I really like Dobbs and are very happy we have him. Without him this season, I think we would likely have 1 win. A couple of things:
1. The comparison to Mariota is unjust and unfair.
2. His accuracy needs to improve. Although I wonder how good his accuracy would be with a good OL, a healthy WR corps and less drops.
3. I see some have questioned arm strength. While he is not a very strong armed QB, it needs to be said that neither was Peyton Manning. Now I realize Dobbs is not in Peyton's league in almost every passing aspect. But when it comes to pure arm strength, Dobbs probably has the stronger arm.
4. My brother and I have discussed somethng about Dobbs and I wonder if it is relevant. We all know Dobbs's class schedule is brutal and I wonder if that works against him in developing his QB skills. Think about it. How many hours does he have to spend in the books to make those excellent grades? I would be willing to bet, he spends a lot of time studying. I wonder what kinds of classes guys like Mariota, Tebow, Winston, Brady, Manning, Elway and Montana took in college? Now, what if he were majoring in communications or another easier major that didnt require much study time? And he had much more time to hone his QB skills and study the game? I am not saying this IS the case, but its interesting.
5. Its possible that Dobbs could go the NFL, but there is also a good chance he decides to be an engineer. All I know is, I am glad he suits up as the Vols QB every Saturday and I really look forward to his senior year!
