No QB Announcement

Not so sure that the team even knows which QB will start, I have a feeling that both QB's will play next Saturday and Pruitt will let their performance dictate who plays going foreward

That's exactly what's going to happen Each may be played for each quarter or half. Giving them time to get into a groove so to speak. Then after that or end of the next game one will be the number 1 QB based on performance.

Keller Chryst won this job imo..I just feel like Chryst can give u much more production..Guys this is the SEC u just need a guy to manage the game and make smart reads and get the ball out..JG has a cannon for a arm but making good reads and getting the ball out is his only problem..Chryst 12-2 record is tough to ignore..No knock to JG..

Do your'e home work. Not doubting you but you are as as clueless as the rest of the media watching the same practices. There are so many sources spouting JG has the team, the coaches, and the play on the feild speaks volumes. Agenda? Really I care not but I want a proven QB that will win us games and from everything I've read KC aint it. Sorry, but your logic is lost on me. JG has developed into what they want and while KC might and I do mean it lightly might be the backup there's a young man waiting in the wings that might be better and we'll get to see in backup mode. JT isn't going to go lightly into the good night. KC isn't the savior of this team but if he is he has my support but everything coming from camp this competetition isn't even close.

So I guess you thought Justin Worley should’ve been starting over Tyler Bray also...

Don’t understand the hate for the kid, but you keep doing you.
It isn't hate. Did you watch a Tennessee team last fall while in another dimension? I hope he improved but man I saw nothing last year that would lead me to believe he brings anymore to the table this year, coaching or no coaching. He was supposed to be this great duel threat QB but the only duel threat he brings is against the Vols offense by not scoring TD's and having excessive sack yards. I hope I am 100% wrong about JG but I've been a fan long enough to know that pessimism is your friend.

The truth is there are big questions about both QBs. JG had no blocking last year, so really hard to evaluate (especially as a RS Freshman). He has a strong arm and mobility, but we don't know how he's progressed. It's really hard to look poised and produce at the QB position if you're running for your life every play. Most fans don't realize that. No protection = panic/erratic QB play.

At the same time, Chryst was a suitable starter for Stanford but he got beat out by more talent. He has experience with a good Stanford team that relies heavily on the run game, but he's never taken a snap for Tennessee. We'll see. Whoever the coaches roll out proved in practice they give us the best chance to win. It's a new year. The QB starter deserves a fresh start from fans...whoever it is.

I believe they still don't know. They are trying to find a reason to put one ahead of the other but neither has taken charge. They are both good but inconsistent according to practice reports. JMO.

I'm glad we cleared that up. Thanks OP. Can we stop arguing about the starting QB now?

JG's completion % = 61.9%

KC's completion % = 54.2%

People have believe this myth that JG can't make smart throws, but his completion % was pretty damn good for a freshman playing behind an Oline with walk-ons "blocking" for him. I just don't understand for the life of me how our fans can judge JG off of last year. Then they think that a senior that got benched, and then outplayed by an underclassman is going to come in and be our savior. JG will win the job and look like a completely different player this year, watch and see!
Again..no one is arguing that JG can do dink and dunk passes to pad his completion %. He cant throw TD's. He has zero scramble ability for a "Duel threat QB". He cannot lead scoring drives. Hell, Vandy's QB did more offensively in their game against Tennessee than JG did all year..

I think this is just Pruitt doing his best to give us an edge by keeping WVU guessing

Where is the edge? Really, not trying to be prickly here. I just don't see WVU changing anything in their prep for this game one way or the other.

Ok, I'm going to say this and leave it at that. JW had the tools to succeed, was he coached up, no. Look at his numbers in HS. It's so funny that fans that have never played outside of middle school or even high school ( giving credit where it shouldn't be given) have no clue to what it takes to play in college. I was blessed to play 4 yeras at CB at Livingston. University Of West Alabama now but I played against Troy State when they were in the conference Gulf Coast South Conference. College football is a different animal and any kid given a scholarship to play D 1 ball warrants your respect. It's so easy for you arm chairs that have never played a down of college ball to tear down a kid that realized his dream but to make yourself feel superior you have to tear him down. Sand in my vagina? No, offended no....... I know the time it takes in the film room, study halls to keep grades up, once again film study, weight training, nutrition, and last but not least making the grade in school. They're are so many factors that goes into a student athletes lives you can't comprehend. And for you to tear down even one of these marvelous athletes, is inconceivable. You should be ashamed of yourselves. These splendid young men are doing something you can only dream of. So get your TV ready, get you cold drinks ready, and then prepare to cut down kids that are playing for your university because you cant even carry their jock strap, Sorry but I'm sick of listening to fans tear down a kid playing for their University. SICK OF IT. Guess the ban is coming soon!

Gonna be funnier to see how others act IF Chryst starts.
I’ll be cheering for him and hoping he plays great, far better than he did at Stanford....and if he does I’ll be thrilled. Said it before, if JG can’t beat Chryst out given everything/all the factors at play here, he needs to move on and find another school.

How much did mommy and daddy pay for you to play at Livingston?

I've tried not to but have allowed myself to get a little excited by the positive reports on JG. If there's truth to the claims that he's grown and developed mentally and emotionally then he has the physical talent to be special.
same here.

I feel that they may scheme slightly differently if they expected to face Gurantano and his mobility. Maybe I'm wrong though

I think the coaches know who the starter is. If they haven't decided yet it may be because one of them is not "head and shoulders" above the others. That may be good or bad. Are they equally terrible, equally satisfactory, or are they equally exceptional. If they are equally exceptional that is a really good thing on the other hand......well lets not go there.

Yeah, I watched him play. Thought he was awful times, especially early on. Realized almost immediately that he wasn’t a dual threat quarterback, that he’s a prostyle QB who wants to play from the pocket to a fault. Saw that the recruiting services completely botched that, just like they 1000% mislabeled Josh Dobbs a top 10 prostyle QB.

I saw JG struggle, watched him take bad sack after bad sack.

But then....I also saw him improve, saw him play well vs LSU (before the monsoon completely blew in), Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Saw a strong, accurate arm, saw him get better getting the ball out as the season went along, as he got more playing time/experience.

I saw how physically tough the kid is (as Pruitt pointed out this Spring) after he took beating after beating last year behind an awful OL in a Mickey Mouse offensive scheme.

And I saw him stand up, alongside Trey Smith, in the presser after the Vandy loss and like a man and leader and challenge his teammates....when the so-called grown -ups/coaches wouldnt.

So no, I wasn’t in another dimension or whatever...I saw him play, saw the bad, saw the good, and came away thinking that he can be a good qb here with the right coaching/teaching/leadership.

So, you keep saying he sucks, that the season is lost, the season is over if he plays QB for us. It’s a messsge Board, so go ahead. I’d rather discuss it by telling you what I actually saw, rather than writing him off as a kid that just sucks.

I'm really not sure what you're saying or why you're saying it but you sound angry and perhaps misguided.
