Funny how everyone takes a bad situation that involved Kiffin here and write him off as a bad coach. Kiffin is a good coach and Ole Miss is going to be a very tough team to beat in a couple of years. He is great a scheming with the talent he has.

He'd better hurry, because the evidence suggests he won't be there long. The longest he's held a top job is 4 seasons and USC was worse-off when he left -- hence the reason he was fired. No major programs showed interest over the next few years. His short stint at FAU resurrected his career and gave him a chance to rack up a bunch of wins against the Bethune-Cookmans, Old Dominions and Wagners of the cfb world. But even one of those 3 seasons was a losing one. And he managed to lose games to teams like Charlotte and Buffalo along the way.

And all of that is aside from his abysmal NFL "career".

The losing season was a rebuild season and he completely turned FAU around. They were straight garbage before he showed up. He was 26-13 overall with Two conference USA titles.

Kiffin will probably say what he sent if he's asked in his next press conference. Lol

Hamilton was the problem. Kiffin had no business being the HC at UT.

Hiring Kiffin wasn't the problem. Passing over better coaches due to a small amount of $$$$ or essentially eliminating the reciprocal buyout provisions in Kiffin's contract to get him under $2MM was the the problem....

Kiffin is one of the main reasons TN has sucked for so long. You guys speak of him in a positive way. I don't want that asshat ever stepping on TN's campus again unless it's to kick the crap out of the team he's coaching.

Firing Fulmer the way we did is THE main reason. Kiffin left in an immature and stupid way, being one of the youngest HCs in the P5. He did say that USC was his dream job and no one expected it to open. Kiffin wasnt the problem - his hiring made sense. The problem was hiring Dooley and then Butch after him. Clueless Admin who didnt know football from their backsides. Had CFP been ushered out in the right way, he should have been a lead part of selecting the next coaches.

Say what you want about the young Joey freshwater, the now much more experienced LK is going to cause serious headaches in SECW. He is a good schemer on O and he will attract talent to Ol Piss that would never have gone there otherwise.

Totally disagree. Fulmer was finished and most of us knew it. By the way, who hired him after UT?

No, you are correct to a certain extent, but his sudden departure humiliated the program’s reputation nationally for years. We are still suffering from that one action.

Kiffin did not hire himself as HC at UT, MH did. There were other candidates available much more qualified than Kiffin that could have been hired after Fulmer was let go. Long story short, Mike Hamilton was a disaster and is the main reason football was set back over a decade. Hamilton shopped for a car at a used car lot instead of going to the Mercedes dealership when it came to hiring football coaches.

His departure was largely due to fact that Mike Hamilton did not make Kiffin's buyout big because that was the only way to get his salary under $2MM.

Just to save a couple hundred thousand bucks, Hammy F'ed our program up for a decade...

Don't agree with that. Some of you sure hold onto grudges for a long time, it's been over 10 years. I think some of us speak of him positively, because we've moved on and forgiven him. Sure, he left in an immature way...but at the same time I can't really blame him for wanting to jump at that opportunity considering it was his dream. Say what you will about him as a coach, but as a person I like him. I forgave him a long time ago. He's still always liked our university and our fans. He's got a constant reminder of us in his son, who he named Knox. Also, last year was when he did something I really respected. Last year one of our fans lost their daughter and Lane was one of the only people, who was a coach, who reached out to her. He didn't have to, but he did. He's still got this bee on his twitter photo in honor of her little daughter, because it was kind of a symbol for her. I thought it was really classy and he won over a lot of Vol fans for it. How a little girl made people change the darkness in their hearts for him.
