No QB Announcement

Funny how a lot of people keep pointing this out and the same people will praise dormady all the while willfully overlooking the fact that he quit when he lost the starting job and left the team when a new coach came in
Pruitt said that the guys who left the program had done it the right way. QD assessed his options and apparently decided it wasn't football. Barring injury, he's not starting for Houston. His chances of starting were much better at UT. But who is praising him? Did he sulk on the sideline? Guys leave programs every year for reasons that do or don't have anything to do with football. JG's pity party was definitely football related.

Hopefully he's grown past that.... but it is there until he proves it isn't. When he gets ready to be considered for the NFL... you can be sure it will be resurrected by any GM that considers him.

Let him prep for both QBs...or better yet only refer to how good Strout looks at each press conference until the game.

I disagree with the JG critique a little bc you made no mention of how long he held onto the ball when he did have time in the pocket. Even when he had protection, he couldn’t make a quick enough decision.

I agree with that. He needs to get rid of the ball, but we’ll see what happens with a better scheme (not Butch’s dumb screen pass offense) and with WRs actually getting open. The offense was in complete disarray and inconsistent, so it’s hard to base what happens this year. I believe he has talent. We’ll see if he can put it together from a mental standpoint.

JG's completion % = 61.9%

KC's completion % = 54.2%

People have believe this myth that JG can't make smart throws, but his completion % was pretty damn good for a freshman playing behind an Oline with walk-ons "blocking" for him. I just don't understand for the life of me how our fans can judge JG off of last year. Then they think that a senior that got benched, and then outplayed by an underclassman is going to come in and be our savior. JG will win the job and look like a completely different player this year, watch and see!

This is accurate.

The coaches know who is starting. That guy is likely getting more reps with the 1s. #2 is also getting reps with the 1s, in case he has to play, just not as many.
As long as the starter is doing a good job #2 will not play in the WV game. If the offense is not effective #2 will get a shot.
Both QBs will play in games 2 and 3.
My wild guess is the competition is close but JG starts. I feel he has the support of his team. If JG gets rattled KC could come in and steady the ship.

Nope qd didn’t sulk on the sidelines because when he lost the starting job he mysteriously had a shoulder injury that he was willing to play through as long as he was starting. Of course cjp is gonna say the kids that transferred did it the right way because that’s coach speak but everybody knows qd quit last year. Remember the rumors last year during the season about qd quitting? I guess they were true

There are numerous places you could watch an outdoor UT practice from if you want information. WVU wants information. They know and probably have known the likely starter at QB.

If they have not done this... they're stupid.
If it's that easy why don't anyone on here know?

Chryst isn’t a bowler or a tennis player. He’s not 12-2....Stanford, an excellent football team that won games with a physical run game (with Heisman trophy level running backs) and a great defense won those games. He played his role, oftentimes poorly or with great mediocrity, in those wins.

Edit: and I strongly disagree that all you need is a game manager at QB because you’re playing in the SEC. The fact that you’re playing in the SEC is all the more reason that you need a dynamic QB to make plays to win games.

See: Tagovailoa, Tua, National title game, Alabama vs Georgia.

Alabama came out explosive. because they was down in that game..Chryst played a major role in that record..

One looked pouty on the sidelines for one game where he didn’t get to play, but stuck out then full season even at it’s most toxic.

The other never publicly put on a bad face, but voluntarily chose to shut his season down and quit after he lost his starting spot.

The former looks worse because he was caught pouting on TV. The latter is worse in actuality because he gave up on his teammates and Tennessee halfway through the season because things got hard.

I guess you mean when Dormady was advised to go ahead with surgery if he wanted to have a chance to play this year? Yeah, that's exactly like voluntarily choosing to shut his season down and quit.

You really believe that bs? He didn’t choose to shut it down until he lost the starting job. The TEAM really could’ve used him when jg went down and they had to play McBride when he was nowhere ready to play sec football. Who knows if qd would’ve got the starting job back, but I do know he didn’t give them an option to find out. You can sugar coat it all you want to but qd is no better than Hurd in my opinion

I think I would tell them you'll both play in the game one series is not going to make or break the outcome of the game. The guy that does the best in his series plays every series until he goofs up then the other guy gets another chance. I don't really care for the two QB system but if the guys are that even let one of them win it on the field of play.

Yeah. And that's just ridiculous. He hadn't made a decision to leave at that point. His choice was to have the surgery then and be available for the next year or to play through the injury as a back up and end his career then. Don't act like he made a traitorous decision because he didn't. You would have done the exact same things in his shoes.

I’m not sure what a QB on Houston’s roster has to do with JG.

And you don’t know how hurt he was or when. And none of that helps us determine how much JG does or doesn’t suck.

I'm not sure what your comment has to do with the conversation. Some of these clowns are claiming that Dormady "voluntarily" shut down his season and "quit" because he made the decision to have surgery early to allow more time for healing before this season. These guys are trying to act like his choice (which several other UT players have made in the past few years) was a betrayal of the team. Their motivation? A vain attempt to rationalize what JG did in the GT game rather than just admitting it was bad and hoping he's grown past it.

His decision to go to Houston... is more a matter of quitting his college career than quitting a particular team. Barring injury, he's not going to start there. If he does get a shot, he's going to suffer by comparison to their very athletic starter. Guys transfer. His choice could have had something to do with being closer to home. It almost certainly had something to do with Jones being fired. But why not choose a place with an open QB competition like Chryst did?

I wasn’t directing it AT you. When did we get away from JG’s qualifications? As far as QD, I don’t think he transferred with no thought of playing. He knows that Tom Herman/Major Applewhite system and can run it in it’s pure form...which wasn’t what was being run here.
