I can't tell if serious??? LOL

Agreed, but I do not think that many folks have been contacted, and maybe not even the ones referenced. Thus, I wonder what is smoke, what is BS info, and where is the truth. Probably some where in the middle lies the answer, but still a head scratcher to me...

I think alot of its BS. He wouldnt be apart of such a hush hush situation like we have been watching and at the same time be contacting a long list of coaches that could bust this thing wide open. All while theres a coach still filling the position.

Good luck today sfd and the other runners.
Go vols!

I think freak should sell volnation tshirts so we can all represent

My wife has a new Cameo machine and I’m gonna custom make some stuff specifically for runs I do in other states...after we get the Gru of course.

Ok, serious question here.

I have seen various names thrown around that "have been contacted" by Gruden's camp for OC position. Names like Tee, Jim Bob, K. Briles, and others? What does not make sense to me is the WHY? I do not see Gruden needing to reach out to multiple folks to garner interests. I suspect he has a short list and would be pretty confident of who would accept and be ready to "Seek and Destroy" (my music preference and a shout out to the night crew discussions) at Tennessee. A long laundry list of names appears more as an act of desperation, and that does not fit Gruden's cool and calculated M.O. Anyways, sorry for the long banter, but really scratching my head on this one and figured you all could help provide insight?

So you and I are professional acquaintances in, say, the construction industry. We've never worked together on a job, but we know each other and have mutual respect. We've known each other a long time, like 20 years or so.

The past eight years, I've been kind of out of the field, caught up in a local radio program about home improvement. Spend most of my time doing that, though I still do home inspections for friends, that kind of stuff.

Now I've decided to return to the industry, and want to get together my own team of professionals. You and your gang are the framers I'd like to have.

It's unrealistic to think that I've been talking to you about this for the past two decades, right? I mean, you don't form a professional association like this years in advance, have it sitting on the shelf just in case, do you?

I don't think Gruden's been sitting around hosting MNF for 10 years while keeping an updated black book of his future coaching staff, much less staying in touch with the folks on that list to keep their interest dialed in.

That's just not human nature.

So sure he has to put a team together now. And has to contact folks to determine whether they're in.

Hope that helps.

I don't think jbc would be asked I interpret it as false stories mainly except for a few. I do think he would want some staff with UT ties though.

Well Grude night
Just know the Gruth will come out
Soon
And Gruden will stand on Neyland Grass next season with a headset on spreadsheet in hand

It auto corrected me when posted

Really weird.

Good viewpoint. He does personally interview for MNF game prep plenty of coaches each week. At least in the NFL ranks he would know who he wants to talk to and have easy access. Doubt he needs to be flying around in Haslam's plane either.

Outside of knowing if this could actually happen, if it does, I don't think there's any down side. No he hasn't coached in awhile, but his cult of personality would bring in recruits, no doubt. He's got a lot of fire, like Johnny Majors, and has contacts to bring in top coordinators. No need to bring in QB coach, because he's a QB guru. What 5* QB wouldn't want to come play for him? You certainly win first in the trenches, but has also been proven, unless you're stacked like Bama or UGA (this year) on the lines, you need a top flight QB to make any noise in college.

I still don't think Butch is gone until the end of the season, because Gruden wants it that way. Only way I see Butch gone early is if he steps down on his own.

I concur. If all this is already in place, and I believe it certainly may be, I think CJG wants CBJ to be treated with as much respect and dignity as possible.

What's your sisters number

Lol. Could never give that out publicly since what she does isn’t exactly what you would technically call “legal”.
But, just ask any attorney or anyone in law enforcement in East Tennessee who runs the cleanest and most respected escort service in the area. She really does do a great job.
And, boy, the stories she tells during holiday get togethers. :eek:hmy:

Is there a discount for Volnation members?

Yep.

He wants to find his coaching staff primarily from the college ranks, though. Wants and needs proven recruiters. That, more than any Tennessee connection, is the mostly likely reason he reaches out to Tee, for instance; Tee's one of the best recruiters in the country, they say. And recruiting is such a big part of the college game.

And Jon never spent any time interviewing many of those fellows in his MNF job. He's been moving around primarily in NFL circles.

As for flying from place to place (in whoever's plane), that's kind of important when you're putting together a team who are going to work together, 14-hour days, for the next unknown number of years. You don''t just text or call or email them; you go look them in the eye, shake hands, sit down and have coffee or a meal together, prove that you're sincere about the offer and gauge them at the same time. Just how it's done: face to face.

I agree, but just don't think a long laundry list of coaches are being contacted now, there will be time for that when he is hired. IF it is all to be done in secrecy right now, he is not going to go full "shot-gun" approach to potential candidates. There will be plenty of time for that once he is announced. But, who knows maybe it is being done and those folks have been contacted...only time will tell.

Yeah, I'm with you wondering about that.

On the one hand, new coaching staffs sometimes seem to materialize in their new home awfully fast, and get immediately to work. Almost pit crew fast. In those instances, all the coordination would have to have been done before the announcement was made.

But is that important in our situation? Getting CJG's name out there certainly is, to hold a good recruiting class. But having the entire staff show up ready to work the day after the announcement? Not sure that's really such a big deal here.

Guess we'll see.

Checking in from the labor delivery room, where my wife’s contractions are increasing in frequency and intensity as the birth of our first son nears within hours. As I sit here anxiously waiting, one persistent thought consumes my mind: GRUDEN TO THE HILL!

Gotta go, the wife thinks I’m texting my sister with a baby update. Soon like Gruden!

Gruden baby update: We’re now 16 hours and counting. The epidural is in, the contractions are stronger, and hopefully my son gets here before Gruden. SOON ON BOTH!
