I don't think we will name a HC until after we know what the NCAA punishment will be! My belief is that was the reason for the Steele hire. I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay on as an Intern HC through this year, especially if it's fairly harsh penalty. As usual with TN, we are in a wait and see!

Seeing more and more people assuming Steele will finagle his way into being full time interim through 2021. A couple 247 guys tweeting that.

This makes some sense to me. By promoting Steele to interim (that's why he was probably brought in), you maintain a large number of your assistants, making it easier to retain your current players. If he brings in a few other strong assistants, he'll be given the chance to see what he can do. If he does well, he gets the permanent job. If not, well, he was just an interim. It could work.

Won't be Freeze due to NCAA issues. Won't be Campbell bc he's waiting for just the right spot. Won't be Malzahn with Steele on board. And Napier seems to be waiting for just the right spot.

Get ready to be disappointed IMO and be prepared for whoever it is to have 5 years.

So Tennessee has already put itself in a position to where if they don’t hire Kevin Steele, there will already be bad blood btw he and the university therefore creating potential for more culture problems. How Tennessee of Tennessee

If it's a terrible hire he'll be gone in three seasons.
