New Name: PJ Fleck Being Vetted

I don’t know if anyone has posted this in the other 17 pages, but the origin of the Row the Boat has to do with the death of one of Fleck’s children. While Butch just had a phrase, Fleck’s has a much deeper meaning. Very high energy and enthusiasm. Could see him bringing similar energy to the way Bruce Pearl did. Go Vols!

P.J. Fleck's 'Row the Boat': UMN Gophers football coach explains
And we also said don’t make this about his kid. Other fan bases and recruiters are still gonna point and laugh. Might as well bring back brick by brick and champions of life. Instead of a trash can players can dunk footballs in canoes on the sidelines. Does that make you fell better?

Don’t make it about his kid? But that’s where it’s from? That’s what helped the dude cope?
That’s not gonna keep people from making fun of it is what I’m saying. And it’s not. Row your boat doesn’t have a good public ring to it. Do you agree?

Uhm idk I’m kinda indifferent honestly. I don’t mind it. Honestly I think winning cures all. Idc if he says stir the **** as long as we win games. I agree that a slogan for every situation could get annoying but him saying “ row the boat” once a month wouldn’t bother me

I believe this guy is a good fallback option. I think Campbell should be above him, but I'd put him above Elliott because of HC experience. Basically, if he'd been OC at Clemson, I'd say they'd have similar success as they had with Elliott.

He can put it all over his house for he and his family and wish them well, but the last thing I want associated with GBO is row your boat. And whether we like it or not he’s not gonna win in the beginning so the joke will never end.

I’m guessing if he came to Tennessee and won, the other stuff would fade a little.
The slogan stuff has worked for him. He found something that would get him noticed and players to buy in to his program.

I guess after a few losing seasons we can take Anchor Down from Vandy?

Too soon?

He won 11 games at Minnesota. Who gives a shat about his sayings?

First off, I said that I had not read through the other 17 pages. Admitted that from the start. Was just posting the article. I’m no naive enough to think that in an industry centered about negativity from other schools, recruiting, would not make fun of the phrase and avoid the meaning. Just posting something for others to know the background in case it hasn’t been shared. Fleck would do well here in my opinion. As if we don’t get made fun of enough now for McDonald’s back and our losing the last 15 years. Have a great day and appreciate the tremendous reply from you.

And at this point I don’t care. It won’t be the first time we’ve had somebody made into a meme. If he motivates players well and got our players to buy in then isn’t our ultimate goal? I mean it sure wouldn’t hurt right?

We told on ourselves about the McDonald’s bags. Thats how stupid we are. We should have just fired Pruitt and moved on.

Row your boat has been shared, you can check that off your bucket list. Next slogan up Anchor Down.

Was sharing an article. Not saying we need a slogan Coach or anything else. But I agree, the McDonald’s thing to ourselves, so Tennessee. Think Fleck could do a good job. Been in tough jobs. Players play hard for him. Brings energy and personality. Top of my list...NOPE. You are exactly right about firing Pruitt and moving on. Pruitt was lucky to play bad teams at the end of the 2019 year. Georgia State and BYU were the signs. Hope we get a good one. Would like my kids to see us win some games like I grew up watching.

Fleck would be at the top of my list. Rebuilt two programs. Great motivator. Had his team Western Michigan in the Cotton Bowl. I was surprised when he went to Minnesota but he has won there. Great young coach.

The Big 10 West is basically the MAC right now.

He could be an anomaly imo. It’s not too much sensationalism to say had three plays gone differently in 2019, he’s closer to the hotseat than being considered a worthy competitor to the SEC.

What’s our record since 2013 ? Have we beat Alabama 3 times in that span. No . I think a lot of fans would have took that record the last 8 years. Went 6-5 in a pandemic year with all SEC games.

I agree with you. I just honestly feel we have dug ourselves in a hole with the Slogans wether it has a deep meaning or not. I know you understand. If he does get hired I just hope at the presser he says “Thanks for the job, I’ve got a lot of work to do” and drops the mic. He is gonna have enough of an uphill battle without making them for himself.

It may not be him anyway so who knows.

Say it louder: Western Michigan. In the Cotton Bowl. Western Michigan. In his 4th season.

And we know that Minnesota was meant to be a stepping stone job—needed to make sure his success at WMU would translate to a bigger conference. And it did. Trended in the right direction for first two seasons and then went 11-2 with a bowl win over Auburn.

Not sure how people can dog this guy and in the same breath claim Billy Napier or Matt Campbell are the end-all-be-all can’t miss coaches.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.. This is his record and everyone is saying no to PJ Fleck? Killing me! GM is no better than Butch Jones. Hell GM lost to JP on his home field with JG at QB! Explain to me why Auburn fired him and we would want him? Again look at his record. Take out 2013 and he is a 7-8 win coach.

2020 Auburn Head Coach 6-5
2019 Auburn Head Coach 9-4
2018 Auburn Head Coach 8-5
2017 Auburn Head Coach 10-4
2016 Auburn Head Coach 8-5
2015 Auburn Head Coach 7-6
2014 Auburn Head Coach 8-5
2013 Auburn Head Coach 12-2
3 wins against Saban during his time at Auburn. How many other coaches can say that? And when was the last time we beat Bama. He also has a national championship appearance. Coaching in the SEC East would be much easier than coaching in the SEC West. The West is only going to be tougher the next several years.

PJ Fleck is too good a choice for Tennessee, probably won't happen. It will be harder to get a real good coach now. This story is leaked to likely to put a squeeze on Minnesota to cough up some more buyout $... Unlikely a successful power 5 coach comes here with such black clouds on the horizon.
