My predictions for 2019

Yes, play the "realism" card. Feel superior to the "old fart." Your perspective is "more valid."

I'll keep on living life tempered with humor and hope. Maybe, one of these days, you'll grasp why I do so. If that ever happens, offer me a Belle Meade Bourbon.

If we run into each other at a game, I would be honored to lift a glass of your favorite with you. I wasn't trying to invoke some kind of superiority. I was only trying to point out why many people on here might feel the way they do. In the end, we are all Vol fans, win or lose.

It's not my 'perspective' so much as it's history at this point. Grasping at our 10-win streak against Florida in the first half of the 20th century, as somehow relevant to the last 50, 25, or 10 years of play is just folly.

To be honest, I hope I'm never at a point in my life where I give up on facts and data in order to lull myself into sense of false optimism via the willing suspension of disbelief.

Been pretty spot on the last 5 years so thought I give it a go again. Will get a lot of hate for picks.

Realistic projection I would bet on

GA State -W. We win by 50 and volnation exclaims we are back

BYU -L. Close low scoring game could go either way. Volnation servers explode

Chat -W.
UF - L
UGA - L
MS State - L
Alabama - L
USCjr. - L
UAB - W
KY - W
Missouri - L
Vanderbilt-W

5 and 7 missing bowl again. Obv rooting for 6-6 and a bowl

Picks as a UT fan
I think UT wins the USuCk game honestly. Bentley is so inconsistent and UT is rising and USuCk is not. Same with Mizzou, Bryant wasn't great at Clemson but much of the team around him was so I still think they just had a HUGE downgrade going from Lock to Bryant. I'll go with Vols winning 7 this year.

IMHO, I think that UT goes 8-4 this year with losses to FL, UGA, AL, and Missouri. My hope is that we are competitive in those losses and that we give those teams fits on both sides of the ball. I don't think that we have the horses to run with FL, UGA, or Bama from a talent standpoint, and I think that Missouri has depth and an experienced team that beats us because they make less mistakes and are able to come away with points, even if several of those points are field goals. Obviously the loss to Mizzu is the one that we have the best chance at winning from the losses that I picked and I think that one will be close. The others just have better players and more depth that we cannot hang with especially with our rebuilt D-line and a weak O-line.

There is the possibility that we see 6-6 if we lose a close one to USCjr or BYU. I think that 8-4 is our ceiling and 6-6 is our floor. We should go bowling this year, but the tier of that game will be based on whether or not we play as a team and how well the new coaching staff calls the games.

You miss the point of my post entirely. You miss the point of my retort entirely. You have a nice day, now, ya hear?

Last year was not a big red flag. That's insane, Pruitt left with a bare cuppoard and beat two ranked teams. Yes they quit the last two games of the season which is still mind boggling but definitely not a big red flag. We go 4-8 this year and that'll be a big red flag

Pruitt has shown he is able to coach extremely talented players who have a desire to win. What he hasn’t shown is an ability to coach up mediocre players who don’t have that same desire. Last year players quit with 2 games to go because they didn’t want to spend their Christmas break practicing and going to a lower tier bowl game. The fact that many of those players are still on the team is a huge red flag.

They quit the last two games of the season because Butch loaded this team with guys that don’t want to work hard and don’t mind losing (they’ve grown quite accustomed to it). This team will make steady progress as Butch’s guys leave and are replaced with real SEC-level talent.

When a player quits on the team they need to be off the team. Pull their scholarship and let them earn it back by busting their butts during spring and summer ball. See if they are here to make UT better or for the free room and board.

I think the USC and KY games may flip results this year, pending our receiving relevant info on each team much closer to the season. On Missouri, not sure yet.

I’m not stupid enough to ever be cocky about a Tennessee game, but it’s worth mentioning that BYU lost to NIU last year in a thriller that resulted in a final score of 7-6
I seriously doubt that. I’ve seen some of your posts. You are plenty stupid. I think you are too scared of criticism to state the facts about football.

It’s a game of inches and split seconds that is judged by those that wear glasses or need to, played by young men that at times it’s obvious that they have something else on their mind than football.

I don’t even consider expecting a win over BYU as cocky. For me to expect a win over the gumps has nothing to do with my cockiness. It a reflection of what I expect out of those stupid gumps.

