Looking more and more like DeBord will be the new OC

You are correct. If Jones hires DeBord then he is not the coach we thought he was. Jones is a great recruiter and great salesman but can he make major coaching decisions when he has staff turnover ? He has never had anyone but Jake at OC and this looks like a PANIC move. The rest of the SEC will be rolling in the floor laughing at this hire.

Good grief man

If Butch hires this guy and he doesn't work out, it could set UT back two or three more years!

Butch needs to hire a proven OC like Smith or Gran. No one could fault him if either of those guys flopped.

52-11 at michigan as OC. Man's not a trainee. It want set UT back 2 or 3 years. CBJ bar moves to 8+ wins this year. If that is not met you folks will run him out on a rail and the program will be set back another 6-8 years. :clapping::clapping:

Appears many on VN don't give CBJ enough credit. Unlike his predecessor, butch is hiring from a position of power, not desperation. Regardless of who gets hired, expect to be pleased in September when the offense is at a new level.

It wouldn't set us back at all. After this recruiting class, we'll have the players. Lots of coaches would like to come here with this level of talent. This is not something we are likely to do, but finding a quality replacement for anyone on this staff would not be difficult.

The biggest reason I'm chuckling while perusing all you "experts" upping the nausea scale by decrying BUTch's ominous imminent professional implosion; one that would be caused by hiring some supposed sure-fire loser, even with my limited experience playing football (Jr. high and High school...like millions of other fans), is...this is BUTch's program and he won't lay a hang nail on any of your misinformed freakouts. Doug Matthews patiently laid out (to the press) that, due to an inadequate OC (not the HC), last year's offense couldn't make short yardage when needed (red zone scoring and 3rd and 4th down big plays, as in couldn't produce power surges), didn't utilize the right talent in key positions (Worley over Dobbs, poor WR matchups, etc.), he pointed out questionable OL play while still recognizing the reality of a dearth of talent there, and, of course, most dubious play calling, time after time. The much respected, well traveled coach then explained that frivolously picking up an OC who's philosophies wouldn't fit the athletes and schemes of that particular system (and fit it well), regardless of their prominence to the sports public, would only disrupt the finite setup that's already in place. For you Forrests: This'll mess up Momma's cake mix. Personally, I'm going to enjoy this off-season as well as possible and figure the experts (not any of US)...BUTch et al, will handle this hire in a way that best suits the team's future, and not to garner the approval of VNers. I know, I know. I can hear y'all crying "But I'm just being realistic!" Have Momma fix you a cup of hot chocolate, Forrest(s)...it's ugly outside.

Well, I'm working third shift and need to go to bed. I fully expect to wake up to the news that this guy is the new OC and look forward to Butch telling us all just how fortunate we are to have him here.

Why buy an expensive suit that will last several years when you can buy a cheap one, hope it lasts until you can get another cheap one next year?

A bald white guy that won a NC, just saying
Take your pick of which one I'm referring; you will be right either way.

With that logic, Fulmer should be our hire. Won a national championship and used to be great with the Oline.

Not bald though :)

I hate to break it to you guys but if the he was going to hire Debord or Azzani he would have already done so, there is nothing preventing him from doing so because one is currently on the staff and the other is not in a current position where he would need to wait a few weeks. The longer this plays out the more likely it is that the hire will be a current or co-coordinator at another school.
