Massacre at Virginia Tech

Illegal guns are like drugs if you want some they can be attained. Real, I would say ex military could convert a ar-15 to full auto pretty easy.
I don't even enjoy firing my M-4 on burst. I like the accurancy, control, and consistency of firing on SEMI. I would imagine that most ex-military would be more proficient firing SEMI than full auto (why waste 3 rounds on one person?)

Apparently, this guy had two 9mm's and was strapped with magazines. Easily enough firepower for the situation he faced.

The report I heard last night was that he had one 9mm and a .22. Still obviously enough...

I just read that also.

Also read an account that in the room that he ended up locking himself inside, he had the students line up against the wall and just went down the line.

Who in their right minds just walks over to that wall to die?!?! Did they believe he was going to have a change of heart or that God was going to intervene before he shot them? If you know you are probably going to be shot and killed, be a little proactive and make that b*st*rd fire on you while you are running at him to kill him first!

I have been having a hard time wrapping my head around this, as well.

I look forward to the day when I will read the following headline:
Man with no permit or license to carry firearm, puts a quick end to killer's spree.

You'll likely never see that headline. When a school shooting happened at the Appalachian School of Law in 2002 the shooter was apprehended by 2 guys, one which retreieved his firearm from his car. News people like to conveninetly leave those facts out.

If this is true, just utterly amazing. People have actually lost the ability to think.

Not everyone is capable of logical and rational thought when instantly faced with a life or death experience. You're on your way to class more concerned with an exam when some guy comes in to the sound of gunfire. Let's see. Since all is happening in a matter of seconds, let me see if I can process everything and figure out the "correct" thing to do....

Survival should be instinctual. Looks like we are breeding that out of people. Though I do so your point to a degree.

Have you ever heard of competitive shooting?
How about gun collecting?
How about just having a hobby?

Yeah. Like I said, I believe that if a law was enacted to ban one kind of gun, all guns would eventually be banned. That is not right.

I for one will probably never own a pistol.
I do not collect guns, I want a rifle that will kill a deer or wild hog from 200 yards, a muzzeloader that will kill a deer from 75 - 100 yards and a shotgun that will kill ducks and turkeys.
I'm horrible with a hand gun, therefore competitive shooting is out the window for me.
If shooting pistols is a hobby, you must be bored.

These are the reasons that pistols are not my cup of tea. Not because I believe they should be banned from the public. It doesn't matter what the law is, because law abiding citizens would be the only ones effected.

Amazing that even in the military (trained for combat) you will see this sort of behavior. Survival is instinctual. Perhaps in their mind their odds looked more favorable to comply versus confronting a guy with a gun pointing at them ready to shoot. It's nice to sit here in our cozy chairs in front of our computers to call people wussies when they were the ones facing the situation and we weren't. I guess the entire building and campus is full of weak minded people. Anyone want to credit Darwin for this?

Or you can sit in your comfy chair and never raise the issue of people taking aggressive actions in one of these incidents and you will continue to get the same results everytime some nutcase decides to have his day. By the way, not sure who called anyone a "wussy".

So talking about it will somehow get people to change in spur of the moment occurrences? Everyone pull up a chair. Let's talk about being more aggressive in situations. As for "wussy" it is implied in the tone. You get these results regardless. Again, dealing with gangs and insurgencies in their respective situations...do you thin those fighting those two events never raise the issue of taking aggressive actions?

Thanks for determinining what is implied by the tone, you are special. So not talking about, your method, is best?

Someone would have to be desperate to try and hunt with a handgun.

Hunting w/ a handgun is more common than you think, just depends on the game. It is completely legal to use them in TN for anything but migratory birds, provided they meet the regs of size/caliber.

Did I say YOUR tone? You can tell who I am talking about? YOU are special. Did I even say what my method was? Again, you read my mind. Amazing.

Uh oh...legal purchase. Now I'm waiting for the immigration crowd to speak up and say we need to shut the door.

I heard the guy was a Chinese national here on a student visa. I thought it was illegal to sell a gun to someone who was not an American citizen.

ABC is reporting he was South Korean. Also in Virginia, legal resident aliens can purchase firearms with all the proper papers.
