LNS: Is the Hornet’s Nest Gone?

Txbo just casually noting that he has a company plane at his beck and call….at least you put it to good use!

What a flex 😛
@txbo is also generous. In addition to buying tickets to send UT fans to the super regionals, he and his wife helped send kids to baseball camps and families to Owls games, and did so anonymously.

Last thing…there was a time when nobody thought all the games would be televised. One way or the other, that has passed. There was a time, not that long ago that most people never thought UT would invest in baseball. Not that long ago, renovation seemed like a pipe dream. That’s all in the past, or soon to be. We’re in a good spot. What do we all decide to do with the opportunity? University included.

To all the Moms, Happy Mothers Day!

GBO!!!

Then what you say wouldn’t be entirely true. I got 2 tickets in right field for A&M. The person was there and told me the whole row was theirs.
Those were normal reseller tickets and were listed as authorized resellers identified in red. There are also “standard admission” tickets being sold for every game Identified in blue. These are the ones the poster was referencing.

What if I told you that these likely aren’t individual resellers but Ticketmaster themselves in conjunction with UT holding back blocks of tickets to sell at reseller prices?

I've hinted at the same thing, and I absolutely believe that's what it is. I honestly wish some kid at the Beacon, or one of the last couple KNS employees would get bored and expose it.

Its just completely unnecessary, lazy greed.

Ticketmaster holds back blocks of tickets to help manipulate the market pricing. Essentially they are artificially influencing the supply side to increase demand and inflate ticket prices. It’s classic antitrust and price fixing IMHO. Their partners (venues, sports teams, etc) are very pleased with this tactic as it increases their margins. It hurts the consumer with absurdly high ticket prices. They find out later that magically new waves or blocks of tickets are being released after their purchase.

This is 1000% correct and is what is going on here.

When UT switched to Ticketmaster several years ago, I knew it would be bad news and that the fans would ultimately suffer greatly because of the change. UT basically sold their soul when they got in bed with TM.

Well said by both of you.

If the fans wanted to effect actual change, that's what they'd collectively push UT to get rid of. But given the revenue promises TM makes and the way people like DW are addicted to it, I know it would take a massive, massive effort.

I mean, hell, nuking Ticketmaster been the lowest hanging political fruit for years and years that quite literally every one on every side would celebrate, but other than performative nonsense by both sides, no one will touch them.

(In case its not obvious, I despise Ticketmaster.)

Met Cockrell at Hoover a few years'when he was honored as an SEC baseball 'legend'. Also saw him play QB for the Vols a few times, including the 1982 wind over Bama in Neyland. Great memories!
Here’s what you’re smoking in Hoover this year, Sax. Going in the mail tomorrow morning. Should get to you by Friday.

Went by the Romeo y Julieta factory in Havana a few years ago. I don’t smoke (I do like the smell a little; reminds me of my late uncle), but I brought back some for some friends that do. They loved them.

Cigars are my guilty pleasure and endulgence. My Father makes some great 60 gauge stogies. A trout stream and a cigar is heaven.

Sorry, but it was before I knew you.

If it makes you feel any better, I didn’t shell out for those Cohibas. Too dang expensive.
Really overrated IMHO. Buying the name…too many other great cigars for a fraction of the price of a Cohiba. Now Opus X is a guilty indulgence and worth every $.