Like it or not, even after all these years of poor play, it still means a lot to many to get that win against us. That why get the best from the teams we play.

Nobody’s overlooking us. They all still have a thirst to beat us. The fans can say what they want but that thirst is real. We are a “Circle” game to all 12 on our schedule.

For Vol fans it’s not about Fl, Ga or the gumps, it’s about how our team plays. When we play ball like we can the wins will be plenty.

Here’s what I got

GSU: W (49-0) Chaney flexes all over a lesser team and Pruitt does Pruitt things, JG tosses for 3 TDs, defense scores once, and the backups run it up

BYU: W (30-7) we struggle early and only lead 9-7 at halftime but go on a 21-0 run to finish. Passing game shines again.

Chattanooga: W (45-0) basically the same thing as GSU

Florida: L (24-20) Florida scores a late TD and JG throws a pick on the final 2 minute drive. Probably some referee ********.. the usual Florida game

Georgia: L (26-19) we go into the half tied at 10 but eventually the defense runs outta gas and gives up a late TD and a few FGs. Fromm throws a pick six to Gibbs and the lone offensive TD is to the Tight End

Mississippi State: W (21-16) both defenses shine. Chandler runs a long TD in the 4th to put us ahead, Alontae strips the ball from Kylin Hill on a long run, recovers a fumble and seals up a big W.

Alabama: L (34-13) all 13 of Tennessee’s points are scored in the 4th. Maurer comes in late, throws for 1 TD and runs for another.

South Carolina: W (42-13) Bentley turns the ball over 5 times, defense scores twice, JG throws for 3 TDs and the freshman put on another late. Carolinas lone TD is a punt return

Vs UAB: W (38-7)
We don’t score as many points as the other 2 small schools but the game never goes into question

Kentucky: W (41-3)
Defense holds UK to less than 150 yards of offense and Chandler runs for 150+ and 3 TDs

Missouri: W (35-24)
We get caught in a shootout the first half, then pull away, sack Bryant 4 times in the 2nd half and JG throws 2
TDs

Vanderbilt: W (59-0)
Yes, this is legit. We finally click on all cylinders and decimate this team. 31 of those points are scored in the 4th

Bowl game
Outback vs Michigan: W (31-14)
Michigan comes in unmotivated and we take advantage and whoop that ass

Final: 10-3

So what exactly is he to do then and how is this a red flag?? What you're implying is our football players don't want to play football and that's not a red flag. That's butchys products on the field and that's why his ass got canned. Hopefully Pruitt can get those guys motivated enough and some of his elite recruits can make up for it and I expect it.

Seriously?

Did I hurt your feelings one day or something?
If you are seriously asking if I’m serious then I don’t know what to say.

You said yourself you were stupid just not stupid enough to be cocky about the Vols wining games. Need I go on?

You probably have hurt my feelings before. I’m I suppose to be able to remember every time my feelings have been hurt?

I don't know .. I am certainly not a Vols fan but the schedule looks pretty good for them this year. KY lost the heart and soul of their offense and defense plus some other key pieces.

Kentucky will have a more typical Kentucky winning season in 2019. I think Kentucky goes 7-5 going 3-5 in the SEC.

With this coaching staff, they better get a bowl game with 6 wins.....7 would be awesome. If 6/7 wins doesn't happen, seems to me there's a problem. But hey, what do I know? Reading tea leaves like everyone else. I have to say, "I hope to heck you're wrong with this prediction!"

In the SEC, I can see them winning against USuCk, yUKy, Mizzou and turning things around against Vandy .. ready for this? I think they beat the gatuhs this year. I know, sounds crazy to some but people are underestimating how much talent that team lost on defense, how many pieces are being replaced on the OL and overestimating Franks and overestimating how bad Grantham defenses get after his first year.

Grantham is getting a lot of credit (along with Mullen for some reason) for Miss St having three defenders picked in the first round when they were studs before he got there and after he left. He is a terrible recruiter and once his scheme is fully implemented, you see a lot of kids run on to the field late and others out there quite often with their hands in the air in the universal sign of "where am I supposed to be?", usually on key plays like big third downs, hence the phrase "Third and Grantham." And they preach to UGA fans about his greatness as if we haven't seen the movie before.

Lastly, I still like Georgia to win the East but UT is the my pick to finish second there ..
