Report: Could Jeremy Pruitt be fired at UGA today?
Here is some of the context from the fallout, isnt something new, much ado about nothing in my opinion. Everyone already knows his rep is he doesnt get along with others, that isnt newsbreaking. BUT, he wasnt the guy, he was the subordinate. Most people who become boss change their view and their attitude. I think just something to get clicks imo. Nothing that happened at Ga is going to matter what he does at Tn, Id say Pruitt has changed, if he hasnt, we all will be witnesses...
Ok still tired of the hearing the NO TALENT in Knoxville.....Same song, different day......Guess I better turn off the TV..... Hang tough VolNation!!!!!
So you think the talent @ Tennessee as as good as Bama, UGa, UFL, LSU, and TA&M? Compare OLines, Dlines, LBs and CBs. Name me any of those five teams which do not have better talent @ those positions. Plus, anyone who knows anything about football at any level kows that you do not win football games if your Olines and Dlines are not superior to your competition. After 2-3 years of Pruitt's recruiting, I expect our talent will be more compartmental to the current leaders in the SEC.
Pollack also has an unwillingness or inability to differentiate between types of rebuilding jobs, which McElroy was trying to educate him on. He insinuated that Tennessee should more or less be a big time program again by year 2 (probably because that's what Georgia did last year), and if not then Pruitt isn't the guy.
This is not a Kirby at Georgia, Urban at Ohio St, or Saban at Alabama rebuilding job. This rebuilding job is more similar to what Dabo inherited at Clemson, except we are worse than Clemson was when Dabo took over.
If there are not obvious strides ahead by year 2 and especially year 3, then Pruitt probably isn't the guy. But for Pollack to suggest that Tennessee should be "back" after only 1 rebuilding year is an ignorant statement, or a statement he is making out of emotion.
I also thought it was interesting that McElroy said he thought Murray's comments about Pruitt were likely personal, and I agree. I'm assuming Murray is a huge fan of Richt, heard the stuff about Pruitt (they weren't there at the same time), and he made an emotional statement about Pruitt's abilities based on those feelings.
Pollack and Murray are trying to help UGA. They are trying to use media days as a platform to push that narrative.
Agreed... Finebaum, and Marcus Spears both made similar if not verbatim remarks earlier in the day. As UT fans we can either take offense to remarks made out of pettiness by the georgia alums or you can take the high road and ignore it as noise.
2nd and 26. Only 1 thing to do. DONT GET BEAT DEEP. That's choking.
The Hail Mary game against UT was 3 mins of atrocious coaching (both sides). Noone was in front of JJ. Throwing out of endzone when you couldnt guard Barnett. The 2 penalties last 10 secs.
Against Vandy, you didnt give ball to Chubb or Michel on 4th and inches. Masons first SEC road win.
Losing 13 pt 4th quarter lead to a GT team that cant pass.
There's losses and then theres those 4. Butch choked away way too many as well.
UGA was just flat bad in 2016 and since they werent expected to win I dont really see it as choking. Imo choking is when youre favored to win and let the atmosphere or situation make you lose your composure. I doubt anyone would disagree with the fact that UGA, for once, exceeded expectations in 2017. Either way, its all subjective and if what they did constitutes choking to you, then in your mind they choked. Im just ready to talk about current football instead of past football. The season cant get here fast enough.
To say Georgia choked last year because they lost the title game in OT is just silly. That isn't a choke.
Georgia isn't so much a choker as they are an underachiever. They badly underachieved in seasons like 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, and 2015. The 2012 South Carolina game stands out as a situation where they inexplicably got destroyed. It's why Richt is no longer there.
Murray comes into one of the important recruiting areas for Pruitt and throws him under the bus. It's clear what Murray and Pollack's agenda is - hurt Vols recruiting and help UGA. This negative recruiting nonsense is not new. This will only ensure that Pruitt targets the top recruits in Georgia. It's sad that these media hacks feel they have the right to further their own agenda.
