Lots went wrong but #2 is QB1 [JG discussion, merged]

Drew Lock had the same problem and he's playing on Sundays. I'll take accuracy on those 20-30 yd. lasers over the tosses in the flat any day. I'll bet they work on those throws in the flat and get that corrected. It's not as easy as some think because you have to deliver the ball without floating it so the back has time to look upfield and make the first tackler miss.
I'm not complaining, it's just weird. He's back to being accurate again. It's great. So happy for him. Isn't he 3rd in the country in QB rating?

This is where Volnation makes me want to pull my hair out. He throws for over 400 yards on a top 10 defense in the nation, and people say he had "too many" bad plays. Just smh.

He has played better, but don’t kid yourself he is the same JG we have known all along. I like the kid, think he is a a fighter and tough as nails but he is not the second coming of Peyton Manning. Before you say anything, I don’t think Maurer is either. With better QB play this season, we would have at least a couple more wins maybe even 3 or 4.

He earned this tonight. I’ve been one of his greatest critics, but I am very proud of how he’s salvaged his season. Tonight was a big step forward. Not perfect, but in total, a great win and record setting performance with three 100 yard receivers.

I saw a little in the real time game thread where things are fluid.

Where else?

Yea.....I’m saying “bench him” and “why is he starting” and such was not justified.....based on what he had done for Tennessee over the past many weeks.

And proved to be not valid.

He's proven himself on the field and his character is is to be highly commended as well. Tonight, I was able to have a great father/son talk with my 11 year old about never quitting and being of strong character during hard challenges using JG as an example. He plays basketball for MCS (Maryville Christian School) and just got his first basket last night after three games coming off the bench. I relayed the whole JG story and I could tell that it encouraged him. Florida and Alabama at home next year. I hope JG stays here and proves to everyone that he is elite as anyone. With his accuracy and decision making being what it was tonight and another year under Chaney, he could be in the running next year for big time awards.

He didn't play well at all to start the season. If you think he's playing the same now as he was then, I don't know what else to say.

Unbelievable!!!!

Glad for him. He deserves every bit of praise and credit he gets.

Glad for the team that's getting to experience wins from that play.

I think he is playing 100% better than he was playing. He is playing great compared to him in the earlier part of the season, but when I compare him to other QBs in the SEC great isn’t a word I would use.

Name the quarterbacks better than him then, since you're comparing.

Just because we live and breathe Tennessee doesn’t mean we shouldn’t look at things objectively.
I tend to look at a glass half full rather than half empty. However, IF I was treated as bad as JG in the beginning of the year , I would have been gone. The guy has guts and heart. Hope he is back next year,,,,,
