Matt Cambell Interviewed (RUMOR)

Apparently Matt Campbell isn't ready for the big stage and is to much of a gamble but paying an ESPN analyst who has been out of coaching for nearly a decade 8 figures a year to save our program is totally fine. Lol

It's Gruden or bust for what seems to be most of Volnation. Going to be a lot of unhappy that will blame the AD for not making it happen. In reality Gruden would have to be a fool to leave his current job for the pay and workload a college HC deals with.

And has lost 4 games to other teams - so he won two big ones has lost loses to teams he should have been able to beat.

I am amazed that some still hang their hat to the "flavor of the day" when almost none of them pans out.

I was beginning to fear the worst and then I found this thread.

Glad I was wrong.

Did you see Campbell’s record from last year, his first at Iowa st?

I’d take brohm over Campbell any day, just wish we had better candidates to choose from because we deserve someone with more, long term P5 success than these 2 options.

I wouldn't have to step too far out to say that Purdue is easier to recruit for than Iowa State.

That's exactly what I want to hear when we hire our next coach.

News flash- We aren't hiring bob stoops. And even then people would complain about him losing big games.

The same toads drooling over Franklin now would have had the same reaction to hiring h as they now take on Campbell. Anyone who knows anything about college football can't deny the job he's done at Iowa State.

I wonder how many of the people on this forum would've said "no" to Urban while he was at Utah...

Costs $9 million to play at Coach Campbell's poker table. Given past practices, I highly doubt we're going there.

Brohm's agent? Maybe. Purdue is subpar in terms of talent and the last several years demonstrate the point.

The season Brohm is having playing Big 10 football with MAC-level talent reminds me of the one Kiffin had here in 2009 when the talent level could barely be called SEC-worthy.

Some good coaching going on there. How well he develops off of a good start, however, remains to be seen. I remember Wade Houston doing something similar in hoops for us in 1989. The things he was able to accomplish with Ian Lockhart (Rarely-played by Devoe) were amazing. But he was never able to build on the positives from that first season.

The fact you think kiffon didn't have much talent on a Eric Berry led def shows you don't know much. Brohm won't work at tenn

Excellent candidate. I just don't see how we get past the buyout issue.

However, the rumor is almost certainly false as Iowa State still has a game to play against Kansas State. Coaches with current jobs don't interview before the regular season is over. I guarantee Campbell is currently focused on making the best bowl game he can.

Not an “issue”. Less than one season of Gruden’s reported salary (not including assistants). More prevailing concerns are is he just a hot name or does he have stamina?

Campbell could be a good choice for Tennessee.

He is from Massillion, Ohio. Big football town.

Eric Berry was a great player. He was one great player on a team suffering major deficiencies in talent and depth, especially on the lines of scrimmage.

Outside of Eric Berry, how many of those starters on the 2009 squad could start for the 1998 Vols?

Think about it and realize that Kiffin did well to get that team into a bowl. And Brohm has done even better getting this Purdue team approaching a .500 record.
