LNS: Is the Hornet’s Nest Gone?

What do expect from the MVP section when they're mostly older individuals... I don't expect a 70 year old to stand and scream for 9 innings...
I expect them to actually show up to the games or give them to someone who will. BTW, the loudest guy in MVP is a 72 yo man who leads cheers and is an awesome fan who is hoarse after games.

That's great....glad he has enough spunk to cheer and scream. I guess I'm a ****** fan then Everytime I go see my Dodgers play in Atlanta I do exactly what the individuals do at LNS. Sit there and watch and clap .

It would help if we didn't have all those empty seats behind home plate. I get that those people donated and got the tickets, but if you don't have any intentions of going to the game, give the tickets to someone else.

After watching Arkansas, here‘s another issue impacting the atmosphere at LNS. The MVP seats are typically 1/3 empty even for the big SEC weekends. The best, closest seats to the field are NOT being maximized for a quality home field advantage. You saw virtually ZERO empty seats behind home plate at Arkansas or LSU or Ole Miss. MVP Seats aren’t able to be resold on Ticketmaster and those season ticket holders aren’t transferring them to friends/family when they don‘t attend. This needs to be resolved as it hurts the environment at LNS.

Finally, outside of a few, the MVP section is one of the quietest, most laid back sections of LNS. Besides hurting the atmosphere, it’s a really bad look on TV with tons of empty seats between the dugouts.
This won’t happen as much next year because they won’t have the MVP room to hang out in like they do now.

They make it too hard to give and can’t sell with benefits

I don’t see the seat, crowd, changing very much in the short term. What fans can control are having some chants. V. O.L.S. For instance. I think it it could be organic, over time, but it only takes a small group to transform things. Maybe as it relates to being BaseVols fans, we’re still Noobs in our public affection.

GBO!!!

If that was the case, why was it so loud in 21, 22, 23, and 24?

They will still have the MVP Lounge but will just have to pay for the food/drinks. I’m referring to folks who don’t go nor give their tix to someone. Many just sit empty—lounge or not.

That stuff was going on then. C’mon, I was there. The 1B side was rocking whether we were winning or losing, we were extremely lucky to be on the front end of the curve. You could walk up and get a ticket to a midweek. You could hit the lottery by working the phones. I am not saying that’s the only way.

Simply put. There was buy in. Lucky to be there. And by golly, make the most of it!!! What’I’m seeing now ain’t that, don’t know what ya call it, but it ain’t that. Same ball park, with more seats but, sure doesn’t seem anything like the years you describe, and it doesn’t even seem close. There’s a reason CTV keeps bringing it up.

I don’t get your point. What stuff was going on then? I was saying if it’s not loud now because “we are noobs”, why was it so loud in previous years?

Opportunity. Fans with modest income could afford it, or give up something else to be there. At the time, of the big 3, it was the cheapest ticket on campus and by the time regionals rolled around, you had to fight for ‘em, but yer all in, no way I’m gonna miss this. You act accordingly, there were chants, there were fights, and an appreciation of what the staff and players were accomplishing in real time. Nobody had expectations we would win the whole damn thing. Nobody.

I’m not a student, but the student section is embarrassing. Are they planning to install actual seats?

The Locos know how to have fun at the park.

Kind of weird costumes that have nothing to do with sports much less softball. Reeks of “look at me” and I want on TV but I’ve never met them. They might be the best fans on the planet as far as I know. Anyone know the scoop?

They're always there, just not in Wizard of Oz getups. Usually some form of noticeable matching attire though.

Always loud, always chanting. Very much fits the softball vibe and adds to the experience. I thought it was just 2 dudes, but maybe they've added to their ranks.

Still extremely frustrated with LNS after last night.

It was at times flat embarrassing. Multiple times this weekend the coaching staff and the dugout in general has been completely and totally exasperated as 85% of the stadium just kinda sat there during high pressure spots. 3-0 count and we're at bat? Crickets. 3-2 high leverage pitch with them batting? Crickets. My section of about 100 people? 5 or 6 of us yelling.

Then in the bottom of the 9th (BEFORE it was clear the outcome) about 1,000+ just bolt for the exits. To beat traffic?! There's a third of what is in TBA as far as crowd. What damn traffic? It was shameful.

I don't think people realize the influence they can have on a game and the value Vitello, the staff, and most importantly the players place on it. If you're going tonight, DO SOMETHING.
