Looking more and more like DeBord will be the new OC

Some of you think it's a great hire bc of what he did 20 yrs ago. What makes it a good hire and why does nobody have him on a staff? I mean its basically like hiring fulmer back. A guy who had success in the 90s and has OL experience. I don't see how this guy fits schematically. There are better options for this offense. But I'm sure some ppls fandom make them act like this is a great hire. Butch is doing his buddy a solid and loyalty can get you killed.

FTR he hasn't been "hired". FWIW...IGWT...BYOB. :wavey:

Lol chill out buddy. Why are you so worried about who Saban would hire anyway? If you're gonna go that route Urban Meyer is the better coach so id be more interested in who he would hire. But still, don't really care about anyone but Tennessee, and thats how it should be. You think Bama is worried about who we hire? lol handle your own business and we will be fine.

Seeing as how Saban can answer questions about all of our coaches and players, yea he pays attention to what happens on Rocky Top.

Head Coach hire is much different that an Asst Coach Hire.

This is CBJs call and he has proven he is worthy of making it, by what he has done to date with the program.

Sorry you have to bring up the Dooley thing, a lot of insecure posters on this board seem to do so when they have nothing worthwhile to contribute.

Hamilton or Hart Hire. Sorry you don't get it and that there was a change in the AD department. Some of you need to quit living in the stone age and move on.

Still not sure that they hire DeBord at the OC position. He maybe hired in another capacity on staff.

As we've seen on more than one ocassion , making the wrong assistant coach hire, specifically coordinator, could prove to be fatal for the HC. But I'm sure you'll respond with some "bUTch please" or "butch gets it" bull, trying to convince that its a process and we need 4 more years before we're competing again, because Deborg is a " new brick" and we need ample time for the mortar to settle.

You really need to know why? There maybe a 100 reasons why he didn't.

Why do you care and why should we. Don't answer that because you can't. Not a Michigan fan.

If you are concerned about the Michigan staffing maybe you would be better off on there board and it would help you focus more on what they are doing.

Harbaugh was a great hire lots of money spent doing so, hope they get the results they want. Desperate hire but great timing and a good coach.

Why so hostile? I asked an honest question, and like I said I hope it works. I just thought it seemed logical if someone who is a good OC is right under your nose, they would have hired him or some other school from the past two years would have hired him. :hi:

I mean yeah of course he knows who they are, he's the head coach at Alabama and has been around, he knows almost everyone. But to say he thinks about who we would hire when making a decision is laughable.

Does it really matter who he hires? I get it that in some situations it may, but since CBJ was an offensive coordinator (and a good one at that) I'm pretty sure most of what any OC will do is call plays that are already in the playbook.

Yeah, Butch was OC for Debord.

That is correct. Michigan lost 34-32 when a last second 37 yard possible game winning fg was blocked. Michigan racked up 479 yards, 23 1st downs, and 32 points, and lost. So, Debord should have kept the field goal from being blocked, and the upset wouldn't have happened. It was all his fault.

Whoa, no need to get the jimmies russled.
I'm sure some won't like the fact he was there at that time, but the loss was not because of the offense.

Dude every team has coaching turnover. It is obvious that Coach Jones knows something about good assistants. Many have joked about his best staff in the country comment, well it may not be that but it's pretty evident other folks like our staff. And history also says coaches like that tend to be able to re-supply themselves with good coaches. If you don't like where Butch has taken the program in a short time you are bling. We are and will continue to recruit lights out, and we are building it with good players and individuals. Let this play itself out before you speculate doom. We are rising to the top!! GO BIG ORANGE!!!!

Pros:
Ran a very good Michigan offense in the late 90s.
Has experience as a recruiting coordinator (hopefully means he can functionally recruit).
Has some NFL experience, however brief.

Cons:
Has been out of coaching for a while, not to be an AD or some other high level position, but to basically oversee non revenue generating sports. This is the biggest question mark to me. If he's good at what he does, why not a coaching gig somewhere?
Is more of a pro-style or I form OC. He's not a spread guy. Do we change our offense for him or does he change for us? Either way, someone or someone's will be learning a new offense in what is a crucial 2015.
He doesn't appear to have any QB coaching experience. That leaves us with none on staff, unless room is made for one. Does Mahoney get sent packing to make room? I just don't see that happening given Jones loyalty to staff.

The move doesn't seem like a good fit to me. It smells more of hiring a buddy rather than trying to find the best person for the job.

I could care less who he hires, the hire is not my problem it is his hire and he will be held accountable for it I am sure.

All this speculation that Debord is hired as OC is senseless
All this speculation as to how he will do is also.

Bottom line: I do trust CBJ to do what he feels is best for the program in his hires. He has earned it and I respect his decision. After all, he is the coach.

"Butch Please" no not that type of fan, sounds desperate like a kid begging for a cookie or a teenager begging for a piece of pie.

Butch Gets It, That lasted about as long as the first slogan, I guess he does get it for some, to me the Jury is still out and it is TBD. Based on what I have seen the first two years no reason to believe he doesn't get it.

Can you answer the question I asked you about being hostile?
