NCAA Open Jobs Thread

Just a matter of time imo before Navy coach is named HC at BYU

You don’t typically see coaches talk openly about specific jobs, especially before the season ends, but BYU is a unique situation for Ken Niumatalolo.

The Navy head coach will travel to BYU early next week and meet with officials. The news first came out via Niumatalolo’s agent speaking to the Capital Gazette. Niumatalolo is Mormon, and his son is a linebacker on the team.

On College Gameday before Saturday's game against Army, the coach talked more about the job.

“Several schools contact my agent. Quite frankly, I wasn’t that interested in them,” he said. “I love the Naval academy. I love what it stands for. But when this one opened up, it’s different. It’s just different for me. My faith is everything to me. This is the only reason. I just feel like I need to listen to what they have to offer, and that’s it.

Looks like BYU has their head coach

I didn't know Georgia Southern fired their head coach. Another very questionable firing.

.
Missouri: Gabe DeArmond (PowerMizzou) is reporting that Josh Heupel will be the new offensive coordinator. We can confirm the pending hire. Heupel spent this past season at Utah State as offensive coordinator and spent eight years prior to that as an assistant at Oklahoma, the last four as co-offensive coordinator / play caller.

also Ken staying at Navy

Kentucky: WKYT out of Kentucky is reporting that offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson will not return next season. Dawson has confirmed the news.

and that's a wrap on the HC carousel..I'll start a new thread so we can give feedback on good/bad hires

Georgia Southern: Per source, Colorado State defensive coordinator Tyson Summers will be the new head coach at Georgia Southern

I don't think the carousel is completely over yet. There could be as many as 12 NFL head coaching jobs available January 4th.

Ball state head coach resigning to be assistant at Maryland

seems strange on surface..but this could lead to bigger jobs and I read he has family there...Durkin now has 3 ex head coaches as assistants

Tom Dienhart ‏@BTNTomDienhart
@CoachDurkin is assembling a nice staff for @umterps with three ex-head coaches in Pete Lembo, Scott Shafer and Mike London on board.

Larry Coker out at UTSA and Dennis Franchione gone at Texas State.

Major Applewhite in the running for the Texas State job.

Major should bide his time with Herman and potentially be in line for UH job in a year. Coed pool at UH has gotta be better.

Looks like Miami, Syracuse and maybe Va Tech (maybe) are the big winners here.

Souther Miss is now looking for a coach.

That's not a terrible job..you can get some decent Texas and Louisiana recruits

Southern Miss: The school says it anticipates hiring a new head coach by next weekend, but also says it will be a “true national search” with candidates with different priorities.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Southern Miss head coach Todd Monken has joined the Bucs as offensive coordinator / wide receivers coach, as first reported by the Tampa Bay Times.

Coaching changes I think will happen during and after the 2019 football season

Clay Helton fired at USC
Chris Ash fired at Rutgers
Gus Malzahn bought out at Auburn for going 6-6
Kilani Sitaki fired at BYU for going 5-7
Brent Brennan fired at San Jose State

Sean Elliot fired at Georgia State
Dana Dimel fired at UTEP
Bob Davie fired at New Mexico
Bobby Wilder fired at Old Dominion
Tony Sanchez fired at UNLV
Steve Campbell fired at South Alabama
Mike Bobo fired at Colorado State
Frank Wilson fired at Texas-San Antonio
Brian Bohannon leaves Kennesaw State for a bigger head coaching job
