This is gonna be where all the folks that think Butch can do no wrong have a coming to Jesus party... DeBord in town Friday.... This will be fun to watch how Butch/Hart try and figure out a way to spin this as a positive, while all the other schools in the SEC are spending money and getting upgrades in the staff while we hire some cheap old has-been who has not been relevant in years... yeah, the kids are gonna freakin line up to come and play for this guy! Bet Saban is mad we got him first since he will have to replace Kiff to the 49ers.... and that was probably his first choice... Butch is "humbled" by the interest, but not able to hire any of them because Hart won't spend any money... If we hire this joker, P Williams will flip to Auburn by Monday evening.... book it.... this is gonna be another sad time for UT football- Total Sunsurei-type pickup....We will be the laughing stock of the SEC, so easy to be made fun of....

As much as I have ripped Sanders in other threads yesterday, I'd support bring him back over DeBord.

This would be a complete chickens--- , cronyism at its finest hire.

I have to agree. It would be the equivalent of some good ole boy getting his buddy hired on at the local factory he works at.

If Debord is hired I can't help but think CBJ has missed a big chance to take the offense to a higher level. Go get one of TCU's OC, they absolutely slaughtered teams this year.Not that there is anything wrong with Debord just not an upgrade. IMO

You've got to look at the bigger picture. Think of how this hire would benefit the swim team with his vast experience.

Funny you bring up Sunsurei, most on this site felt he was going to be a superstar. I don't know who will be hired, but will give it some time before I gripe about it. Sure no going to till someone is hired.

Fans will have no one to blame when we start losing recruits and next years class tanks but Butch and Hart.... Butch should have proven enough to get Hart to get the man he wants and now we are seeing the chink in Butch's armor.... this pathetic hire will shed a negative light on Butch that may cost him his job in a year or so... sad.

Well, I'm working third shift and need to go to bed. I fully expect to wake up to the news that this guy is the new OC and look forward to Butch telling us all just how fortunate we are to have him here.

Butch recruited them and he can, if he chooses, lose them any way he wants. He will take the responsibility for all that is done under his tenure.

You are correct. If Jones hires DeBord then he is not the coach we thought he was. Jones is a great recruiter and great salesman but can he make major coaching decisions when he has staff turnover ? He has never had anyone but Jake at OC and this looks like a PANIC move. The rest of the SEC will be rolling in the floor laughing at this hire.

The way that the offense looked against Iowa, with 15 more practices, makes me think that one wouldn't want to make wholesale changes. We could have easily scored 60. Give the guys that we have more reps, and bring somebody in to run what we've been running. Makes sense to me.

If Butch hires this guy and he doesn't work out, it could set UT back two or three more years!

Butch needs to hire a proven OC like Smith or Gran. No one could fault him if either of those guys flopped.

Been out of coaching for 2 years, and last real success was at Michigan....Still can't see how he will appeal to recruits no matter what he did 18 years ago. Please so no to drugs....and Debord
