Congratulations on beating Miami in Miami 17 years ago.

^^^. nice try, NC. -not assuming that they wouldn’t - just haven’t heard that they did.

What is not up for debate: He was OUT cold. Starting QB takes a huge hit and passes out on the sidelines. If it’s no big deal, you talk about it and move on. Nobody’s talking.

No worries....I hate artificial turf too. But the common vernacular refers to either, especially on a football field, as turf.

Not trying to be difficult...just defending my use of the word.

Sorry, I meant no offence. I know, we all are running with our stingers out just a little bit. I will say I enjoy your posts they seem to always reflect a good bit of thought and respect to others. Again, no offence intended.

Staff gave him some decent material to work with in 1st half, but the better team clearly made adjustments etc.
BM is super raw:
1. Telegraphs throws
2. Does not look off safety
3. Very limited in his ability to go through progressions.
First time start vs one of the best D's in the country... I'd say he has given the coaches some decent material to work with. Not sure why you are so anxious to write Maurer off.

He is a decent athlete, who could become service-able in the future iF (an only if) he plays for a very good program. Since TN is not a very good program right BM is not a long term answer. Instead, he is the immediate stop-gap answer until HB arrives on campus.
Ah, so here's the answer. You are vested in HB. I hope HB is a great QB. But just judging from his highlights and considering the star power around him... he's not a "sure bet". His arm strength doesn't look any better than Maurer's.... and we've never seen him play against a college D.

Again, I hope he's the "savior" of the program you seem to think he is... but at this point I'm just as hopeful that Maurer IS the long term answer.... which is to say I hope one of them is and have written neither off.

I’m not sure being “out cold” is the criteria for a concussion. FTR, I’ve not read every post in the thread, but it seems that that’s the argument being made.

That’s complete BS. In other words he plays like a freshman...... HB will do the same thing. In fact he does it now in Hs. BM on the other hand had a game last year in Hs where 4 receivers had over 100 yards. And nearly did it twice last season. That doesn’t happen with a qb that stares down his receivers as a part of his natural game. That fact alone just debunked everything you thought you knew.
He could be referring to the RPO's. Generally speaking I think the QB stares in the direction of the receiver for keys to read.

Given that, do you play him vs Bama at all? Or do you just send JG out to take the beating?

That's a damn good question. On the one hand you want him to get all the reps possible to get experience. On the other hand, you don't want him to get hurt because of potential that he may help win games on the back end of the schedule.

So long as he's able to go, I'd say play him, but if the game got out of hand real fast, I'd pull him. Then that would be a bad look cause then it'd be seen as sending out JG just to get a beating.

Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't situation.

Obviously, I believe he was concussed. - "diagnosed" using my online fizician skills. I'm open to it not being a concussion. - and remain very, very curious what the cause was if it wasn't one.

I don't believe BM should have taken that hit. I have watched the video, of that play, a few times. Austin Pope made zero effort to block the UGA cornerback. Shouldn't Pope have the responsibility to recognize the blitz and pick it up? Surely the coaches will not allow that going forward. Pope ended up open, but our QB was going to take a vicious shot regardless of whether he got a pass off or not. I'd much rather see our QB protected than to see an open TE 5 yards downfield.
\

I do not know or claim to know UT's blocking/pass protection scheme. Seems like one or all of these things should have happened.
1. Pre-snap, Pope should have identified the unblocked man to BM. It is glaringly obvious that if Pope is releasing then there is an ublocked man. Unless, he thought the RB was going to take him, in which case someone screwed up because the back got another edge rusher from the other side.
2. Pope should have at least slowed stokes down to give BM time to hit the hot route. All it would have taken is a second or two.
3. Pope should have shortened his route to about 2yds, turned around to give BM an "Hot" or outlet to get rid of the ball.

Uga fan caption reads “Erik Stokes killed a man tonight”

Klassy

Someone should reply, BM never saw it coming, and was defenseless.
JJ destroyed a ga defender that was crouched, looking at him, ready to make a tackle.
COMPLETELY RAN OVER HIS ASS AND A FEW OF HIS TEAMMATES!!
JJ was a MAN amongst boyz!!!

I am a fan of Harrison Bailey and think he can be a great college QB, but the talent he has at WR is nuts better than the competition. That is my concern, those guys are so much bigger and stronger than the other teams DB's that they get instant separation.

Vfan917, you assume much and seem to need to pick a word-fight with me. ok. you win. I'm an idiot. there.

I've not insinuated Pruitt is hiding anything. No one is talking about the fact that he was out cold. It's not been addressed. Saying that he is "fine" is not addressing what the video clearly shows. Someone said that he was in pain and was trying to get to the ground. He is not wincing in pain. His mouth is slack, his brow is 100% relaxed, and his head is dead-weight. If you are in enough pain to make you go to the ground, do you have the face of an angel with your mouth dropped open? There is no muscle contraction in his face whatsoever. He's out. - and yes, you can be out for a very short time and come to fairly quickly. He was most likely coming back as they were jerking him back up to his feet.

1) I'm not trying to pick a bone with you guys, but i have questions that aren't answered with a "he's fine".
2) I'm not accusing or insinuating that any individual is or isn't doing anything.
3) I am trying to raise the discussion about why in the world he was out cold.
4) If that doesn't satisfy you, then default to this one: I'm an blithering idiot who loves to just stir the pot for no reason. I live for that on the interwebs. - and in my spare time I like to play with dolls and drool.
It’s been mentioned in other threads, but I don’t see one dedicated to it. If we really care for our players, we should be making a little noise about this. Does anyone have any real credible evidence that he did not pass out cold?

I’ve seen the video - it’s all over twitter. Put the kid in Concussion Protocol. He’s our guy, and will be this year. It is easy to see how much life he brings to the program AND to see that he would be the last guy to put himself in the protocol. That’s why it is designed to be objective - to protect the player. One game in this heinous season is not worth the risk to his career and life-after-football.

-thoughts!?
You are insinuating.... You're saying Pruitt isn't putting a kid in concussion protocol, you're asking why aren't we making noise about this? Insinuating that Pruitt is hiding it and we need to bring it to light. You're also insinuating that the kids hasn't gone through concussion protocol. How do you know?

You didn't ask questions, you assumed this kid had a concussion, you assumed Pruitt knew about it and he hadn't been put in concussion protocol and you did all of this to create a false narrative to create fake rage.

Anyone that has played any kind of organized ball and has been hit, knows the that feeling.

Not to mention every radio show in town is reporting he just got the wind knocked out of him. Even Basilio who most of you claim operates in conspiracy theory is saying he got the wind knocked out of him.

I've had 3 concussions. I did my passing out right away.

After consciousness I did my puking

A good shot to the solar plexus and you have a real hard time breathing. A shot to the nose, solar plexus, or kidney are three quick ways to slow an opponent down or drop them outright in a fight. I believe its taught in the Marines. I could be wrong. My combat training in the USAF was how to properly run and hide.

I have been knocked out in a game once. It was immediate, but no puking... just couldn’t remember the play from the huddle to the line. It was before we knew what we know now. - don’t think I even left the game at all.

Body Shots, aka shots to the SP, are a central theme in USMC Martial Arts as well as my time in Tae Kwon Do.

They're extremely effective and are often left completely open by novice opponents. If you get hit hard there, you feel like you're going to die.

Problem is it’s not a FACT because you bother to position it as such. There’s NOTHING to confirm your opinion and scant details to support it. When you’re conducting “angelic face” analysis, you missed the exit a few miles back.
