I think you must get a certain caliber of player. To say one specific player is a must get for a class is an over-reach, IMO.If you want to compete for championships and compete for them sooner rather than later certain caliber players absolutely are. People need to realize that 10-2 is the standard now and that going forward conference and national championships are the next step. To do that our roster needs to look like Georgia’s and to get our roster to look like Georgia’s we need to land those players. Or at least other guys their caliber
Caliber, yes. Specific player, no. Agree to disagree. I just get tired of the narrative that this specific player is a must get or our class will fail. If we miss on all of our targets, then, yes, the class will fail. If we miss on one, even the one we have highest rated at a given position, does not mean the class is a failure.Disagree with the notion that nobody is must get. There are a certain caliber of players that we must get to get to where we want to be. Ask Georgia and Bama. Now individually outside of probably QB, probably not necessarily a "must get" but we "must get" those caliber of players at high-impact positions like QB, OT, WR, DL, EDGE, CB
I grew up with Dennis Rogan from Knox Fulton and he end up being one of the best players in that class as well easily one of the best Rbs to come through the state ever and was a solid player In UTs secondary along with being a good return guy… I believe he was only a 3 starUsing the draft as an objective measure of 5* players who were worthy of the label, I think it is very fair to say that UT's 5* players over the year have succeeded well below the 60% average.
The 2007 class was the one supposed to make things right again. There were an amazing five 5* players headlining that class. Eric Berry was one who excelled. The other four were Chris Donald, Kenny O'Neal, Ben Martin, and Brent Vinson.
The 4* weren't much better. They included Darius Sawtelle, Lennon Creer, Ahmad Paige, BJ Coleman... among other disappointments. That "great" #3 recruiting class was a huge part of Fulmer's fall and UT's malaise post-Fulmer.

Not sure where the disagreement is in that lol. We're saying the same thingCaliber, yes. Specific player, no. Agree to disagree. Fulton Falcon. . True that. Tennessee still beat both of them and went to sweet 16 just like they did.I’m only replying to this because I saw someone else did, and never saw it. The basketball team is not as talented as everyone loves to think it is. The combo of Vescovi and Key was the most unathletic duo of guards in the tourney. Neither can create their shot. We were the only team I saw that could not drive and kick, it was pitiful. Every single guy on FAU could. Where are they at in the rankings? Obviously the loss of Zakai was huge, but we absolutely do not have Bama or Arky talent. Not close. I don’t care what the rankings say
