No QB Announcement

I guess you mean when Dormady was advised to go ahead with surgery if he wanted to have a chance to play this year? Yeah, that's exactly like voluntarily choosing to shut his season down and quit.
Total fabrication here. Nowhere was it reported that he wouldn't be able to play this year if he got his surgery 5 weeks later in December. No need to make s*** up just to support your crappy argument. For someone who likes to call anybody who makes fun of him a liar, you're sure playing fast and loose with the facts here.

Dormady injured his non throwing shoulder in camp and fought through the injury until he lost his spot. He had his surgery at the end of October. Do you really believe that waiting until the first week of December would mean he would miss an entire season? C'mon man.

Yeah. And that's just ridiculous. He hadn't made a decision to leave at that point. His choice was to have the surgery then and be available for the next year or to play through the injury as a back up and end his career then. Don't act like he made a traitorous decision because he didn't. You would have done the exact same things in his shoes.

False

No? He is a QB who had shoulder surgery. The more time you give that to heal the more likely you are to play the next season. But by all means post your proof that QD just made a voluntary choice to shut it down and abandon his team. Good grief. I don't always agree with you but you're usually reasonable.

It does seem like a more mature 2009 season almost like a mix of 2007 and 2009 it seems we have are swagger back.

Phil is wrong

Agreed. It seems the analyst on the outside are all saying KC. But, those close to the program are saying JG has been the #1 QB since spring practice and he’s far ahead of KC. I guess we will know for certain this time next week by the 4th Quarter.

Nice backpedal there lol so now you’ve gone from “he was told if he didn’t have have surgery then he couldn’t play in 2018” to “well More time to heal means you’re more likely to play.”

As for proof, the VQ guys and Brice were all on the record before he chose to have surgery saying Dormady had been dealing with the injury for a while and that he was already considering whether his future was at TN or not.

Quinten Dormady Reportedly Battling Shoulder Injury

^dated over a week before he got the surgery.

I appreciate that Dormady gutted it out as long as he did, but it seems pretty clear that the shoulder became an issue after he lost his starting spot and that he was basically checked out at that point.

Yep.

I'm pretty sure the outsiders, even the ones who normally do their homework, like Steele, are using this logic:

KC played for the #20 team in the land last year, a team that won nine games. He must therefore be significantly better than JG, who played for a team that went 4-8 (0-8 in conference, 1-8 against power 5 opponents). Therefore, KC will be named starter, because the new Vols coaching staff are no dummies.

Which is hugely weak on their part. But when said coaching staff is refusing to reveal anything to said reporters and analysts, they go with what they got.

Or something like that.

I don't understand the vitriol among our fans. Does it really matter who starts as long as we're kicking tail?

It might just take a game to determine who is best suited to run this offense in an actual game. How many times have we watched a QB suck while constantly hearing about how great he is in practice. (Johnathon Crompton, before the GA game of 09) Or watch a QB come off the bench and light it up after hearing how deficient he was in practice. (Josh Dobbs)

I believe Pruitt will go into the first game without publicly naming the QB starter. We are just over a week out and there’s a lot of benefit.

1) Keep JG and Keller Chryst both competing and happy. If they name a starter, the other could check out.

2) Our team probably has a good idea, so it’s best to keep it a mystery publicly for WV as they prepare.

Thoughts?
If you have a guy check out after not being named starter then he just validated the coach's decision.

Here’s what happens in Charlotte

Gitmo starts game
KC starts second half
The Sunshine Band mop up duty when we’re up 48-21 in 4th qtr.

As somebody said earlier, a graduate qb was not brought in to sit on the bench his entire time at
at Tennessee. That is looking ay the situation logically.

Keller Chryst won this job imo..I just feel like Chryst can give u much more production..Guys this is the SEC u just need a guy to manage the game and make smart reads and get the ball out..JG has a cannon for a arm but making good reads and getting the ball out is his only problem..Chryst 12-2 record is tough to ignore..No knock to JG..

Are you seriously using this? I mean lol

JG's completion % = 61.9%

KC's completion % = 54.2%

People have believe this myth that JG can't make smart throws, but his completion % was pretty damn good for a freshman playing behind an Oline with walk-ons "blocking" for him. I just don't understand for the life of me how our fans can judge JG off of last year. Then they think that a senior that got benched, and then outplayed by an underclassman is going to come in and be our savior. JG will win the job and look like a completely different player this year, watch and see!

Spot on. Throw in Stanford had better WRs, one of the best RBs in the country and a great coaching staff. Yet JG still out played Chryst.
