Maurer Hit & Possible Concussion?

^^^. nice try, NC. -not assuming that they wouldn’t - just haven’t heard that they did.

What is not up for debate: He was OUT cold. Starting QB takes a huge hit and passes out on the sidelines. If it’s no big deal, you talk about it and move on. Nobody’s talking.

There are at least five problems with the insistence that Maurer was unconscious and had a concussion. (I’ve read of this insistence in a couple of threads.)
  1. There is NO medical report of a concussion.
  2. The sideline video can be viewed as BM laying himself down on his back (not fainting).
  3. He moves his left arm on his own when he is said to be out.
  4. When someone is unconscious, picking them up doesn’t alone return their consciousness.
  5. He was in and out of the sideline examination tent quickly.
Bottom line. BM was hurt...to the point that he needed to lay down to recover. I hope he is able to practice this week and play Saturday.

I really didn't see a "concussion" type blow, but I did see a hit hard enough to warrant a good internal look-x-ray type deal, and blood test to determine if anything is bleeding inside etc. I am by no means a CP supporter, but I refuse to believe Pruitt would do anything, that would cover-up/harm one of his players, or for that matter, any human-he does not strike me an evil person-just not a great coach.

It’s been mentioned in other threads, but I don’t see one dedicated to it. If we really care for our players, we should be making a little noise about this. Does anyone have any real credible evidence that he did not pass out cold?

I’ve seen the video - it’s all over twitter. Put the kid in Concussion Protocol. He’s our guy, and will be this year. It is easy to see how much life he brings to the program AND to see that he would be the last guy to put himself in the protocol. That’s why it is designed to be objective - to protect the player. One game in this heinous season is not worth the risk to his career and life-after-football.

dude he got the breath knocked out of him lol had nothing to do with a concussion.

Ever had the wind knocked out of you? It sucks.

This is incorrect. The receiver didn’t fall at all. The ball was thrown poorly.
I was sitting on that sideline and the receiver did not make it to where he was suppose to be. He was tangled up with the DB.

They need to take that right tackle and blindfold him in practice and let someone hit him like that. There's no excuse in that situation not to pickup the guy on the outside of the tackle when there is no one else there to pick him up. As an OL you can block people other than DL. Then they need to do Chaney the same way so he will quit getting out of max protection and stop getting his QBs killed.

He was hit directly in the chest by a very hard but clean. I think he had the breathe knocked out of him. He collapsed but got back up in seconds. Some player did not even see the blitz coming and didn’t even wave st him as passed by him

I think they put him in Ribs and Spleen Protocol instead!

... very curious what the cause was if it wasn't one.
A good shot to the solar plexus and you have a real hard time breathing...
Been there before. Recuperated after several long seconds of sucking wind and a minute or two later found myself blacking out because I wasn't really breathing like I should. Taking very shallow breaths and not getting enough O2. Had to think real hard to breath deep and ignore the pain and spasms. I stayed light headed for a while, It really sucked.

Tangled up is not falling. I just watched the replay in YouTube. He didn’t fall. The corner fell.

In the replays it didn't look like his head hit the turf, but his head rocked pretty violently forward when he was hit. You can get a concussion from that. I took a cheap hit to the ear hole in high school and don't remember anything about it (concussion). I only say it in films later.

Concussions are caused when the brain is jarred against the cranium. That can happen in a number of ways.
