Those are things u learn while getting game exp which is why Maurer should have been starting all along.As I stated in another thread he prob doesn’t throw those if he has 3-4 games under his belt.Kids played 5 quarters of football maybe so what u get what u get good with the bad.

dw Florida has a 6'4" 240 lb fullback that can throw, backup qb

If he's cleared to play, then play. The experience is needed. A true evaluation of his abilities is still in progress. Let him play, if he's cleared.

I agree, but there are different ways to get game experience. I agree he should start too, but I think it would be wise to have some sets ready for JG as well. It's too much weight for a true freshman to carry, especially one who has been hurt in both his last two outings.

Unless he's playing lights out, there is no reason not to sprinkle JG in for a few series and let Maurer watch.

Yeah, its much better to bitch and moan about losing players to injury in a futile effort to look respectable and then not having the horses to beat USC, Vandy, Kentucky, and Missouri.

Let's face it, with Bama's depth, athleticism and explosiveness UT's chances are slim and none unless Tua is injured. I don't think any rational fan would dispute that. But we have to put our best team on the field regardless, and if Maurer is healthy which it appears he is, then you start him and see where the game goes from there.

Agree he should not play, but moreso because of the concussion and I can only guess super sore neck this morning.
Good thing he is young because I am pretty sure if I did what he did I would be in the hospital for a while.

Yeah, it's better to just tell your team they're a bunch of punks with no chance of winning and handicap any chance they have. Great message. What kind of players would willingly acquiesce to this nonsense?
"But don't worry guys; next week everyone will play and we'll try to win".

Let's also hold our starting receivers, RBs and LBs. Hell, just hold out the entire starting lineup and send the 2nd stringers out for sacrifice.

I'll never understand this mindset. That's a terrible message to send to your team. Play who is ready and deserves to play and give them your best shot. Highly unlikely but maybe they have a bad day and we have a great one.

Agree...and running the ball was picking up some chunks on that last series...MSST was having trouble stopping the run...and don't forget about the 41 yard pass JG threw that set up the FG in the third quarter. I need to compare the total passing yards between the two as well...

IF PM played we would get beat. I want to make sure Maurer is 100% healthy. 99% is not enough after a probable concussion/neck injury. Let him heal another week. You are most susceptible to a concussion right after having one.

You've also got Shrout who can go. Plenty of options to protect Maurer for the SC game. Then again our OL is improving and more confident, and Bama's secondary is far from perfect. Perhaps we we should instead go out and give it the old "college try"...

For the same reason you punt it on 4th and short. Because you’re calculating an end goal- percentage of getting wins.

You can start your best player against a juggernaut you have no chance of beating just to make a statement about “finishing” and “competing” but the truth is you put yourself at a disadvantage risking players for no reason.

Phone in Bama. Save your best shot for getting to a bowl.

Or you can Butch Jones it and run it 4x in a row up the middle with an overmatched O-Line.
