My predictions for 2019

Last year was the big red flag.

Imagine: Win 3 point loss game to USC. Go to bowl game. More exposure. More bowl practices
Possible win & 7 -6 record. Then build on that in 2019

Those last 2 games last year with a bowl game on the line were big red flags for sure.

6-6 is the ceiling. Anything above that is pure luck with this offense.

6-6 is the ceiling? Nah, you're off 3 games. IMO, the ceiling is 9-3 with the floor being 6-6. It's entirely possible to go 3-1 before the first open date (Ga. State, BYU, UTC and Florida). We play 6 games before the second open date (at Ga., Miss.St., at the Gumps, SC, UAB, and at Ky). 4-2 is certainly doable. We finish the season with Missouri and Vandy. Both games are winnable. That's the ceiling.......9-3.

I am hoping at least 6-6,when I try to predict wins for our Vols I'm always wrong so I'll say hope. Anything more than 6 is icing on the cake.

Every year, every game, whatever the odds, I cheer the Vols towards victory (Yes, that includes Florida, Georgia, and Alabama). That's what a fan does. You shake off the disappointment of any loss, and you cheer on the Vols versus their next opponent. College football is hope eternal. Until you truly internalize that, you're not a fan, your just a mewling fanling. Grow up. Life's disappointments don't hurt less, you just know how to handle 'em better.

It is possible (however remotely) that these Vols could gel and have a game of their careers against a measurably better opponent who are having a bad day. Search your feelings. You know this to be true. There is always a glimmer of hope for victory, even against the likes of Georgia and Alabama.

Bottom line, the games will be played. The outcomes will be known. Until then, indulge in analyses, what-if scenarios, chew over the bits and pieces of news, but nurture the kernel of hope at the core of your fandom. Think of it as your own training for the forthcoming season.

9-3 from 5-7/4-8? You are assuming TN has talent and it was just all coaching. Pro tip: It wasn't just coaching...

Yes, just because of the crumbling about OL and and JG yet to be a SEC ready,
Over 95 percent of us expecting 6-6 and some sort of bowl. This could be a very
Disappointing season. Your 5-7 seems reasonable. We need more positive vibes
From the coaches.

GA State -W
BYU -W
Chat -W
UF - L (I'll never again pick us to beat Fl until we start beating them ... battered Vol syndrome)
UGA - L
MS State - W
Alabama - L
USCjr. - swing game
UAB - W
KY - W
Missouri - swing game
Vanderbilt-W

So for me, that put us at 7-3, and surely we can split the two swing games (sc & mizzu) for 8-4.
Yes I believe in the depths of my heart this is realistic.
No blue font.

IF we don't make a bowl again this year, I give up all hope that we'll ever be competitive again in my lifetime.

Never picking us to beat UF again until you see it doesn’t require BVS, just a handful of functioning brain cells.

Missouri and Vandy are “winnable” this year? We lost to them last year by a combined 88-30. In other words, average score vs those two was 44-15. Ok, if you say so.

I am hoping they are getting/have gotten better..and unless its been amazeballs coaching 6 wins still is tops in my opinion.
Six should be the floor barring something extraordinary.

Chaney is pretty good out of making something out of whatever he has. That should be worth some points and wins.

Frankly, the OL should improve just by getting guys into the normal range for size and strength. Last year, they weren't.

If JG doesn't improve his decision making and Pruitt/Chaney don't replace him... then Pruitt probably isn't the right guy to lead the program. I anticipate he will improve. How much IMO is the difference between 6 wins and perhaps up to 9.

Different team playing different teams.

Do you expect JG to stink it up against Vandy again this year? I hope he's either stroking along by then or else has been replaced.

This is the best post I have seen in a long time. Thank you, sir! 🥇

Tennessee defense...48th in the country. Tennessee offense...124th in the country.

Do the math.

2018 NCAA College Football Stats - ESPN
Lmfao did you just use total yards stat? You do realize we only played 12 games and were 122nd in tempo last year, right? Either being deceitful or are downright ignorant of what stats matter. Using total yards is like...from the 1920's. Yikes.

One word about offense - worst rushing in the SEC. You have to grasp that Guarantano is not the rushing offense.

Offense is 38th S&P+
94th FEI
Both agree lack of success rate, rank higher in explosive plays. Fact is we ranked middle of the country in passing. Near the bottom in rushing.

Defense by efficiency ratings, tempo and opponent adjusted -
82nd (FEI)
72nd (S&P+)
